A little update from my side of things to show what I've been busy with the past few months! I will try to keep doing thess "Updates" monthly, to keep everyone's thirst for exclusive news bubbling! ;)

Octavius Recordings
First of all I'd like to announce the launch of my new label "Octavius Recordings". It will be a sister-label of FiveAM in the UK. It will be the home to more techno/tech-trance orientated tracks. I'd like to see it as not having boundaries. It will also be the home of my newly kicked off "Paul Mads" alias, for all your techno madness! I'm working very hard on finishing the Paul Mads album, but before that, we have releases forthcoming from the likes of M6, Dominic Dominion (by Orjan Nilsen), Evanya and of course Paul Mads! Official press release soon!

Busy times in the studio
Speaking of time, the brand new debut single of
Re:Locate vs. Sir Adrian "Times X" is recently signed to Armada and has shown early support from Armin himself! It's quite a heavy tech-banger with electro-esque vocals... Surely a floorfiller.
Sir Adrian and me are working on more singles, so if there's any news, that will be in one of the next bulletins!

Also Raz Nitzan, Sir Adrian and me are working on some extremely nice vocal tunes, which are surely going to blow your minds! Almost finished the first, and a couple of others to follow, keep your eyes pealed in the next updates!

Finally Mark Eteson and myself have finished our long awaited collaboration. The pure melodic trance-stomper Eteson vs. Octagen - "We Are Alone" comes in 2 flavours: Mark Eteson Mix and Octagen Mix, and when it's signed, you'll be the first to know!

Mr. Rutger and I have jumped back in the studio, after quite a big bit of a year of absence, to work on some fresh material, and decided to start working on a deep album. This album will contain everything from techno to deep house to progressive trance, as long as it contains the inmense depth we're aiming for.
And for the trance-lovers amongst you, don't worry, we finished a 2 track EP - consisting of Octagen & M.I.D.O.R. "Tesla" and "Substantial", which are melodic pieces! More information about that soon!

The E-collaboration - where would we be without internet these days - with Orjan Nilsen is also ready to rock. Orjan vs. Octagen - Lost Once, including an Orjan Mix and an Octagen Mix, will be forthcoming on my label Galactive Sounds, and should be released towards the end of the year!

Some of you might have seen it, I have signed a new Octagen Collected Works EP (volume 3) to FiveAM. It features the tracks "Consent", "Storm" and "Revival", all banging trancers which should appeal to the lovers of uplifting stuff.

Paul Mads, my new tech-project as mentioned above, will see its first release on Octavius. "Where Would You Be Without Me", including Octagen Abajo Mix and M6 Remix, should kick off Octavius when it launches. Expect nothing but banging material and trance-techno crossover! It really just goes all the way! More info soon!

Octagen vs. C-Quence - Dreams Die Hard, is still being finished. I know a lot of people are eagerly awaiting the release of this monster, we are doing our best to put a finishing touch to it and get it off! It will be released on FiveAM - as the gaming development always says - when its done.

Remixes
After the well-recieved remixes for Ferry Corsten, Viator and George Acosta, I'm working on a remix for Mystery Islands at the moment, which will be an energetic Octagen Remix. Also remixing the Evanya tune I'm going to release on Octavius, in a crazy Paul Mads Elec-tech Remix!
Oh, and lots of people have asked me when the Nu-NRG - Kosmosy remix will be out, I'm revising the remix as we speak, so when i've done that it shouldn't take too long to get out!

DJ-ing
DJ-ing is picking up nicely, having had gigs in England, Norway, Poland, The Netherlands and more... I can only say its going better than I expected! People really seem to like the sets and are enthusiastic when they read my name on a flyer. An honour!
Upcoming this weekend - 11-08-2007 - is the legendary FFWD Dance Parade
in Rotterdam, where Intuition hosts a truck, and I have the honour to kick off! 18-08-2007, back to the beach where Exclaim is hosting their infamous "At The Sea" party!
24-08-2007, will see me travel to Czech Republic to headline an event called "Beats & Melody v2", in Envelopa Hall, Olomouc. I'm really looking forward to this event since it's supposed to be one of the best events upcoming in Czech Republic. See you there?!

Almost 5000km of traveling in 36 hours… Shocked Woo, what a trip!

Saturday morning 9:30, we drove to Koln-Bonn Airport to take the plane to Warsaw. Where we found out the driver that was originally destined to pick us up, had an accident… Change of plans. Therefore we had to join 2 DJ's (Dervish & Mr. Root) on their drive up to Bartoszyce (roughly 330 km away), where they had to perform at the Orbital Festival. Clocking 20:30, after 3 hours and 30 minutes in the car, we stepped out, said goodbye and jumped to the next car.
Another driver (Przemek) took us to the club where I had to spin (Vegas Club), in a little village called Dabie (close to Bytow). Add another 300 km.

