After the recent departure of singer Michiel Borkent, lead guiterist AlexRosenhof decided to stop his activities in Picture of the Moon aswell: "The most important thing is that I am occupied with other projects which are more interesting for me. I'd rather spend my time on those projects. Currently I have three different bands, and requests for other projects as well."
Since the remaining band members are occupied with different activities and the future is insecure, the band decided to stop. "I'm really sorry we cannot continue our activities. We've written good music that has not been recorded yet. However, fully dedication is essential for a project to succeed." says Rudolf Saathof (drums). Frans Klaver (guitar): "I think Rudolf and I cannot stop writing music. We have to shape our ideas, however, some ideas of Picture of the Moon we cannot leave unused".
Sander (bass): "I am glad Frans and Rudolf will continue writing music. Unfortunately we were not able to record the music with the band. I spent almost eight years with Picture of the Moon and would like to thank the band for everything we've done. It has been an exeptional time."

Na zanger Michiel Borkent heeft ook lead gitarist Alex Rosenhof aangegeven zijn activiteiten in de band te willen stoppen: "Het belangrijkste is dat ik het momenteel druk heb met andere dingen, die voor mij interessanter zijn en ik wil mijn tijd liever daaraan besteden. Momenteel zit ik in drie verschillende bands en krijg nog aanvraag voor andere projecten."
Omdat de andere bandleden ook druk zijn met andere activiteiten en de toekomst onzeker is, heeft de band besloten om de activiteiten stop te zetten. "Het is ontzettend jammer dat we niet verder kunnen. Er ligt goede muziek op de plank, dat wel vraagt om opgenomen te worden. Volledige motivatie is voor mij echter wel belangrijk om een project te laten slagen", aldus Rudolf Saathof, drummer. Frans Klaver (gitarist) reageert: "Ik denk dat Rudolf en ik nog niet klaar zijn met het schrijven van muziek. Wij moeten nog vorm geven aan onze ideeën, maar het materiaal dat er al ligt kunnen we niet ongebruikt laten."
Sander (bassist): "Ik ben blij dat Frans en Rudolf doorgaan met het schrijven van muziek voor (een nieuwe vorm van) Picture of the Moon. Het is alleen jammer dat we niet met een volledige Picture of the Moon het materiaal dat er ligt op hebben kunnen nemen. Ik heb bijna 8 jaar bij Picture of the Moon gezeten en zou de groep willen bedanken voor alles wat we gedaan hebben. Het is een uitzondelijke tijd geweest."

After a good cooperation of seven years Michiel Borkent has decided to leave Picture of the Moon. Besides his excellent voice and characteristic sound, the thing we will miss most is his good company. We want to thank Michiel for all his effort.

Picture of the Moon will continue! A lot of music has been written, and we are very excited to record it. The recordings will be postponed until we find a new singer. We are looking for a singer with a good clean voice and experience on stage. Interested? Mail to zanger@pictureofthemoon.net.

Michiel:
I want to thank Picture of the Moon for all the inspiration of the past seven years. POTM helped me to develop myself as a keyboard player and later on also as a singer. After four years of living outside of Enschede the decision came to leave the band. I didn't feel sufficiently involved anymore in the creative process and couldn't give the 100% a band like POTM deserves. I'm deeply convinced that the band will keep growing as a very creative and uniquely sounding band and wish them all the best for the future.

Na zeven jaar goede samenwerking heeft Michiel Borkent het besluit genomen om uit Picture of the Moon te stappen. Het is erg jammer dat we, naast zijn uitstekende stem en karakteristieke geluid, als band de gezelligheid moeten missen die hij altijd met zich meebrengt. We willen Michiel bedanken voor zijn inzet.

Picture of the Moon gaat gewoon door! Er ligt veel materiaal op de plank en we popelen om het op te nemen. De opnames worden uitgesteld totdat we een nieuwe zanger kunnen verwelkomen. We zoeken een zanger die een goede cleane zang en podiumervaring heeft. Geïnteresseerden kunnen mailen naar zanger@pictureofthemoon.net.

Michiel:
Ik wil Picture of the Moon bedanken voor alle inspiratie van de afgelopen zeven jaren waarin ik me als toetsenist en later ook als zanger heb kunnen ontwikkelen. Helaas is na vier jaar buiten Enschede te hebben gewoond, de tijd voor mij aangebroken om afscheid te nemen als bandlid. Mede door de afstand voelde ik me niet meer genoeg betrokken in het creatieve proces en kon ik niet meer de 100% geven die een band zoals POTM verdient. Ik heb de overtuiging dat de band zich na mijn vertrek verder zal blijven ontwikkelen als een zeer creatieve band met een eigen sound en wens hun het allerbeste voor de toekomst.

Dutch progmetal band PICTURE OF THE MOON celebrate their sixth anniversary this month. In September 2001 the band started to form on the grounds of University of Twente, Enschede (The Netherlands). To celebrate this they decided to release an additional entire song on the web from their newest effort, the EP  'Ageless Day'. The song is titled 'Black Roses' and is the opening track from the EP. 'Ageless Day' was recorded and produced by Joost van den Broek (AFTER FOREVER) in November 2006 in the Excess Studios (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and was released by Dark Balance records in June 2007. Yesterday, the first of September 2001, it was six years ago that POTM was formed. We were very honoured to be able to celebrate our birthday on one of the coolest stages of Belgium: Hof ter Loo in Antwerp.

19.05.2007 We willen Kudra Mata van harte feliciteren met hun zege vanavond in de voorronde van Oogst van Overijssel in De Stam, Almelo. We vonden het een eer dat wij geselecteerd waren om met deze voorronde mee te mogen doen en wensen Kudra Mata veel succes in de volgende ronde.
