So I'm thinking about paying my bills that are always due at the end of the month and saying to myself "It's not due till the 30th, you're still cool" When I suddenly remember that there is no 30th in the month of February. Then I wonder as to why that is... It seems to me we have this pattern now : 31, 28, 31, 30, 31, 30, 31, 31, 30, 31, 30, 31 which means that one month (feb.) is a complete freak lacking 2 to 3 days. AND 2 times in our year we have back to back months with 31 days...

So my wonderment is why not make it 31, 30, 31, 30, 31, 30, 31, 30, 30, 31, 30, 30... if you take a day away from each Aug and Dec. and give them to February then we'd have all months with either 30 or 31 days. I realize this gives us two times in our year that we have 30-day months twice in a row but I feel bad for February.

The only other option as I see it is to make all months equal and add a new month and call it Smarch (in honor of the simpsons) that has 29 days and make the rest of the months have only 28... that makes your entire year broken into 13 4 week periods with 1 FREE DAY at the end of the year where everyone agrees to do absolutely nothing.

I can already see anyone who actually reads this complaining about 2 things:
#1 - What about leap year?
------In situation one we give December back it's stolen day once every 4 years.
------In situation two we have an extra FREE DAY meaning we do absolutely nothing for 2 days in a row.

and...
#2 - What about the knuckle thing?
------I realize some of you have no idea what this is but it is a mnemonic device using the knuckles of your hands next to each other to tell which months have more days and which have less. But we wouldn't need such a system if we went with the second option of adding Smarch and making all months 28 days...

In any case if someone actually read all of this tell me I'm crazy if you think so or complain to me that your birthday would be changed or say you're afraid of the number 13 and couldn't have that many months or some other excuse, but allow me to give Kudos to YOU for reading a 2 in the morning rant about nothing!