^ Flyer for the party

I've played a banging set for 2 hours, after crazy resident DJ Zabor (if you read this: you are a nutbag! Very Happy). Surprising to see a club in (seriously!) the middle of nowhere, quite packed (capacity 1500)! Amazing. Shocked Cool

Right after my set ended we jumped back in the car and drove back to Bartoszyce, where we stayed at the booked hotel. We arrived there at 5:30, and only 4 hours later our alarm woke us up, to take off to Warsaw, to make sure we would make check-in. Dervish & Mr. Root took us back once again, quick and safely, to arrive perfectly timed before check-in.Smile

So from 9 O'clock Saturday morning to roughly half an hour past midnight, we spent traveling, driving to Germany and with a flight in-between, after that up and down Poland, flight back to Koln-Bonn Airport and another 3 hours back to home. Dang! Shocked

Thanks for the crazy weekend everyone who was there! Thanks for the drive Przemek and Dervish & Root. Smile

P.S. At least I was finally able to see how fast my car could go (on the german autobahn)… Unfortunately I couldn't test it to the max, because of heavy traffic… Better luck next time!

P.P.S. Check out this map, I quickly drew up, to see the traveling I did! traveling map

Sun, sea, the beach, magic melodies and powerful beats. According to Intuition these are the exact ingredients of a perfect Intuition Summer Event. It's the one event every Intuition fan lives up to the whole year round, and so they will be happy to hear that this year it will be taking place at the nr. 1 beach venue in the Netherlands: ID-Ts Bloomingdale. On Saturday the 7th of July 2007, between 14:00 and 01:00, this spectacular venue will host the absolute top trance artists of the moment. A truly international lineup, spectacular event production and the best crowd in the world will guarantee this to be the hottest event of the summer, regardless of the weather!

After the astonishing success of the Intuition Summer Event 2006 in Scheveningen, 2007 makes way for a move to the best location one can possibly imagine for a summer trance party. Bloomingdale has been the highlight of the Dutch coastline for many years, and due to its classy interior, excellent facilities and unforgettable view of the ocean it attracts large flocks of Dutch and international visitors each year. Without a doubt Intuition and Bloomingdale are the perfect combination for the most memorable clubbing experience of the summer.

As you probably anticipated, the lineup Intuition managed to put together this year is of an international nature. Deep dark trance beats, progressive and techno influences and of course a healthy dosage of uplifting trance will cater everyones hunger for quality dance music. Trance in the broadest sense, this is the lineup of the Intuition Summer Event 2007:

M.I.K.E. aka. Push [BE]
Cor Fijneman vs. Mark Norman [NL]
Gareth Emery aka. GTR [UK]
Solar Stone [UK] – NL Debut!
Airwave (Live) [BE]
Galen Behr [NL]
Re:Locate ft. Sir Adrian (Live Vocals) [NL]
Sied van Riel [NL]
&
Menno de Jong [NL]

M.I.K.E. is a well known name from the history of trance. This kind Belgian soul has been the muse of many trance listeners with tracks appearing under aliases such as Push & Plastic Boy.
Black Hole Recordings is represented by two of the top names from their musical collective. Mark Norman & Cor Fijneman will be performing a rare back 2 back session, something that until now has only been seen on Trance Energy and their exclusive '80 Days Around The World' tour.
What would a trance event be without the current prodigy of UK trance. Gareth Emery left the Dutch audience in awe with his spectacular set at Trance Energy 2007 and will come back to rock the house once more.
Solar Stone, also from the UK, will be making their exclusive Dutch debut at the Intuition Summer Event this year. With a long range of trance classics and a new album on the way they will undoubtedly charm the ears of the true trance fanatics.

Another highlight of the Intuition Summer Event 2007 will be the performance of the legendary Belgian Airwave. Armed with his keyboard and avant garde hardware he puts down a modern dance live performance like no other.
As usual Intuition has an eye for future talent. Galen Behr has already made quite a name for himself in the past years, but with a breakthrough closing in, Intuition was convinced this would be just the time to show how close that moment is!
As the main artist on top notch label Galactive, Re:Locate boasts a long list of quality releases and remixes. Since his DJ debut earlier this year he has been conquering Europe at an astonishing rate. Expect some top tunes from his massive album "Rogue" as well as vocal support by Sir Adrian, who has has recorded several bombs in the studio with Re:Locate the past few months.
Sied van Riel is another one of those guys you will be hearing a lot of in the future. Intuition fanatics already witnessed his sublime Djing skills at Intuition Invites last year, and so he will kick off the Summer Event with a hot fudge of progressive and progressive trance.
Last but not least, what would an Intuition event be without the captain himself: Menno de Jong. With a refreshing trackselection, a list of top productions behind his name as well as a quality mixalbum delivered, he is growing into one of the go-to-guys of the trance scene. Drawing bigger crowds worldwide as his agenda gets busier and busier, Menno has kept the 7th of July 2007 open for his favorite party of the year!

