Decibel & Shameless present...
DISKO CASSÉ
Saturday September 26th
Main Room
Brodinski - DJ : Paris
Boysnoize / Turbo Recordings

Brodinski is the most exciting dj and
producer to explode onto the scene in recent years. Yes, he may hail
from France (Reims, Lille) but he is quite unlike any of his Parisian
peers. His taste in music is broad and this is reflected in his own
productions and dj sets which may encompass noisy techno, bass heavy
house through to more melodic minimal.
Brodinski has remixed Bonde de Role,
Klaxons, Das Pop, Shoes, D.I.M, Heart Revolutions and Adam Sky. Each
remix has had a different approach, from the acidic (D.I.M), to vocal
techno (Das Pop) to melancholic end-of-nighters (Klaxons). This
May he has two releases readied to rock the summer: Gold-digger which
is a primitive house groove with ululating sirens and vocal gruntsollowed
by an as yet untitled techno bomb. http://www.myspace.com/brodinskimusic
CLP featuring Chris De Luca - Live : Berlin
Shitkatapult / Boysnoize / !K7

As Funkstorung, Chris de Luca and partner
Michael Fakesch released an uncountable amount of records on !K7, Compost
Records, Acid Planet, Musik aus Strom and many more. Especially their
remixes for Bjork, Wu-Tang Clan, Speedy J and Plaid attracted worldwide
attention. Their unique mix of old school hip hop and cut-up beats can
confidently be called groundbreaking for the genre. Right on time for
Funkstorung's 10th anniversary in 2005 the album "Return To The
Acid Planet" was released. It shall be their last. In 2005, de
Luca moved to Berlin and in the spring of 2006, Funkstorung split up.
At the end of the last millennium, East
German buddies Carsten and Sascha went out into the big wide world –
to Berlin. Sascha became Apparat, Carsten turned into Phon.o. Since
then, Phon.o released a number of 12 inches, EPs and two albums on labels
such as Cytrax, Detroit Underground, Normoton, Tigerbeat6 and T.Raumschmiere's
Shitkatapult. His last album "Burn Down The Town", released
in 2005 on Shitkatapult, is a firework of techno, booty hip hop and
eurocrunk. It made vocalists such as Kevin Blechdom, Gold Chains and
Detroit MC Stadik fight over the mic.
Chris de Luca and Carsten met in 2004,
when Phon.o was support act for Funkstorung's "Disconnected"-Tour.
They liked each other so much that without further ado Phon.o was let
loose on the masses again at Funkstorung's "Isolated Triple Media"
release party. Craziness galore on the dancefloor! For the release of
his last album, Phon.o then invited de Luca to fool around with his
single "Trick Or Treat" and strike back with a remix. De Luca
was bubbling over with ideas and it was only a matter of time before
the two would team up.
De Luca and Phon.o officially joined
forces in the spring of 2006. Since then, they've been rocking clubs
and festivals all over Europe with their ass-kicking sets as "Chris
de Luca vs. Phon.o," recently dropping some letters to call themselves
CLP from now on. This unconventional combination of intergalactic hip
hop, ghetto beats, sexy booty IDM and dirty techno goes beyond typical
contemporary genre boundaries. Berlin, there is new shit in town and
it doesn't stink!
In the last year CLP worked like crazy
apes, releasing a full album on Shitkatapult and letting club sound
magician Boys Noize hire them for a 12” guest performance on Boysnoize
Records. They followed these efforts with a new EP for Shitkatapult
featuring Kovas, with remixes from Housemeister, Bugati
Force, Litwinenko, and Unsportsmanlike. It’s time to CLaP!http://www.chrisdelucavsphono.com/news.html
Hookerz & Blow feat. EPROM and Mozaic- Live : San Francisco
Dirtybird

