so i'm putting some new demos up on the site here - they are not all up yet, but they'd be 'youTalk', 'sincere', and 'aint crying', , it's been a long time since i've put up any new songs.  they are still works in progress but wutever, i'd like to keep anyone who's interested posted on the new stuff.  feel free to send me feedback, (a.k.a. less acoustic guitar, you need keyboards, get a new singer, that song sucks, or positive stuff too ;p).  also, unless i change my mind, i'm making them available for free download, becuz 1. these are just demos, and 2. i understand the need to listen to anything and everything on an iPod. 

here's the thing with really helping someone

you can have all the right things to say,
like a "meant for greatness" compilation
(which is my own version of every self-help book
combined with conclusions).  

but sometimes it's not hearing or reading the right things
that's gonna help.  

i don't know what it is for sure that's needed,
but i just wanted to say in humility that it's not hearing the right things
to do, cuz i've tried to help hurting friends by trying to tell them
what to do to fix it.  i had good intentions, but ineffective actions.   

sometimes you need to know that, regarding the past...
"it's not your fault" (in a matt damon/robin williams "Good_Will_Hunting"
moment), i thought that scene was unrealistic until i went thru it
myself and realized how much i had needed to hear that it
was not my fault, the hurtful things that had happenned to me.
"it's not your fault, it's just your responsibility" can be the reality sometimes,
but sometimes even that is too much.  you just need to hear that it's not ur
fault.    

sometimes you need to fall in love,
to meet someone that you respect AND are attracted to and
feel that they are attracted to you and that you both have something
great to offer one another and that you are both good people who
long to make another person happy.  

sometimes you just need to be heard and understood.  
this is the psychologists' standpoint, not to be confused with a psychiatrist.
sometimes you just need drugs to alter your brain chemistry...
this is the psychiatrists' standpoint.  i've seen many adults with autism and
mental retardation that had no intervention nearly as helpful as medications.
i say this also in humility becuz i wanted to believe that other methods
could fix it.  i haven't completely closed the book on so called
"alternative" cures;
spiritual (prayer, etc...), cognitive-behavioral therapy
(thinking positive on a habitual basis), vitamins/herbs, proper rest, exercise,
yoga, nutrician, etc...

sometimes you need to be part of a team, or have a purpose/mission/
value in life. 
a way that you are helping other people. 
serving others. 
sometimes you need to be served and helped. 

sometimes you need to feel like shit so that when you get good things,
you feel like you deserve the good things when they come along.
i guess what i may be what i'm trying to say here, in order to remind myself, or anyone else interested in helping other people (or yourself) thru difficult times,
that it takes a holistic approach, there's not 1 thing that works all the time
and there's not 1 thing that never works, it's all got it's time, place, and "patient".

hola to those of you who heard of us through JohnRomano's FreeSongOfTheWeek and those who didn't.  new McCools songs are in the works, to hear our most recent recording, which was basically a recorded rehearsal, check us out on PureVolume.  All of the Songs from PlanA, the debut album are downloadable on iTunes and SnoCap (right on the myspace site) and you can purchase the CD from CD-baby. 

please if you can, tell JohnRomano thanks for putting us on his site!  i actually play guitar for his band also and we did a radio interview in London in March'07 after flying in a plane for 11 hours and then having a few pints at a local pub; the tune "Sail; live at BBC" it is currently posted on his myspace page, it's a groovy little number...George Nakonechny (mccools, grandville, petehopkins) is playing bass and our good buddy ClarkBecker on the snare drum and of course, John Romano on vocals and rythm gtr. 

George and Todd are touring with Myron in the UK next week!  also appearing on BBC radio with John Romano and playing a show with him AND Myron at Hope and Anchor in London.  very coincidental that we're all going to be there at the same time!  should be a blast...if you know anyone in the UK, please, send em to our shows...tell them to check out the calendar on Myron and John Romano 's myspaces, or check mine, but, i don't have all the dates up yet, as of this very minute.   

    for those of you who read the last blog (re:pete hopkins), pete is not pete "the heat" vasquez who plays percussion in our band.  also, we have 2 gigs this week, and will continue our residency thru the end o' february.  then some sweet flippin' shows in march...dates and locations TBA, so stay tuned:)

alright, so we added "crazy lee" to our myspace.  it was a song we wrote about one of our uber fans, we wrote 2 more fan songs and posted another new tune that we've been playing live, it's all from this demo we did the other day, no fx or trickery, just live 11 songs recorded in 4 hours.  enjoy, give us comments and such so that we know what to do differently when we really record it :)