As usual Intuition Recordings will be doing their very best to give visitors absolute value for money. An international quality lineup, a spectacular lightshow, the hottest beach venue there is and as a finishing touch: Vocal support by MC Stephen, who has charmed the ears of earlier Intuition events with well balanced, crowd exciting microfone magic! For those who want to rest their legs, Bloomingdale will be stocked with plenty of space to chill out and enjoy a cold cocktail, or a fine dish prepared by the chefs of their quality cuisine.

E-tickets are available through the easy to use reservation system on www.intuitionrecordings.com for only EUR 12.50 a ticket. A limited amount of tickets will be available at the door for EUR 15.

Paul Moelands, better known as Re:Locate, is a man on fire at the moment. With releases and remixes stretching back to 2003 and appearances on 34 compilations over the past 3 years, he is probably one of the hottest producers in trance today. Now his stock is up even more as demand grows all over the world for his services as a DJ since he started playing to expectant crowds back in February. But what is there to know about this Dutch wonder?

Making his London debut for ElectronicSessions on the 28th April, you'll be able to find out exactly what all the fuss is about if, of course, you are not already one of the anxious trance lovers buzzing with anticipation to hear his great sound first hand. And why not with all the support he's already been enjoying for his productions. Ross Sullivan caught up with Paul ahead of his first appearance so you can find out more about him and what to expect on the 28th!

Hi Paul. How are things with you? Are you having a good year?

Hey there! I'm absolutely fantastic, couldn't be better. My year started awesome! I had my DJ Debut in February and ever since good things have been rolling in, both professionally and personally. I can't complain at all!

So what new material have you been working on?

There's a lot of awesome new material coming up! The New Re:Locate single is finished! It's a banging, techy tune featuring a great male vocalist, which heads in a slightly different direction from the previous Re:Locate tracks. I've also got a bunch of collaborations with MIDOR and some fresh Octagen material out soon on FiveAM and Monster Tunes. There's a lot to look out for!

What would you say best describes your sound at the moment?

DJ Wise, banging uplifting trance with a pinch of tech. Production wise, everything really!

How did you get your first big break DJing?

I got an email from a party organizer in Poland around Christmas last year. They wondered if I was interested in DJing at an event there for 10,000 people. I still remember that day, it made very clear to me that I should start playing and so I did.

I've only heard and seen good things about the UK! It's a new experience for me, as I haven't had the opportunity to travel to the UK let alone play there before. On the 13th of April I have a gig in Leeds at Digital Society, then Electronic Sessions the 28th of April. After that it's The Gallery on the 15th of June. I can't wait! That's for sure.

Do you get to go out clubbing much and which DJs do you admire?

I go out to clubs and trance events regularly. Living in Holland, we can see a big DJ every weekend. One of the DJs I admire the most is Tiësto, who has pushed the whole trance scene forward over the past few years. In my opinion he still is the best DJ. I've visited his Schiphol "Tiësto In Concert" Showcase and it was amazing. It seems he is really one step ahead of everyone else.

What was the best club you ever played and why?

Well the first Event I played at was in a big sports arena in Poland. It held 10,000 mad clubbers, and it was my worldwide DJ Debut, so that was amazing! There were fireworks and everything! 88 minutes of pure adrenaline rush!

Who were your main inspirations for getting into dance music?

Tiësto, back in the day. I would visit his record shop in my town and just listen to Dance Department on radio 538. Playing the piano for 12 years and loving to improvise also made clear to me I should produce music.

Who has influenced your sound as it is today?

First of all, my parents. My dad is also a musician and my parents told me I could start playing an instrument. I think that decision influenced me the most. For trance sounds, I've always loved the feeling Signum have put into their productions, that raw energy. Other influences are Tiesto, Ferry Corsten and Ralphie B.

You have quite a few aliases including Re:Locate and Octagen, where did you get the ideas for these names from?

Octagen was a slight mistyping of Oxygen or Octagon, I can't exactly recall, but I thought that it sounded good, so I stuck with it. Re:Locate is a different story. In school we had a project about organizing an event and another group had a event called Re:Location. I asked their permission, since I thought it was quite cool.

What's been your biggest achievement so far?

Waterfall got me propelled into the trance scene, with every big DJ supporting it. Rogue featured in the Dutch Mega Top 100 and got great support as well. Another big milestone has to be the title track of my Re:Locate debut album! Reactions were great. I think the fact that I can produce music and do my own thing for a living is also a great achievement. My debut in Poland is far up there too!

Do you prefer to play massive events and festivals or smaller more intimate venues?
Massive events tend to have this huge euphoric feeling. It's great to be a part of that and put clubbers in a trance. But you have a closer connection with your audience at smaller venues, which can be nice and very special as well!

Finally, were really looking forward to having you play for us at ES. What can we expect from your set?

I'm very much looking forward to it as well! You can expect proper banging uplifting trance, combined with some tech-trance elements, all mixed into one big journey of Re:Locate sounds! See you there!
