Submissions are now open for showcase slots at the 2009 Indiegrrl Women in the Arts Conference in Nashville, TN on August 20 to 23 at Hotel Preston.  40 Showcase artists will be selected.  DEADLINE: Submission entry must be postmarked by April 1, 2009.  Submission fee is $15.  You must be a current paid member of the Indiegrrl Women in the Arts organization to take part in the conference showcases or any other showcase opportunities with our organization.  Yearly membership is $30 and must be renewed every year between December 1 and January 15.  Join now or renew membership and be in good standing until the end of 2009.

Final selections of showcase slots will be notified by April 18, 2009.  If selected we will email you a 2009 Showcase Artist Conference Registration Form that you must have filled out and sent back in with your discounted conference pass rate of $65 postmarked by April 30, 2009 or an alternate will be selected.  Conference pass allows you into all workshops and panel discussions, the exhibit hall trade show and the showcase stage area.  No delayed payments accepted.  Regular conference rate is $125.  Each member of your band and your management staff or crew can attend the conference and take part in all of the valuable networking and workshop/panel classes at the discounted artist rate of $65 and their names must be listed on the registration form and accompanied with all payments for each name sent it.

This speedy process is necessary so that it gives us time to better promote the showcases and the showcasing artists to media outlets, A&R representatives, and in our general press release campaign.  Another reason for the speedy process is to give us time to produce a compilation CD of some of our selected artists for promotional purposes that will get distributed to media outlets and A&R representatives as an effort to better promote the conference showcases and to pull in industry professionals to see the performances.  We will also have on hand some of these CDs as special giveaway items to the general public attending the exhibit hall trade show and the showcases.

At the 2008 conference many attendees voiced concerns about being able to have a submission process that let them send in their own press kits, demos, bios and have an online payment option as well as a mail in payment option that was separate from Sonicbids because not everyone wanted to join Sonicbids.  We have weighed in on all of your opinions and will not be using Sonicbids as part of our submission process for our 2009 conference.  So we have simplified what we need from you in submitting.  The mail in showcase submission requirement for the 2009 conference is:

  1. Showcase submission form.
  2. Showcase submission fee of $15 in the form of a US Check or Money Order.
  3. Demo CD of at least 3 songs.
  4. Bio Sheet
  5. A high resolution photo with a minimum of 300dpi on a disc that we can use for press purposes or either give us a link to a downloadable high resolution photo minimum 300dpi. (Most newspaper and magazine publications we submit press releases to have to have 300dpi or higher photos or they will not print them.)
  6. Link to your website in case we want further review on final selection decisions and to put on our website conference page if you are selected.
  7. Indiegrrl Membership Form and Membership Fee of $30 if you have never been a paid member of the Indiegrrl Women in the Arts organization or your membership is not currently up to date.

You can download the 2009 Indiegrrl Women in the Arts Showcase Submission Form from the Indiegrrl website on our special conference page.  You can download the Indiegrrl Membership Form from the Indiegrrl website on the join page.

Other forms available to download are the Conference Fee Page that includes vendor and program ad rates and more.  Vendor Registration Form for those that would like to purchase a booth space in the Exhibit Hall Trade Show. 2009 Conference Registration Form for those that want to attend the conference.  The conference is open to anyone both females and males to attend but only members of Indiegrrl Women in the Arts will be showcases.  Program Ad Specifications Sheet for those interested in purchasing an ad in the conference program that will be handed out to all conference attendees and the general public that purchase tickets to the exhibit hall and showcases. Conference Volunteer Registration Form for those that want to volunteer some hours to work at the conference in exchange for a free conference pass and the option to purchase a banquet ticket for half price.  We will need 12 volunteers and they will be chosen on a first come basis.   Volunteers will be required to work Thursday, Friday, and Saturday a minimum of 4 hours per day.  A volunteer schedule will be sent to everyone before the conference so you will know where and what times you will be working.  Shared volunteer duties will include checking in conference attendees and vendors on Thursday between the hours of 1:00pm and 6:00pm, working the entrance doors at the Exhibit Hall on Friday and Saturday between the hours of 10:00am and 6:00pm, and working the doors at the showcase stage from 11:00am to Midnight.  Volunteers can submit to showcase but it does not mean you will automatically get chosen for a showcase slot.

