dear everyone,
LOOK
look what you have done.
well? what then?
what have you got to say for yourselves?
huh?

well,
i'd
i'd like to say
you're the best all of you who voted. and well done to the BJ's for taking out pole position. there will be plenty more jokes like that on our regional tour in jan. Our naturally crude temperaments will only be exacerbated by the relentless antipodean sun and the endless highway that might lead us back to geiya and enlightenment or send us down the river to Konrads heart of darkness.
you oughta come an see it
bound to be interesting
if only as a social experiment
stay tuned.

EXCUSE ME. AHEM! I"D LIKE TO GET MUSHY FOR A SECOND IF I MAY _____

Dear Someone -

I’d like to take this opportunity, drunk half on sentiment and the other on Christmas spirits to say how enamored I am of all of you -

Anyone who’s got the record and knows the words, anyone who cast a vote or raised their voice, anyone who checks the pages and is reading this now.

Whether you were at the first house party we played or amongst the 2500 people in Sheffield O2 Academy last month.

We are nomads truly and will be touring ragged and ecstatic all up and down the road like Dean and Sal.

We’ve got some new songs and we’re thinking of having them committed.

There is so much to be excited for it hurts to wait for it.

But for now, for all of you, I wish you a Merry Christmas. And if you’re not into Christmas I wish you the feeling of Christmas. I feel better knowing you’re just like me.

We’d still be making this ramshackle music even if you pelted us with eggs but by God it’s wonderful that you like it.

Stay tuned to our broadcasting. Spread the good word.

Thankyou and goodnight.

M,t and YKB

Dear all, It's that time of year. It's really hot, there's a lot of summer festivals going on, everyone is getting a little drunk a little too often and it's almost my birthday. Yeah, it's a few weeks before JJJ's Hottest 100! You better believe it. (And it's Christmas time/holiday season/new year's, but whatever). It turns out that this lil' band called YKB have three (3) songs in the list this year. We COMPEL you to vote for us. CLICK HERE TO VOTE FOR YKB: http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/09/ You should definitely vote for us. Please select ALL BELOW. 1. Getting Wise 2. Make Up Your Mind 3. Digital Love 4. Every other song on our debut album We will see you either way at one of these festivals we're playing at soon no doubt. I mean... the odds of running into us are pretty good. Falls Festival, Sunset Sounds, Southbound etc... I just hope none of you like that Grizzly Bear band because they seem to be playing at the same time as us. Bad luck for them...(?) Anyway. Kool. LOVE FROM CHARLES AND THE GANG AND YKB
Vote for us in triple j's Hottest 100!

ART GALLERY

You are all attractive people with excellent taste, that is why you are here. You are, I know you to be as all opinion is subjective, we can never be certain that what we perceive to be is absolute and accurate. This is Humes’ problem, not ours – lets cut to the chase.

I want to start an art gallery. Right here on this page. If you would like to display a piece then I want you to do it. Desire begets desire. Attentive receive attention. Lovers beget love. Is that shallow or survival? I think its human myself.

(Superlative city)

It could be anything – regardless of if the muse is ourselves or a dead bird you found on the street that reminded you of the beautiful and cruel, swift and tragic flight of life.

I’m starting a new thing. You want to hear about it? I’ve decided that the phrase “Yves Klein Blue” is not just to create lasting music, it’s to create something lasting full stop.  Anything eternal, or as eternal as temporal can achieve. We can all do this right now I’ve decided.

We can all get tattoos. It’s like carpe diem or the jesus fish.

I’ll start.

Here is a painting that I did once -

Who’s next?

Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Hi Everyone
How is everyone holding up out there in quarantine? It seems only fitting that on a tour dubbed 'ragged and ecstatic’ the road would wallop us with sub zero temperatures and a bevy of microscopic cage fighters that infiltrated our bodies and proceeded to wail on us mercilessly. But through the haze of the infirmary we’ve all shown up. Us and all of you. Like the kind folk of Brisbane, who might just spot themselves HERE.

SYDNEY!
There were more than 700 people through the doors of the OAF last Saturday! And the night show absolutely packed to the rafters? It’s lucky there wasn’t a fire. It’s beyond surreal. Thank you very much for your support. We’ll see you soon for the White Lies tour and even sooner if you’re coming to Splendour.

