Not sure how to classify this blog but since it is about MySpace- I figured I would link to it from MySpace.

If you are having problems with the MySpace people deleting your friends (I know  it is horrific) or getting spam- you might consider something else. Anything...

The reading took approximately Fourty-Nine hours. If you don't have Second Life you can check out a video review on the TheWallSL.com site and the virtual build to get an idea what it looks like and how it was accomplished.

Second Life Development- Vietnam Memorial The Wall SL

Welcome to TheWallSL.com a destination and companion site for interactive virtual replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial that resides in the main Second Life "Grid". A fundamental purpose behind this Second Life build was to help provide a form of accessibility for those who are unable to experience the real life memorial due to time constraints, insufficient means or ability. In addition, we endeavored to communicate the history and existence of this significant memorial to current and future generations in an innovative and relevant manner.

In making The Wall SL one goal was to concentrate on replicating a memorial of respect, without political focus; and, in consequence to demonstrate how 3D environments can help teach, educate, and hopefully spark reflective thought in people regardless of culture. Memorials serve an important function in any society. They help us remember, teach important life lessons, and are evocative places to meditate and reflect. Memorials also instruct those, by virtue of age, who were not directly touched by an event.

Virtual environments hold great potential, giving veterans (and others) with travelling concerns or mobility issues the opportunity to participate and share in an otherwise inaccessible experience. Whilst it is impossible to truly capture the perfect essence and emotional power of the real life Vietnam Memorial, it is our expectation that this project will provide a catalyst for people not only to remember and honor those who died and the families who lost loved ones, but also to instill a desire to learn more about history.

This companion site will assist your investigation about information regarding The Wall and its associated history, while also presenting some thoughts from the people who developed the project. The site provides instructions on how to interact with the wall, use the search function for names of those who died, or leave virtual flowers. TheWallSL.com acknowledges the partners who helped create the virtual memorial and this companion website, and offers further information on Second Life, virtual environments and emerging technology. If you have a suggestion or wish to give feedback please contact us here.

"This memorial is centered on one unique wall, on which are etched the names of tens of thousands.  As human beings, regardless of culture, our names are an integral part of who we are. Therefore a name is often the most powerful and personal of memorials one can leave."

Lithium from Evanescene

Add to My Profile

My teen daughter introduced me to Evanescene...this one...Lithium...never made an element on the periodic table sound so good...or bring bi-polar disorder into vogue...Li---a great alternative to Divalproex Sodium or whatever the standing PO TX du jour is today...been out of medicine far too long to guess.

Some metal heads should do a take called Thiothixene well ok....the trade name- Navane sounds far, far better and adding in Extra Pyramidal Symptoms (EPS) would make for some fun lyrics. or mosh pit antics..every concert I went too I swear half the crowd had tardive dyskinesia....histaminic, alpha adrenergic, and anticholinergic (e.g. if the beer drunk is any indicator) side effects...goes to show you about the concerts I went too...

Paging Dr. Dol, Dr. Hal Dol, Paging Dr. Dol....medical humor.... *sigh* stupid.

Trans Siberian Orchestra - Requiem The Fifth(video off website)

Add to My Profile | More Videos

Wow- MySpace enables me to find music I forgot somehow- this was from their website....TSBO is great stuff!

Did you know? In the recording studio, Trans-Siberian Orchestra uses a full 60-piece orchestra and a choir. As of 2004, their touring band included fourteen vocalists, fourteen musicians, and two narrators.

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra was founded in 1996 in New York City by composers Paul O'Neill and Robert Kinkel, and Savatage lead singer Jon Oliva. The group's name is inspired by the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia which Kinkel says connects many cultures otherwise isolated, much like music.

O'Neill had managed and produced rock bands including Aerosmith, Humble Pie, and Scorpions, later writing for and producing Savatage, where he began working with Kinkel and Oliva. The concept for a band playing Christmas carols in a rock opera style was not received warmly by the industry, but quickly proved a success with adults as well as young people.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra released their debut album Christmas Eve and Other Stories in 1996, and it remains their best-selling album. Their 1998 release The Christmas Attic was similarly a concept album with a Christmas theme. In 2000, they released their first (and to date only) non-Christmas album, Beethoven's Last Night, a concept album about Ludwig van Beethoven's last night on earth, during which he meets Fate, her son Twist, and Mephistopheles.

After several years of touring, they returned to the studio and subsequently came out with another full-length album, Lost Christmas Eve, and the accompanying DVD/3-CD release The Christmas Trilogy, which contained all three of their Christmas albums to date.

The band is, as of early 2005, working on a new non-Christmas album, Night Castle. It is projected to be released sometime in 2007 and is expected to feature the band's rendition of "O Fortuna" from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, performed as a preview by the band during their 2004, 2005, and 2006 tours.

Spent some time explaining to my daughter about the political implications of Black Sabbath's music pre 1974. I was four. I still got it.
