Despite touring up and down much of the East Coast in early 2008, we finally get to have our first hometown gig this year this Friday night.
We'll be joined by fellow locals My Fiction and the token tourists Max Judo, both of whom have had equally big starts to the year, at Uber in West End.
Hailing from the Tweed Coast, Max Judo are no strangers to the big stages of the world, recently returning from their second tour of the US and having already toured Japan as well as playing the Big Day Out, Woodford Folk Festival and the Quicksilver Pro.
My Fiction may already sound familiar to many Jake fans as several members are our old gigging buddies hailing from Wipsnade Zoo. Between numerous gigs, and traveling across Japan with Something For Kate, My Fiction have been busy putting the finishing touches to their debut EP with the first single "Your Tokyo" ready to hit the airwaves (check out the trippy video on myspace).
With all three bands itching to reacquaint themselves with the local punters, Uber will be the place for live music on Friday night. Action starts at 10pm, entry is free, and be sure to bring your party shoes.

A Happy New Year to everyone and a big welcome to the recent additions to this mailing list that we met at our shows down the NSW North Coast over the New Year period. Friday night we hit the Cat & Fiddle Hotel in Balmain along with locals Mike Factor, Nathan Wheldon & The Two Timers and Mango Stone (www.myspace.com/mangostone). Mango Stone will even jump in the van with us the next day to keep us company at the Pot Belly Bar in Canberra. Canberra lads, The Chuffs (www.myspace.com/thechuffs), will round out Saturday night's lineup.

Looking for a way to kick back next Sunday afternoon? Wanna see some bands but have to get up early on Monday?? Keen for some mellow acoustic sounds coz your ears are still ringing from Saturday night??? Want a selection of great drinks, awesome coffee and sensational food????
Why not drop into the Sunday afternoon sessions at the Calypso Bar in Paddington?!?
On Sunday 11th November, The Jake will be kicking off the afternoon session with a cruisy acoustic set from 3.30pm. The music doesn't stop there though, as more acoustic artists will follow into the evening.
Once the acoustic guitars are locked away, it's time to get loud again with a pre-xmas gig at the Great Northern Hotel in Byron Bay. We'll be teaming up with local lads Max Judo for what promises to be a very big night. Also keep your ears peeled for a few more gigs around that time.
And finally a huge congratulations also goes out to our Creative Vibes label-mate Gotye who walked away with the Aria Award for Best Male Artist on the weekend. Goodonya Wally!!

Brizzy trio Namaste Jake have been spreading their psychedelic funky pop vibes across the local scene for a few years now. However, their latest stint in the studio has not only yielded a new EP, but also a change of name. The boys are now referred to simply as The Jake.
The band teamed up with acclaimed local producer, Jeff Lovejoy to handle production duties on the new release. A move that resulted in The Jake branching off in even more novel directions, while still maintaining their distinctive, quirky sound.
"More To Life" will be launched at the Shamrock Hotel in Fortitude Valley on Saturday 9th December with help from Wipsnade Zoo on what will be their final ever show as well as rootsy newcomers, 5 Days Camel.
"More To Life" is distributed nationally through Creative Vibes.

Live music has finally returned to Brisbane's historic Globe Theatre. And this Saturday 17th June we get to test out The Globe's awesome new sound system along with two of Briz Vegas' hottest new bands, Blank Czech and El Borracho.
Blank CZECH Brisbanes newest and most edgy hillbilly blues outfit, features Russell Smith on washboard and stomp box, Stuart Docherty crankin it on slide guitar and charismatic front man Junior Hickey gettin down and dirty on blues harp and vocals. They tend to come out after dark and need plenty of room for dancers to throw themselves around and howl at the moon.
The infamous, lightning fast cowpunk rockabilly band el borracho will headline the 17th of June with their unique style, which has been described as a collision between Johnny Cash and Johnny Winter.
Like Hank Williams on angeldust, this stylised four piece has been tearing up the live music scene, both in Oz and abroad, creating a vibe of amphetamine country, and taking their fans on a journey that few have lived to retell the tale.
Get yourself on down to The Globe at 220 Brunswick Street Fortitude Valley where the doors open at 8pm. Make sure to pack your dancing shoes.
