We skipped Set 22, which became known as "The Ministry of Over-Engineered Toss". Instead we waited until a new batch of little seedlings arrived, and we named these tracks "Lunar Sea" collectively. They are available for inspection here (three taster tracks) and at our Official (sounds better if you capitalise that) Web SITE (looks crap if you capitalise that).

The bush fire that is ’Set 21’ is licking playfully at the tinder-box shack that is "Random Mutations".

First, you must venture to the area known as the Benzene Vapours current set..

Charred and near asphyxiated we hope you still manage to stagger to the Burns Unit of our MyMusicStream tracks too.Take an oxygen mask if you feel giddy.

The luggage we call hysterically ’Set 18’ has been lost in Terminal 5, hence we offer you the opportunity to unpack our sweaty vestments called collectively "Tycho Anomoly".

First, you must venture to the area known as the Benzene Vapours current set..

Thenceforth, you may take photographs, or listen out for amusing sounds with ’headrophonic phones’. It’s all wireless these days, so have no fear of the unknown.

Please sign our Electrobel petition (i.e. leave a comment) backing our protest against the proposed incinerator plan to be built near our studio. It's being built on some stinky chemical marshes! Oi! Council! NO! We're the only stinky chemical merchants round here!

Hear our protest song at
Electrobel. Don't forget to leave a comment to those pesky council officials!

The ever-bizarre Benzene Vapours have the insanely-sinister dance track "Say Goodbye To The Evil One" featured in this month's (January) podcast on the Electronica Monthly site.

Please pay the site a visit, maybe even download it if you have the bandwidth. We'd appreciate your support.

Hell, you might even like it!

We are about half way through our latest set "Pop Goes The Nucleus" - a wicked slap across the chops of various authority figurines.

So far we have posted our teaser track "Toby Bear On Drugs" for you to listen to while you're waiting, but we've got ahead of ourselves, because there are still four more tracks from Set 9: "
Hookah Smoke Melodies" to be posted.

Expect to see the following tracks posted here soon:-
* Frankly Unneccesary
* Magic 7
* Cavalry Against Tanks
* Doctor Whose In The House

A couple of these tracks are also a little demeaning to the well-meaning, but we care this ¬- much.

See you anon, squire.

We've uploaded four of our tracks from the Hookah Smoke Melodies set for you to enjoy. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect:-

1. Ride Like A Bastard - inspired by a few choice samples from that 1980 Christopher Cross song "Ride Like The Wind". The original song has all the formulaic elements you might expect - a moody intro, a storyline verse, a catchy chorus, and a sweet middle eight. We've dispensed with all that to concoct a much darker version that never delivers the payload that the original promised.

2. Windy Miller (Rides Sidesaddle) - astonishingly, also inspired by a sample from "Ride Like The Wind" (see above) although you'd be hard-pushed to distinguish it. Instead, we've taken a very obtuse cut and formulated a beat to fit. With it's quirky blending sax squirts it has the feel of a reel or a jig. Get dancing!

3. Symmetrical Shipping - We've all but dispensed with found beats, and are now constructing our own almost exclusively. This track is relatively simply constructed, and evolved from a few
Ableton Live sounds that we 'vapourised' in the usual manner ;-)

4. Troglodyte Riot - based upon an excerpt from the infamous
Troggs Tapes
We took a sample of the struggling beat and recreated it to extend it to the full length of the track. The amusing part for us was the interplay between the breakdowns in our track and the ones in the original. Rather unusually for us, we didn't include any of the swearing from the original!

Here's what's being said by the cider-drinking Producer to the Troggs' exasperated drummer, who just can't understand what's being asked of him:-

"Tommy, can you 'ear me? What about...trying it....not only, not on that top, just on that top skin floor...but then..your floor tom-tom; but try it on....split your hands, so one bit is doing it on the top..er...drum - one's doing it on the floor tom-tom...THEN your bass!"

BV set on new web site

Hear our current set 'This is Recovery Clinic' for free on the new www.BenzeneVapours.com site.

We've posted all nine mp3 tracks for you to listen to in our mp3 player, or for download.

Elsewhere on the site you'll find some our back catalogue which shows some of the evolution in our sound over the past year of almost constant music-making. This year alone we have worked on over 40 tracks, and in the near future we will publish selected ones onto the catalogue page for your amusement. If nothing else they are a demonstration of how much fun you can have with a simple sample and a beat, using Ableton's Live studio and some of the best free VST plugins.

We are now working on the next set "Hookah Smoke Melodies". The first completed track from that set is 'Sex Monkeys To Heat Up", which you can hear on this MySpace site.

Three other tracks are being worked on and should be ready to be aired soon. Watch this MySpace for details on where to listen to those!