This thanks is of course in no particular order other than reverse chronological as we are by no means undervaluing the superhuman dancing abilities of Canberra and Woollongong and especially Newcastle. Thank you in kind. We fought the cold in the most enjoyable way possible. And had some delicious pasta at il Volcano. Delish. Old pals, thank you for your generosity, it is always a pleasure. Great oats.

Victoria – we were being broadcast roadside as we traversed the treacherous heavily monitored highways to the capital. We thank our gracious hosts for keeping us warm in the cold air. Ballarat was wonderful. Thanks to Neon Love and the owner of the miniscule drum kit we perched atop of. It packed a punch. Like Scrappy Doo. All of those who showed up in force we’ll see you again soon. A few travelers I might mention who we were to see later in the week.

Geelong! Wonderful Pan-Asian cuisine. A SOLD OUT room! The mind boggles. We can’t wait to return to the Nash. P.S. Wings rule.

Melbourne. I hadn’t realized that I still had nervous energy left in my body until halfway through my Tibetan soup, which appeared to consist mainly of grey water and fish food. Who says YKB don’t know how to live it up? (mostly us, we don’t go far towards disclaiming the rumour, do we?) The Philly Jays play and Simon's glasses are the cost of another killer live show. The gig is sold out and the room is packed – full of so many friends and family. Thank you, it was an incredible night.

Adelaide, we are very sorry that we do not get down to you more often. Red eye flights were cured by the soft beds at the backpacker's inn. Drenched in a pool of sweat I emerged from sleep, pulled on my shoes and headed to sound check for a pizza party with Pete and his friends. I must admit my voice was a little hoarse that day but it was an incredible high note to finish the tour on. Adelaide you all came out in fine voice to help us out on the last two numbers of the set. There have been a few times on the tour when I’ve felt a little overwhelmed but nothing tops that. Despite the huge amount of medical evidence to the contrary I am certain it was that and not the terrible strain I did to my vocal chords that left me speechless. That’s what I’m telling everyone anyway. Thanks again.

On a personal note we’d like to thank the Philadelphia Grand Jury, or The Philly Jays or as I’ve come to refer to them, the PJ’s. Thankyou very much. You are a truly great rock and roll band. I think that’s the best compliment I can pay you. And a great bunch of guys.

NEXT!
WA!
We will be in the neighborhood today. Can’t hardly wait. Better get tickets if you have not already as you never know these days. Who would have thought it?
Not us.
We are, as always, extremely grateful that you’ve taken the time out of your precious life to give two shits about us. We’ll try live up to it.

Hi,

So charles has finally taken the photos off his camera.
Though it was not willing to give them up.

Whenever we return from tour, people always ask the question "what was the tour like?"

Everyone always has something different to say. Some enjoy certain parts of the tour, whilst others tend to disagree. However, there are some points that we always agree upon.

I decided to show you the tour (large boomy voice in 3, 2, 1...) THROUGH THE EYES OF CHARLES!

Here are a couple of photos:

no comment

Outside the Scientology museum, doing some celebrity spotting

Charles checking me out.
note: read the posters on the box

Sean's crotch

Chris' crotch

Charles' checking himself out

Our day trip to 'The Smallest House In London'

I have NO IDEA how Charles managed to take this photo AND be in it...you can even see both his hands!

---------------

We have an Australia tour coming up in JULY, playing gigs all across Australia (check myspace for locations)

So for the next edition we will be following YKB (large boomy voice in 3, 1...) THROUGH THE EYES OF MICHAEL

Hey,

So we are in england. I love this place. Its cold and grey outside, but i still love the place. If it were sunny i would leave immediately.
And its really, really windy outside! (opposed to it being really windy inside. which would just be weird.... newspapers flying all over the place, dogs are howling because of the noise, furniture is being knocked over, you rush to stop and expensive lamp from crashing to the ground, your hair is wildly thrashing in the wind, you run to the front door and burst outside...where it is perfectly calm. Strange...)
As i am writing this the wind is blowing against the windows and making that whistling noise. It sounds like a Jerry Springer audience, when the boyfriend is caught lying to his girlfriend. oooooooh! Especially when it is revealed that he has ANOTHER wife and 3 kids. But seriously, who didn’t see that coming?
Does anyone know how that noise is made? Maybe some houses are made with similar design features to that of a whistle. And the people are like the little ball that rattle around inside....dude....that’s deep.
Alas, I guess the answer is blowin in the wind. oh snap

