Hey Everyone!
We've added a couple of new shows to the calendar, and I wanted to let you all know that you can now find my random comments on facebook.  So many of you have written me great messages lately here on myspace, but I'm startung to visit facebook more these days and would love to hear from all of you there.  "Friend me!"

In addition to the Eugene shows at Happy Hours coming up (next one is Oct 9th) we've booked a couple new gigs at Goodfellas in Springfield.  I'm gonna be looking for YOU there - so come out and party with us at Goodfellas on Nov 13th.  It's Friday the 13th, a great pagan celebration and lucky day, sacred to Freya Goddess of LOVE.  Yes, I know that today it's thought of as "ooh scairy" but we like the old tradition better.  We'll be doing 4 sets, and we often toss in some crazy stuff at these kinds of shows - it'll be fun!

luv,
Scarlet

To everybody who came out and rocked with us last weekend in Roseburg - a gigantic thank you!  The crowd was awesome and we had a great time.  (And to Roger the sound guy, thanks so much, I know you put a lot of time into that big show and from what I heard it sounded killer out front.)

The other bands were hot... and how many great guys could you fit into one show?  Sometimes we forget to mention just how cool our fellow musicians really are.

I know you want to know what's up, so we'll be updating the bio with the new additions and even possible substitutions - as Rock Scarlet grows and evolves, we'll try and keep the site up to speed.  I've been posting little bits on Facebook and Twitter, as well as on my own site at ScarletJinn.com - but I'm pretty lazy about this myspace page.  So this is my small effort to catch up.

You've seen Richie's still pounding the drums, and you've seen Aaron burning guitar riffs with Brian... and you've heard the new tunes.  We're in a fun bunch of changes.

Meanwhile, through all the changes, we've kept true to our positive vibe and powerful sound, and it's paying off, if I can judge by the great emails and comments we get.  Keep 'em coming!  You guys are the reason for the shows, and I guess you know that

Keep watching for Psychanaut to come to fruition, it'll be even more crazy and fun, yet the music will still be more of what Rock Scarlet does best.  We won't disappoint you!

Finally, we expect to finish the next video to have shown on the local station soon.  There's a lot of footage to sift thru, but it'll be worth it.

To all of you, keep rockin-
luv, Scarlet

Hey everyone!
If you've been checking my personal blog at http://www.scarletjinn.com/blog you already know all the latest stuff, but it's been brought to my attention that I''ve severely neglected our myspace page.    So here's a quick update...

Yes Yes Yes, you can come to this year's CresFest, but please contact us for the address.  It's semi-private and at this time, they don't want it posted online.  But don't be shy, we'd love to see you there.  Just send a message.  Last year was fun, and this year the stage is supposed to be even bigger!

We've recently decided to cancel nearly all our out of town shows and focus on just playing local and nearby areas only.  So now there's new  openings in our late summer/fall calendar.  It wasn't easy to make this decision, but for right now, that's what we're doing.  We'll still do an ocassional Portland gig here and there.

Come listen to the latest songs that have been just mixed.  The newest addition is Marmalade Moonlight, and you can check it out on our website and also at SoundClick.  There's a sample here: http://www.rockscarlet.com/music.html

I'll be checking myspace a little more regularly now!   There are so many wonderful people that are only to be found here

Well, I haven't been checking into myspace all that often, so this myspace blog has been neglected quite a bit.  But good news!  I have a new blog that's posted here: http://www.scarletjinn.com  I'm still playing with the look of the blog, but as of now you're invited to check it out.

So far it's just about the tunes, the recording updates, and a bit about spacey visions and dreams - stuff like that.  I haven't yet posted the link at rockscarlet.com but I will soon.

So come on by and be the first to leave a  comment.

luv U all!

Well it's been a long time since I've checked in and blogged...Dunno where the time goes, but love it we do, even tho it's challenging to stay off the treadmill and just float thru the days...

we're working/playing on our recording as well as doing just one show a month during the winter chill.   Anyway, we really had some fun at Diablos in November and December, we did 2 sets at each of those shows and had a chance to stretch out a bit, do some fun material that usually doesn't get into the showcase sets. Surprising how many of our die-hard rockers came up and commented on the other material.  And it got me thinking (which may or may not be dangerous!)...

Even though we're often billed as a "stadium style rock band" we do have some other stuff: psychedelic tunes, soulful power ballads, even a bayou influenced thing that  came outa nowhere...and some stuff that's more melodic...  I'm thinking we need to let some of the promoters know about this, as our "loud band, rock screamer" reputation keeps us out of some places and maybe locked into some others.   Yes, we love to rock!!!

We did the Wetlands a couple weeks back, just a showcase set...and had a blast!  The Rock Scarleteers were out in full force; there's some photos of 'em in the Special Friends section of our website's photo gallery.  You guys are the best!!!