Not since the 2005 Rockrgrl Conference has there been a conference dedicated to showcasing women.  Indiegrrl Women in the Arts is producing their first conference on August 21 to 24 in Spencer, VA that will be showcasing women in music, comedy, spoken word, and more.  The deadline to submit your application to be considered for a showcase slot is April 30, 2008.  There are two ways you can submit.

1. Mail in submission forms can be found at this link. http://www.indiegrrl.com/2008_conference_packet_rev.pdf

2. Submissions online are taken through sonicbids at this link

http://www.sonicbids.com/IndiegrrlConference

Plan on attending and taking part in valuable workshops and panel discussions to enhance your entrepreneurial skills and to network with hundreds of other artists, industry professionals, A&R representatives and more.  For more detailed information visit http://www.indiegrrl.com/2008conference.html or http://www.myspace.com/indiegrrlconference

Part of the proceeds for the conference will go to the Indie Music For Life cancer research fundraising efforts. http://www.indiemusicforlife.org  HotSpot Radio will be doing live broadcasts of the showcases and interviews with the artists on the new Indiegrrl Radio Channel.

Indie Music For Life would like to thank our sponsor Sonicbids for
taking submissions for our 2008 compilation projects. We would also
like to thank all of the artists that submitted songs for us to
review. It was a tough decision to narrow down all of the selections
to the final songs that appear on our music projects. We would also
like to thank our sponsor Spotted Kiva Productions for producing,
designing, and duplicating the compilation CD projects. We are still
in the process of finalizing our first Comedy CD project and hope to
have it up for sale very soon.

The 2008 Indie Music For Life music compilation CD project is
complete and up on the http://www.indiemusicforlife.org retail store
available for purchase. It is a double disc set called Indie Nation
Fights Cancer that features 37 artists/songs from around the world
and retails for $12. You can hear music clips of some of the
featured artists.

The 2008 Indie Music For Life Children’s Music & Laughter compilation
CD is complete and up on the http://www.indiemusicforlife.org retail
store available for purchase. It features 22 artists/songs and
retails for $10. You can hear clips of some of the featured
artists. This is the first children’s music themed CD project that
Indie Music For Life has produced and we are really excited about
it. We are on a fund raising campaign to raise money to put together
a FREE fun and educational packet that will get distributed to
pediatric cancer patients. We plan on including the children’s music
compilation CD project, the Hopeful Princess Read Along CD project,
educational material on the benefits of music therapy to cancer
patients directing them to The American Music Therapist Association,
and some other fun items like flutes and kazoos to exercise their
lungs and stickers and more.

Please support our efforts and projects by purchasing our
compilations so that we may continue in the fight against cancer by
making a yearly contribution to cancer research and a continued
effort on our educational awareness program on the benefits of music
and laughter as therapy to cancer patients. Help us put some SMILES
on the faces of children that are going through a tremendous fight to
overcome a disease that is a beast. You can also make private
donations that are tax deductible on our donate page.

Please help us spread the word to everyone that you know about our

Please visit the www.indiemusicforlife.org website and read about the new children's projects that are being produced.  We are proud sponsors of this project.

Your tax deductible contributions will help us reach as many children with cancer as possible. Packages of materials are being put together to distribute to pediatric cancer patients. In this package we will include the new Hopeful Princess CD, a story about a princess and brave knight who fight the cancer dragon, and also the 2008 Children's Music compilation CD featuring artists from around the world. The packages will also include some other fun items like flutes or harmonicas, stickers, coloring books, crayons, etc and educational material on the benefits of music and laughter therapy for cancer patients.

These two CDs will also be for sale in our retail shop.  The Hopeful Princess CD is already available.  This will make an excellent holiday gift for your child that will help them understand about cancer and what some children go through with diseases and what we can all overcome.

Musical score is by Federico Fasce of Italy, who was one of the artists featured on our 2008 Rock/Acoustic CD, and the story is written and narrated by Michele Ryan, our Director of Laughs For Life. We had a real life inspiration for this story in Sophia Langford a 3 year old girl that we all know and love that is fighting brain cancer.  The CD also features a short video which can be seen if you plug it into your computer and features Fede playing one of the songs in the story with a visual effect of THREE Fedes performing various instruments all at once.  It is a fun video to watch.

Thank You,
Vicki Blankenship