We left New York at 8am yesterday. Which means that we had to leave the hotel at 6am. Which means we had to get up at 5am. Which means we had to go to bed at 3am.
Wait. that doesn’t work.
New York was fantastic. We played two gigs. The first one at Pianos Bar in the East Village. We ate at Katz deli and i ate a pastrami sandwich. See below for the recipe:

Katz Pastrami Recipe (note - take time and read carefully):

Need: Bread, Pastrami, plate

1. Place slice of bread on plate
2. Cut pastrami. Enough for 4 people.
3. Place ALL of that pastrami on the bread
4. Place another slice of bread on top
5. Eat

Katz deli is where the movie Harry Met Sally is filmed. You know the famous scene where Meg Ryan has the fake orgasm. True fact - she was not faking it in the scene. That is no lie.

The other gig was in Brooklyn at a place called ‘Death By Audio’. Brooklyn is a pretty cool place. Though i sensed some serious tension towards Manhattan. They started off as friendly neighbours, living happily in the big city. However things got sour when Brookyln suspected Manhattan of stealing the big apple off his tree. Manhattan said that the tree hangs over his fence and as such he is entitled to those apples. Anyway, a small cold war developed and they stopped talking. Several years later a third party tried to bridge the gap between the two feuding districts. But the tension still remains. Seriously you two, it’s all just water under the bridge. Get over it.

I would have loved to have spent more time in New York. And i regret not saying “Hey, I’m walkin here!” and slam my hand down on a taxi. Just like Dustin Hoffman in Midnight Cowboy.

Oh and we visited LA.

Goodnight cowboys and cowgirls. We’ll ride again soon

Hello Blog, how are you? Did you know there is a word describing the blogging world called the "blogosphere"? Cool word. Anyway, this is Yves Klein Blue's very own personal recording blog. This is the first entry. It is currently sunday the 9th of november, but at home it's monday morning at around 9:45.Los Angeles.... is a cool place. It seems like a fairly obvious place to go and record an album, but that's fine with me. The recording studio is truly amazing and is full of the coolest instruments and amplifiers I've ever seen.

Our chosen producer Kevin (he has done the last two Cold War Kids records) is totally cool and he's also really tall. He's like my height, but he's around 500 times more built than me. I guess we're gonna be doing it Kevin’s way or the HIGH WAY MAN! No I'm sure everything will be just fine, I must iterate how great the Cold War Kids records sound. (Have you listened to them? Totally cool.) We're going to record only to tape which is kinda cool, though we can't screw up as much as we usually do. We're not exactly analogue purists or anything, but it shall be interesting to see how the restrictions of tape work. Anyway, enough wank.

We're staying in this place in North Hollywood, which sounds snazzy, but in reality is actually a long way from ....Hollywood.... proper. It's kinda like any old suburb with car yards and vacant lots, but the area shows promise in the form of live music venues and such. Cool. So we were going to buy skateboards or bikes to get to the studio each day, but we can't actually work out a way to get the bikes back because all the bike shops are so far away, and the risk of breaking our wrists skateboarding is probably too high. We're not punk rock enough it seems. I guess we'll instead spend that money on burritos and weak American beer. As you do.

So we haven't even gotten into the studio yet, that's tomorrow. For now, we've been to ....Hollywood.... and looked at guitar stores and bought hats. Except for Sean, Sean was too hungry to look at things. Eventually we made our way to an Israeli snack bar. Never been to one of those before. We had tasty felafel and then ran around and looked at more things. There's so many cool stores here, but sadly money is often needed when purchasing things, a commodity which does not smile on Charles. Anyway, we shall update you next week once something has actually been done. We're itching to get into that recording studio! We might go and see Dungen next week, cool band. Fingers crossed we can make it. Hope everyone is well out there in the blogosphere.

Till next week, love from Charles and the rest of YKB