Hookerz & Blow (a side project by
Mozaic & EPROM) is a live DJ vs laptop mashup already laying waste
to unsuspecting dancefloors in the Bay Area and beyond with stupid fresh
jams best described as Psyphy, Strip-Hop, Trancehall, Clubstep, and
Halfway House....Need a visual aid? Picture it: It's the summer of '99
and the bastard love child of Daft Punk and E-40 is on a Green Tortoise
from Oakland to downtown L.A. to go hear Derrick May at a warehouse
party with some friends, but gets stranded in Santa Cruz when 2 Live
Crew attempts to hijack the bus- only to be thwarted by some shady Dn'B
kids who happened upon the scene during a routine beer run, but nonetheless
leaving our travelling raver S.O.L. The wee hours eventually find our
protagonist stumbling onto a full moon party on Bonny Doon beach, where
he candy flips with some of the strongest acid and MDMA known to man,
and ends up watching the sun come up over the Pacific to a soundtrack
of King Tubby and slowed-down Si Begg records. Later on, a bad trip
is triggered during an ugly incident with a local "light worker
and powerful healer" forcing a hasty exodus. A ride is hitched
back to SF with some coke dealers from Salinas on their way to the Endup.
Our hero is talked into one last detour at said club, but is later ejected
for heckling the DJ for playing too much "warmed over diva house."
That, in a very long-winded nutshell, is the sound of Hookerz &
Blow.

Truckasaurus - Live : Seattle
Fourthcity

Fueled by an inhuman amount of Maker’s
Mark and whatever kind of beer they can get their hands on, a bunch
of self-proclaimed gear nerds have accumulated more firepower than Donald
Trump. Armed with an arsenal of vintage Roland drum machines and synths,
all sequenced by a modded first-gen Gameboy, Truckasauras create analog
electro loops that skitter over starkly minimal drums; a sound (is it
techno? is it hip-hop?) that straddles the chasm between goofiness and
sincerity, and does so with aplomb. Citing influences ranging from Aphex
Twin to 2 Live Crew, it’s next to impossible to pigeonhole the group
into any one genre.
The Truck’s debut album, Tea Parties,
Guns and Valor boasts 9 original tracks, a cover of the theme from “Airwolf,”
and an array of remixes by some of the Northwest’s biggest names in
electronic music: Copy, DJ Collage, and Jerry Abstract all try a hand
at reworking the group’s signature sound.
The true Truck experience, however,
is through their live sets. Fishing vests, trucker hats emblazoned with
bald eagles, and American flags-as-capes are the fashion de rigueur
for this crew, who stand in front of a projected VHS mashup of monster
truck rallies, helicopter explosions, and homoerotic WWF matches. A
pseudo-patriotic A/V extravaganza punctuated by megaphone squeals and
synchronized (if unintentionally) head-bobbing, the foursome weave in
and out of each other’s way, tweaking knobs over here, pushing buttons
over there, all the while making the crowd go nuts with their quirky
mix of white-trash sensibility and all-out musical mastery. http://www.myspace.com/teapartiesgunsnvalor
214 - Live : Seattle
Mikrolux / AI Recordings / Pyramid Transmissions

TwoFourteen effortlessly blends lush
Latin roots with robo-transformer trips, always maintaining a skillful
balance between the nasty, the not-right, the cold, hard, and just-right
-- all at the same time. He's got plenty of tricks up his proverbial
record sleeve. And he's been pulling them out for years now. His Puerto
Rican birthright and Miami upbringing are apparent when he's pumping
out sci-fi roller disco sounds, but when his vibe turns to the cold
dark comfort of Detroit-esque minimal mind funk, it would seem this
man forgets from whence he came. It's a memory lapse that sounds like
a lapdance in the side room of a space ship. More importantly, it's
a memory lapse that works. Wherever you can find it, count on TwoFourteen
for premium blend electro and assorted savory flavors from the future.http://www.myspace.com/two4ourteen

JOEE IRWIN (Klientele / Palms Out Sounds, NY)
Joee Irwin was exposed to the midwest rave scene in the 90's in a
place where the DJs played Italo Disco. Joee fell full tilt into the
world of electronic music. The soundtracks of those early underground
parties have stuck with him. He's zig-zaged the United States and
always found himself at the forefront of the music scenes he comes
across.
An accomplished DJ who has shared the stage with rosters of top tier
acts all over the country and a music blogger who writes for the
widely-read Palms Out Sounds. Joee transplanted from Portland, Oregon
to Brooklyn, New York in October of 2008. In that time he's been
focusing on production and June saw his first release, "Punch Card" on
Angel Alanis' label, Klientele, and many more releases and collaborations,
will be seeing light throughout the next year.