Meanwhile, Brian has been editing some of our video footage into a video... he's somewhat mastered that software and it looks good - think he's got a real artistic knack for it.  It captures the silliness and fun we have on stage as well as the strength of each player...when we have a final version we'll post it on rockscarlet.com

Oh yeh, another old friend has managed to find me via myspace!  I've lost count how many people have blasted out of the past here on this site.  It's pretty amazing how our connections keep flashing back - gotta love it!///

The non-linear circular flow of time continues!  We've had to turn down several Portland shows which has left us with actual time to do other stuff, so that's the proverbial silver lining...There's always lots to do with this project even when we're not gigging - We've been taking advantage of this relatively mellow time to get back into the recording project- YAY!

Some of this material has been sitting here since spring, (when we got too busy playing to finish it) and it was actually really good to be too busy for awhile and now listen to it fresh.  As often happens, some of the songs that we tend to leave out of the live sets just sound soooo good when recorded!  Like Tomorrow and Marmelade Moonlight - man, they just wrap around you and pull you into our altered Rock Scarlet Reality!   We've been going through all the tunes and sifting out the jewels for completion.  This CD is gonna be great!

And, during this time that we're not gigging, we've also been able to work up some of the new songs.  These won't be on the next CD, but the one after that.  Anyway,  I'd guess there's about a dozen in the  cooker.  As many of you know, well over half the lyrics come in dreams...so sometimes we have to wait for them, and other times a bunch come all at once.   Anyway, this time, we're arranging/writing them more together, with Brian, Richie and I jamming on them and letting them blossom.  In the past it has been just Brian and I - so these new songs will have a bit more band influence I think, which is actually where I want to go.

So at the next show, Diablos on November 3rd, we'll debut a new song or three for the first time, however many get done enough to present.  It's always fun to see how a new tune goes over live and to get your feedback.  Be there and tell us what you think!

I'm going to add a personal note to the next newsletter which should go out this week - stuff about some of the new songs, maybe answer a question or two about the current material (there's always questions about lyrics and other craziness) and just basically communicate with our friends and subscribers.  If you want to subscribe, you'll get notified of shows too.  Just visit our regular website at
http://www.rockscarlet.com and on the lower left corner of every page is a subscription form.  Come on in, join the Rock Scarlet Reality!

See you on the other side...

Finally a show right in Eugene!  Since we are back in our home town, we were able to have our light guy come work the show, making it a bit more dramatic and giving it a bit 'o flair.  And it was great to once again play to some of our original crowd, friends, disc jockies etc. who've been so  supportive, coming to see us since the birth of Rock Scarlet.  Plus we met some glorious new friends!!!

So we got our buddies IB6UB9 to open up and had a great crowd.  Several people took photos and we also got some decent video of the show...actually some really good shots (thanks Frank!).

Now the question is: does anybody know how to edit video?!?!  We've got three or four very different venues, and want to edit it together to make it more interesting.  We do have some cool video editing software - but gasp!  Who's got time to read that gigantic manual?  If you do video and want to help out, email us - and maybe we can get this video out quickly!

We have another show at Diablos on Nov 3rd and we've pretty much decided that Rock Scaret will do TWO sets!!!  Since we often stick with just one set, this'll be an opportunity to check out more of our tunes - expect a couple brand new ones that we're just writing NOW... maybe a new remake, and some vintage Scarlet that we haven't played in a while.  Requests?  Just email us!

Meanwhile, we've had a few Portland show offers for October, but all of our schedules are getting crazier and we haven't been able to figure out a night that works for everybody.  So I'll keep you posted!

Must go outside now...Its a beautiful night, and I've got Crystalline Sunshine in my eyes!
Rock ON!!

Well we've been busy and I'm needing to  catch up a little bit.  The show at the Roseland in Portland was super fun, we finally got to meet the sexy Silver Diamond in person, and working with her is a total pleasure!

We also had killer photos taken by Jim at Digital Photo Northwest.  Jim is the best!!!  If your band wants good photos, he's the guy to call.    Our new default photo is one of his...and he's posted the whole batch of 'em on his gallery, take a look... http://digitalphotonorthwest.smugmug.com/gallery/1842974/9/92351267

Now we've got a little time to mellow out and we're coming up with some brand new songs... as fall sets in, we should have some time to get back to recording the CD we started early summer.  I'm really happy to hear you guys singing some of the choruses with me - love it!! - and when the CD is released it'll have all the lyrics included this time.

Keep Rockin' everyone...we love U!!!

Wow, we had a great time at the Brittfest...the crew there made our stay super easy - who wouldn't love the hotel and the gift baskets, catering, and such nice folk?

It was a sold-out show and the crowd was just great!  Our set was short and sweet, but the crowd was nice and noisy and gave us the screams we wanted.    Styx was fabulous, of course, and we just had a blast opening up for them.

So thanks to everybody that was there, and to the people who've provided a few photos... they're up on our photo page at http://www.rockscarlet.com/pics.html   And, if you have more pics, email 'em to us, we'll happily post them.

This friday September 1st we'll be at the Roseland Grill in Portland.  Silver has told me that the show'll start a bit early, like 8PM.  Four rockin' bands (we're up second) so it should be a fun night of powerhouse rock! - You can get tickets at the door or at ticketswest -  come out and party with the band!

The following week we'll be at Diablos in Eugene with our friends IB6-UB9 and two other cool bands...this show also starts early.  It's the night of the eugene celebration so stop on in and ROCK with us!
