Our tour is going really well. We had a great show in Chicago last night. A member of the band before us had some really nice things to say this morning. Our favorite is: "Sarah, the drummer, acts like the conductor - even if no one is watching her (except the audience)." The full post is here:

We'll post some photos and self-indulgent stories once we get back to Austin.
Love, BVM

Those Rice kids are smarter than we thought. For the week of June 1, Soundhorn is number 15 on the KTRU top 35. That puts us ahead of Sun Ra and Ornette Coleman. (I'm sure we'll win our Pulitzer any year now.)
In other news, a new live version of "Tjamls;" has been posted to our website. Scroll down to "Live Recordings."
You'll notice we've added a few more dates to the tour schedule. Tell your Midwest friends to get ready!

Thanks to all of you who came out to see us at Republic of Texas Tattoo last night. It's a really cool shop down there, and Aaron's brother even got a tattoo while we played. We'll post a photo as soon as we get one.

Clearly, we are not the best bloggers. Here is a little bit of news from the past few months.
We organized a fantastic Brian Eno hoot night at Carousel Lounge back in November. Our friend Brandon Young sang on our three songs: "Back in Judy's Jungle," King's Lead Hat," and "Third Uncle." Benko, Cue, My Education, Muchos Backflips, and ST37 joined us in entertaining a rather large crowd for the modest Carousel.
In December, we met Colour Revolt and Group Hug at Emo's. They were both on tour and really pumped it out for a decent Tuesday turnout. We had great fun closing out the night.
We play Emo's Lounge on Sunday Jan 6th. It's free!
And last of all, someone in college radio likes us. Thanks Owen at KVRX.

The CD is done! Yes, the raucous glory of "Soundhorn" has been unleashed. Please join us at our CD release show on March 7 at Emo's Lounge with Golden Arm Trio and the Invincible Czars. It'll be like a SXSW warm-up show. The CD is also available for purchase at our website: www.beevsmoth.com.

The new record, Soundhorn, is nearly complete! We hope to have it ready for release in early 2007. Two advance tracks have just been added to the myspace page: Doom Equity and Tjamls; (yes that's how it's spelled). We want to thank all the guests who played on the album -- Jerome Smith (trombone, tuba, flute), Holland Hopson (soprano sax, electronics), Mariah McPhail (bari sax), and Brent Fariss (upright bass). The album includes our drummer Sarah playing vibes and xylophone, a ten-piece arrangement of "My Nephew Raymond," and other wonderful surprises.