(See Sound Lounge) Tonight marks the debut of a Thursday-night weekly called Bangers & Mash that promises to shake things up at Belltown's swanky See Sound Lounge. Kicking things off is "international bass champion" Drop the Lime (aka Curses!, born Luca Venezia), who mangles Baltimore breaks, classic house, bassline, and anything else that abides a deep love of deep bass into dance-floor-killing frenzies. Supporting him are some of Seattle's finest party-starters: DJ Recess, Fourcolorzack, Tigerbeat (dude gets the people wilding out on fuckin' Mondays), and Nordic Soul, whose gleeful, anthem-blasting DJ set opening up for Simian Mobile Disco proves the Decibel head can work the hell out of a populist playlist. Future Bangers & Mash bookings include Tittsworth in May and Tommie Sunshine in June. ERIC GRANDY

JOEY, BE NICE. Since last year's Famous Records release, Scratchmaster Joe aka Nicemaster Nice aka Joe Martinez has been doing his best to exorcise his demons, drag the skeletons out of the closet and doggone it, just be nice. Can he do it? Has he really gotten closer to the plane of the Nicemaster? You can decide for yourself...

:: SCRATCHMASTER JOE : Joey, Be Nice CD Release & DJ Set :: AKA JOE MARTINEZ : SEATTLE : Famous Records www.myspace.com/scratchmasterjoe www.famouswebsite.net/smj.htm www.brushedgolden.com/BG/content.php?p=shop&item=FAME002 JOEY, BE NICE is a follow up to the well-received 2008 release “Scratchmaster Joe is Nicemaster Nice,” also on Famous Records. Even after last year's "Nicemaster" release and a new and well-placed tattoo that reads, “be nice,” Joe still hasn’t managed to get his dr. jerk & ms. hymen halves to play nice, hence the need for another disc urging self-awareness and continued vigilance.
The disc's strictly snob-bred and obsessively written tracks are quite simply personalities. With this release Joe eschews all ghetto nastiness; he decisively allows tracks to breathe naturally, infusing sections with original and intriguing scratch and beat-juggle sections with an emphasis on quality. The material on the disc is sourced from original vinyl recordings dating from 1982 to 2003 and shows an emphasis on the 1990s. This release covers a span of genres from hip-hop to electronic to space-age pop, surprisingly conducted by a 77 year old Esquivel. The material on Scratchmaster Joe's latest release was originally performed at the Free Sheep Foundation, with Filastine and Truckasaurus. It was created with you (music snobs) in mind, so please enjoy.
"Atlanta has T.I. and T.I.P., Seattle has Scratchmaster Joe and Nicemaster Nice." - Eric Grandy - The Stranger
"Musically, he's an egotistical showman, a championship-level turntablist that shows off the results of years planted in front of a pair of decks." - Donte Parks - The Stranger
"The rhythms and tones Joe derives and wields are unendingly danceable. It was completely spell binding to watch him work. True vinyl genius.” - Trent Moornman - The Stranger

:: RECESS : DJ Set :: SEATTLE: Shameless / Club Pop / Forward
www.simplyshameless.com www.myspace.com/djrecess
RECESS was raised on the industrial, new wave, and pop music of the final two decades of the last century. In the late 80's Recess found his second home at the now defunct Club Underground in Seattle's University District. Using these early experiences as a platform, he started collecting records and honing his skills at various clubs around the Northwest quickly establishing himself as a formidable performer. Recess is the main force behind Shameless in Seattle (Broken Disco, Electric Avenue, BootyLIB, the Official Decibel Festival afterparties and numerous other local one offs with artists such as Modeselektor, Drop the Lime, Egyptian Lover, Godfather & Tittsworth) and he continues to turn heads with his unique take on dance music. He's played alongside heavy hitters such as Modeselektor, Green Velvet, Felix Da Housecat, Damian Lazarus, MSTRKRFT, John Tejada, DJ Assault, Ewan Pearson and could quite easily be caught playing electro/discopunk at one club, baile funk/bmore club/ghetto tech at another, or techno/house/breaks depending upon the crowd and party. His versatility has led to being nominated in 2006 for the Seattle Weekly's Best Local DJ contest. Whether it's an afterhours loft space, major club, mountaintop, or random BASSment; Recess consistently brings the sounds and energy to fit any dance party. :: NKO : Live :: SEATTLE : Free Sheep Foundationfreesheepfree.org/ blog.seattlepi.com/art/archives/149484.asp NKO usually paints (see the Georgetown Wall, Monique Mural project, and the Free Sheep Foundation). But at this event, NKO is setting aside the paint and setting up hardware to play grimy, noisy, analogy, hardware stuff. The sounds will have the listener trying to decide where the halfway point between hip hop and hardcore is in his music. While it may seem very experimental it will also be very good. Just remember, no pics allowed.
