 1. Hey man, first I'd like to ask you about your musical past. I know about Visa, but were you in some other bands? And how did you start with music, anyway? I started playing Arabic music at age 4 and the first band was a Greek band it is close with arabic music I played that style of Percussion for 4 years then started working in music studios in Detroit and fell in love with rock music and wanted to tour and play some original music so I made the move to L A in 2004 2. According to John, you're a great percussionist and keyboard player. Do you also play some other instruments?
Well along with Keyboards and Congas I play Drum set (rock, R&B,funk, salsa) Arabic Doumbeck, Riqq, and Deff those are the Middle Eastern rhythm instruments also the Egyptian Nay a flute I have studied for a few years now and playing a lot of piano lately 3. Music is your life, as I can judge from your profile and as you told us personally. But what about your other hobbies... I know about ice hockey, ladies, beer...:) Would you add some more?
My favorite thing to do in this world is walk near the ocean and just stare at the water other than that it's back to Music I keep it simple oh and of course some Ice Hockey I try to play as much as I can that is my favorite sport to play for sure. 4. Do you visit Red Wings' games often, or rather watch them on TV?
I go to the game when they play Los Angeles i wish I could be at all there games they're my favorite team ever. 5. Who's your favorite hockey player?
WAYNE GRETZKY. 6. And your favorite music? Bands, CD's, genres...
My favorite music off the top of my head I can say Um Kalthoum, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Farid el Atrache, Abdel Halim Hafez, Fairuz, The Beatles, The Zombies, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin,Billy Preston, Sam Cooke, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, SADE , Bauhaus, Depeche Mode,The Sisters Of Mercy, Metallica, Slayer,Duke Elington,Billy Holiday,Nat King Cole, Gene Krupa, Screamin Jay Hawkins , KRAFT WERK ,Daft Punk, HAwkWIND just to name a few 7. You mentioned your Syrian roots (I hope I remember that right), so do you feel that heritage is also a part of your personality or you feel like 100% American?
My heritage is a huge part of my personality arabic was my first language so I have always been surrounded by my culture my whole life in Detroit there are a lot of arabs there so I was always speaking the language playing in the bands and learning the music from arabic teachers reflects on me of course my mom who come from small type villages who taught me about my roots. But im also a California Hippie so I LOVE America and the beautiful California sunsets thats the highlight of my day. 8. Now how did you get into Scars and what did you have to do to be a part of the band?
I played three nights with System Of A Down on the Mars Volta run and I met Daron and Serj I didn't even know them I knew the crew and Shavo and John who invited me up cuz he saw me jam percussion at a show in L A so I played with them during a jam in the song WAR three nights straight Oakland, Sacramento, and Fresno. Shortly after that tour i got a call and our friend told me Daron wants to talk to me about playing percussion for his new band SCARS so we jammed together and it clicked right away so when he was bringing in songs and we worked on them in preproduction the keyboards were needed too so i played the parts he wanted and added some of my own textures and thats how we started out simple in small jam room at his house for months just jammin out the tunes it was great his taste in music matches what I like too so we worked hard for two years to finish what you see with the final product along with hard work from John, Franky, and Dom 9. How is touring and working with Daron? He's a huge personality for so many people... but I guess not many people had a chance to get to know him personally like you did.
Touring and working with Daron is a great experience he is very generous and a very caring person he's a brother to me and never boring there is great music being played and I'm being educated with the variety of music he listens to is so broad that there is something new to hear from Band to Band he listens to many different styles on another level so I keep my ear to the tunes and learn about many many different types and expressions in music that is very Healthy for a musician to Listen and absorb music is very important I think even more than technic Listening to music is just as important and different styles too learning to appreciate from all music you'll become better without even thinking about it. Thats what touring with D is about Music music music oh and more Music........ 10. From all the shows you played this year, which one was the best for you and for what reason?
For me it was in Tuscon Arizona with Metallica, there was a amazing sunset in the desert and a warm breeze on stage and then I see James Hetfield watching us with a big smile on his face that was a dream come true. Berlin was amazing all of Germany was great London Astoria all U K shows rock and the most memorable too was Stockholm my family lives there and I played for them it was amazing great show all around. 11. Did you like it here in Europe? (especially if it was your first time here)
Ohhhhh I love Europe so much I was in Sweden for two months when I was a kid so I had been there before But this time i can say I officially love touring Europe the Buildings and culture are so refreshing for me to see all these different people from country to country and just walking around and taking in all you surroundings it's real cool. 12. What are your most favorite Scars songs to play live and to hear on the album?
Babylon Insane Funny Enemy All of them 13. Can you tell us some funny or interesting stories from touring with Scars?
You know it's hard to pinpoint one there was laughing the whole tour we just joked around and watched funny shit on you tube with the boys and just laughed the best time. 14. So what are you gonna do next, do you already have some plans?
Im just taking it easy and recording music with some local artists playing Organs and Pianos along with Percussion and ready to tour at any time... 15. Finally, do you believe that Scars will be back?
I hope so ......

1. You're originally from Montreal, do you still live there?
D: Yes. I love this city very much, and I still live here.
2. You were a part of Pulse Ultra and Rise Electric (maybe some other bands), how do you feel about those projects now?
D: Pulse Ultra was very special to me. We had our dream come true in every way in that band. Our management was Velvet Hammer, and we were the third of only 3 bands they were working with at that time. Taproot and System were the other bands. That's how we met. We did Ozzfest in 2002 with them.
3. From what I could find it appears that The Chronicles Of Israfel was a huge project of yours. I really like that debut CD. It took you a lot of time and effort to release it, right? So satisfied after all?
D: That took 3 years to finish and release I put it out online only cause I knew it was so weird that no labels would touch it. I am constantly writing for the other chapters of the series, but it takes so much energy. It'll be a while before the next one comes out.
4. How did you get into Scars and why did you decided to join them instead of continuing with Israfel?
D: The opportunity came in a weird way. Chronicles had slowed down a little as I was looking for a new bass player. My manager called me one night asking me if I knew any bass players. I asked him who it was for, and when he said Daron and John, I immediately said I would drop everything to play with them. I never "dropped" Israfel. The project was winding down and I really felt strongly about Scars' music. So the decision was easy.
5. Every fan has Daron in his mind as a very unique person, but how is working with him and knowing him personally?
D: He is a very funny, kind hearted and generous person. Always listening to music, constantly. Every genre you can think of. He is a human music library full of knowledge. He introduced me to so much music. He is a true artist.
6. What are your favorite Scars tracks to play live and what on the album?
D: Live, I love coming out and doing serious. It's brutal and when the chorus kicks in the crowd is always louder than us. Amazing. I love all the other songs too, but World Long Gone's main riff always gets me right in the gut.
7. Do you still have that beard or not an outlaw anymore?:)
D: I decided to take a little break from the beard. I love it, but it was time for a little change.
8. Now the same question that I've already asked Franky - Was it your first time here in Europe? If yes, how did you like it?
D: No, I was out in Europe with Pulse Ultra. We revisited a couple of the clubs we played back in 2003. I love Europe.
9. What was the funniest or most interesting thing you experienced with Scars?
D: Too many stories to name. John is probably one of the funniest people I've ever met. He laughs so much, and you would never know cause of his poker face.
10. What about the internet, did you look for some news, people's reactions or other stuff like that related to Scars?
D: No. Honestly, I don't read shit.
11. Finally, what comes next for you? (after this unexpected situation around Scars)
D: I will always be here ready to get back on tour with Scars. I have no clue what is going on right now. Very confusing. All I know is that I'm playing guitar again.
Thanks a lot for your time man, I appreciate that!
D: Thank YOU!

1. I saw your "Something Crazy" video. How do you feel about those days after you released "Poor Man's Son"?
FXP:I was in my early twenty's when I made that album for Atlantic. It was a reflection of my life up to that point. I was acting as Artist and Producer and the Label was expecting me to deliver a great record. Looking back that was a lot pressure for a kid, but God it was fun...
2. I found that you played with these bands - Malfunction, Highway Saints, Left Standing, Monte & The All-Stars, Two Man Riot. Is that all correct and do you want to add some more?
FXP:Malfunction was a hard core band I sang for in Orange County when I was 18, The Highway Saints were my backing band when i was on Atlantic records, Left Standing was a band I produced (The Life In Stereo Album) not the other crap, Monte and The All-Stars was a cover band I played in right before Scars, and Two Man Riot was a band I started with one of my oldest and best friends. I play drums and sing while he plays a baritone guitar through an A/B switch into a guitar and bass rig.
3. When I did a research in purpose of summarizing your biography, I found very interesting these three things - your trip through the States with your 'trusty truck', meeting legendary Cuban musician Lazaro Valdes and smuggling your grandma from Cuba and back. I have to say that doing your biography is a very enjoyable thing...
FXP:I've had a very interesting life. A lot of ups and downs, but I wouldn't change a thing.
4. A lot of people wondered about image of the band. I mean black clothes and of course... the mighty beards! So what about that, was it all planned?
FXP: We started growing the beards during the recording of the album. After a while we realized we were starting to look like outlaws so we just kept them. As for the black clothing... BLACK RULES!!!
5. Names of you, Dominic and Danny were oficially mentioned almost three months after the first gig at Whisky A-Go-Go. Naturally fans recognized you earlier, but still it was a mystery. Can you tell us something about it?
Obviously John and Daron were the most recognizable, and when you're building a brand you want to use whats familiar to the people. Also there were a lot of questions being asked by the press regarding S.O.A.D that Danny, Dom , nor I were qualified to answer. I actually liked the mystery surrounding the band and I felt that in due time we would be introduced to the fans. I believe you have to earn your stripes. I try to do just that every time I step on a stage...
6. Now the first gig... how was it for you man?
FXP:it was extremely surreal. At one point I remember panning across the stage and over the sold out crowd and thinking "how the fuck did I get here?" Amazing...
7. From all the shows you played this year, which one was the best for you and why?
FXP: That's tough, but if I have to pick just one I guess it would be opening for Metallica at The Wiltern in L A. It was perfect... The Headliner, the crowd, the band, the venue, the set list, my rig, the sound, the energy, perfect... What a night.
8. Was it your first time here in Europe? If yes, how did you like it? Places, people, food, girls...
FXP:Yes to all of the above. :)
9. Did you guys have a lot of rehearsals together this year?
Yes
10. And finally, any funny or interesting stories from touring with Scars?
FXP:There is a vlog where John is cracking up that everyone keeps asking about so I'll clear it up. When on tour there is a lot of down time and you have to find things to keep you entertained. The bands favorite pass time is finding stupid shit on Youtube. That particular time we were watching a Video of some fat lady eating shit on a motorcycle over and over again. Some of us (john) thought it was funnier then others. LOL...

Damn I like these lyrics... I've got something to say I've acquired a taste for watching you in pain It's pretty hard to admit It makes me feel like shit But I mean it And I know that I'm wrong The weaker you get, the more I feel strong So I want you to leave Wipe you face on your sleave And beat it This doesn't end with you I walk around and I think if people only knew That I wish they were cursed That I wish them the worst I really wish 'em the worst But I'm doing my best And I hope you forgive me now that I've confessed Because I'm trying to resist My heart becoming a fist Forever Because you can't, you can't You can't stop a bullet I'm giving you my trigger But you never pull it You've got something to say You've acquired a taste for watching me in pain It's pretty hard to admit It makes you feel like shit But you mean it What the hell can we do? I'm a different face of the man you knew I'm a hole you'll fill For the rest of your life Because you can't, you can't You can't stop a bullet I'm giving you my trigger But you never pull it

It's like a dream came true, total smasher, Rob Zombie has done a remake of the old Halloween, definitely one of the best horror movies ever..... in my opinion Halloween H20, which is already ten years old (time's running fast), was something like a perfect ending of the whole series. Actually this movie brought me to my lovely horror genre, when I was maybe 11 years old. After seeing this I felt in love immediately. Michael Myers, a fucking psychopath, calm killing machine, to me the only movie character which makes me horrified. SO, to make it short, I'm H20's totally devoted fan, and that's why I was so pissed when they made another Halloween - Resurrection. Stupid, useless, money-earning sequel. How the fuck can Michael live when she cut his fuckin head off??? And in the end, he wakes up with half of his head burned off - that's Jason Voorhees' attribute!! Not Michael Myers', the most scary thing about him is that coolness, that reality which flows around those movies. It's so scary just because of that. And the deadly mask of course......
NOW IT'S TIME TO MAKE MIKE 100% SERIOUS AGAIN, and Rob Zombie's the best director we could wish. He decided not just to make a remake of the original, but also add the whole new line into it, so we can't expect another dumb remake like Texas Chainsaw Massacre or whatever.... this is gonna be hell.
So, we'll see.... August 31.

This is my old review for Wednesday's first recors - Transylvania 90210, which had been written for ipunk.cz.Wednesday 13 - Transylvania 90210 (Songs Of Death, Dying, And The Dead)13.08.05, 21:41 "Nasledujici material je audio nahravka. Obsahuje pisne o smrti, umirani a mrtvych. Pro zahnani mdlob mejte na pameti, ze se stale jedna pouze o nahravku."
Takto zni varovani v uvodu desky "Transylvania 90210 (Songs Of Death, Dying, And The Dead)", prvniho alba kapely Wednesday 13.
Jiz samotny nazev idealne definuje celou nahravku. Po jiz zminenem intru prijde na radu pisen "Look What The Bats Dragged In", ktera vas behem pul minuty definitivne a agresivne vtahne do alba. Pote nasleduje dalsi "optimisticka" pisen s vystiznym titulem "God Is A Lie" ("Nemam duvod proc zit, ale mam jich sto proc zemrit... Kazdy den se divam na sebe a premyslim, proc mam napsany soundtrack ke konci sveho zivota. A jak ted splham na zebrik, jsem si jisty ze spadnu. Buh musi byt hluchy, protoze me nikdy nevyslysel."), a po ni dalsi krasne hororova skladba "Haunt Me" ("Chci te slyset kricet jako kdyz nam bylo trinact... Stras me jako kdysi, nejvic te miluju kdyz me desis k smrti."). Pak je zde jakysi odpocinkovy track, "Transylvania 90210" - skladba parodujici soucasny boom televiznich show. A nasleduje dalsi pisen s desivym efektem, ale i zbytecne natahovaným zaverem - "I Want You... Dead", po ni "Buried By Christmas" ("Jsem si jist ze nasili je mym zlozvykem, tak si zkontroluj svuj seznam Santo, a zkontroluj ho radsi dvakrat. Jsem mrtvej zkurvysyn, dobra."), dale "Elect Death For President" ("Moje levice je pecena a pravice smazena, volte pro me a zlegalizuju cokoli."), nalehava "Rot For Me" ("Shnij pro mne, zlato, shnij pro mne."), smrtelne dojemna "The Ghost of Vincent Price", no a na uplny konec dokonale sedi pomala a klavesami podbarvena "A Bullet Named Christ".
Vse totiz pusobi skocnym a odlehcenym dojmem, a tuto kapelu snad ani nemuzete brat vazne.

Holidays, thanks whoever calls himself God, I won't have any serious duties, for about next three months, so after being stressed for last ten months I can finally do only what I really care about (which means mainly my love -and she helped me A LOT-, books and movies). Fuck the final exam, fuck the entrance tests, fuck the school, fuck waking up early and being tired until midnight every day, fuck that stereotype. So I'm almost free as a bird, almost, the only thing that really worries me is on such a personal level that I won't tell you. I have one advice, one word for you, HATE, because hate can be very positive, it can make you fight every problem, it's one of the strongest feelings. And I have one tip, which is a band called Queens Of The Stone Age, because those guys kick ass in the way noone else does. They've just released a great new CD named Era Vulgaris, but if I should recommend you their best, it would be Songs For The Deaf five years ago. I know them since 2002, but I started listening them a lot only this year. And movies? Lately I've seen one great movie, The Painted Veil with Edward Norton.
So I'm ready for summer, even it's sunny and I hate it, after that I'll move to Prague, to the new school and to live with my grandmother. Yep, in case I'll survive this summer.
And finally one fresh supercool rock tune, keep yourself alive!
