So a lot of people have been asking us what is up with the Syrup Girls and where we have been and why we haven't been playing together every week. Well, we have been busy. Duh. What, you expected something else??
Syrup Girls are working on a new mix CD and should be starting a new monthly residency soon (details coming up). They are also sponsored by Gsus Industries clothing: check them out at www.g-sus.com.
Siren has been M.I.A. because she has been busy opening her new bar, Home Sweet Home. The place has been open five months and shit is cracking off. HSH was recently nominated by Paper Magazine as one of the best new bars in New York, and featured in big articles in the New York Times and the Village Voice. So much for keeping things quiet! The Klaxons and Silversun Pickups hang out there and there are DJ nights all the time (starring the likes of Lauren Flax, Project Matt, Dara, Annalyze, Drop The Lime, and Star Eyes). If you want to go stalk her or line her pockets with fat tips, Home Sweet Home is at 131 Chrystie St. between Broome and Delancey in Manhattan or just lurk on the internet at www.homesweethomenyc.com. Star Eyes has been spending a lot of time at her "day job" as the editor of XLR8R Magazine. She is hosting a new internet TV program (the first episode of XLR8R TV will be up in March at revision3.com); she will also have a new monthly DJ mix available as a podcast download starting in February at www.xlr8r.com. More on that soon. Star Eyes has also been DJing a mega-ton with her boys from the Trouble & Bass and Dirty Down crews, including Drop The Lime, The Captain & Shark, Mathhead, and Zach Shadetek. If you want to see some pictures of her and some other crazy rave dogs, check out troubleandbass.blogspot.com and dirtydown.blogspot.com or come to the parties (see our front page for details). Star Eyes recently got sponsored by Rimmel Cosmetics for their new Rimmel U line (more info soon); she's working on a remix (with Mathhead) for Montreal's Lesbians on Ecstasy and she did the vocals for Mathhead's "Emergency," forthcoming on the mighty Kitsuné.
Damn this turned out to be long but we thought you should know.
