Check out the review from Peter Karoly at 360 Main Street:

An exerpt:

"They may call it "Good Hair," but the 10 tracks on this CD add up to what I call 'excellent album'.  Musique Noire is a classy group that can move in any musical direction with ease and grace."

One of our new fans from the Flint Jazz festival kept saying  . . ."You all took me BACK to the 60's and the sounds of The Soulful Strings!" Had never heard of them, but apparently they were a big deal. A wonderful ensemble from Chicago, whose albums are now out of print and can be had for a LOT of money as imports. Would LOVE to know who played strings on these records. Here's a sample:

We are truly saddened by the sudden death of Michael Jackson.  He had quite an influence as far as his musical work ethic.  We pray for his family.

Mike, you will be missed.

Dusty Groove America is a very well-known online record store with a brick-and-mortar counterpart in Chicago.  We're featured on their home page ("New Arrivals") with a very nice review of our debut CD, "Good Hair":

"A very cool little project -- an instrumental set that's heavy on string-based instruments -- kind of an electrified string quartet, and one with a pretty funky feel at times too! Group members mix together violin, viola, and percussion with a bit of guitars and bass -- using the instruments playfully, and in a variety of settings that almost recall some of the instrumental revolutions of the 80s -- kind of a space between Kronos Quartet and some of the more creative combos of the New York scene. There's just a bit of vocals on the record, but the main focus is instrumental -- and the rhythms bring in a lot of world echoes, creating a cross-cultural vibe at times. Titles include "Undiscovered D's", "Heretic", "Eleanor Rigby", "Uncle Check's Cha Cha", "La Fiesta", "Shrug", "Good Hair", and "Twilight".  © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc."

Check them out for all your record needs, they carry a lot of new and vintage titles.

There is a WONDERFUL website showcasing the work of an amazing organization that is helping women take care of their minds, bodies and souls.  Their mission states:

Center of Wellness for Urban Women, Inc (CWUW), founded in 2007, empowers women and their families to become proactive in their health by improving their mind, body, and spirit through education, advocacy, care, and prevention.  Utilizing the 7 Dimensions of Wellness, CWUW recognizes the mind, body, and spirit connection leads to total health and well-being.

PLEASE be sure to check them out--they have a couple of our songs streaming in their "Reflection Room", but they have so much more good stuff going on! Click below:
