The Nikita Photoshoot Contest is BACK but with a new tang and twist! It’s one of the most popular contests held, with girls the world over sending in their photos for a chance to be in the next location photoshoot for Nikita’s coveted streetwear collection.
This year Nikita offer another rare opportunity to two girls (Europe and USA) who want to join them in the photoshoot contest for the FW10/11 collection. The location of the shoot will be in the unique and multicultural city of New Orleans! What’s new is that Nikita are also offering an amazing opportunity to one girl with an interest in photography to get involved and shoot behind the scenes. The winner will be given cameras to snap away to their heart’s content, capturing aspects of the trip which are rarely seen. Their images will be featured and published in the most sought-after Nikita look book.

Firstly we want to say a big thanks to all the girls who sent in their footage, you girls rock!!!! Right up until deadline day on 30th March, we were receiving a frenzy of entries. With high standards and a wide variety of clips, girls of all different levels and styles took part. Heida Birgisdottir and our team at Nikita checked out all the clips and confessed to getting pretty excited about going snowboarding after watching them. One of the things that really stood was the fact there were so many girls out there doing their own unique thing and having fun whilst doing it – big up you all! Getting to the crunch, here’s the results. There’s more winners than originally intended but well deserved and worthy of a watch! Following a heap of entries from girls in the most recent Nikita Photoshoot Contest we have hand-picked two girls to fly to Miami with the Nikita crew and forever be a part of the Spring Summer 2010 Nikita streetwear look book.
Congratulations and a big thanks should go to all the girls that participated (we’re still receiving entries!), but the winners have been chosen and they are Ana Pereira from Portugal and Lucie Klecková from the Czech Republic.
Ana lives in Braga, Portugal and loves to live life to the max. She travels a lot which she says is like an addiction, getting to know different places and cultures. In winter she heads to Andorra to snowboard and meantime keeps the night time alive by partying! During summer she takes full advantage of the local surf and hangs out at the beach with her friends.
Lucie, 19 years of age sent her entry in one day before the deadline on 14 April. Like Ana, she sent in some great photos, including looks that are really natural showing her bright blue eyes, a fun surf picture to and a killer shot of her in a bikini.
Both girls have been contacted, are super excited about winning and can’t wait to join the photoshoot. So after being whis off on their trip to Miami at the beginning of May for some hard days shooting and of course plenty of fun, there’ll be some sweet pictures to show for it. We’ll find out how they get on at the shoot soon…….. ked
Cheers
The Nikita Crew

Sideway Sistas: The Story Of Girls Who Ride Not only will Nikita be celebrating a special 10 year anniversary in 2010, we will also be producing and publishing a 200 page coffee table book made largely from material sent in by Nikita girls, from all over the world.
The project begins now and it begins here! The book will celebrate and portray the lifestyle of the Nikita girl; in photos, words, poems, graphics and art, or in any which way possible. The layout of the book will be in a scrapbook style, quite raw and graphic based, edited by an Icelandic girl. She has been a lifetime Nikita customer, snowboarder, skater, graphic designer and has already produced her own book, Icepick, about the Icelandic street art scene, that Nikita helped publish nearly two years ago. Her name is Thordis Claessen. Along with stories, people and pictures from the depths of Nikita’s archives, Nikita would like to dedicate the rest of the content to all girls who ride. Grab the opportunity to tell your own story, what you love, what you do and what Nikita means to you. Any form of entry is acceptable – this will be a coffee table book to truly represent the Nikita girl, a book about her life and something hopefully all will want to be a part of. The story of how Nikita came about and the brains behind it, Heida Birgisdottir, the founder and head designer of the company will also be included. “Nikita has a huge fan base and really values the comments, support and input we have received from girls spanning the globe who love what we do. This will be a chance for us to say thanks and celebrate the last 10 amazing years with them too.” - Heida
All Nikita related photos, stories, art, designs, poems, drawings, recipes or anything you have and think might be good for the book, please either e-mail to sidewaysistas@nikitaclothing.com or send material to:
Sideway Sistas Project Nikita HQ Skipholt 25 105 Reykjavik Iceland
N.B. Please make sure to include full name, address, telephone, e-mail and any other info you feel relevant. We accept all types of files and sizes but for maximum print quality, it’s best if the pictures sent in are at least 2000 x 3000 pixels (maximum 5MB). If in doubt, give us a shout! If there’s anything you need returning please include a SAE and details of what you want back. The opportunity to get your own stories and experiences in will last for a limited time, so the sooner you get on it, the better! The closing date for all entries is the 30th April 2009.
Greetings from Iceland
The Nikita Crew
