Cyber Safety Tips Your screen name should not give out any information about you. Choose it carefully. Never give out personal information such as your name, your friend's names, your home address, school or school mascot etc. Keep online friendships online and many safety experts recommend only chat online with people you know. Never meet in person anyone you have met online. Cyberbullying is a new phenomenon. If you feel bullyed online tell someone you trust. NBC Dateline Internet Safety Tips for Parents of Teens All bets are off. If teens have earned your trust, give it to them. If not, unplug the computer and take away their cell phones and interactive gaming devices. If you havent taught them what they need to know by now, were all in trouble. Focus on teaching them to be responsible cybercitizens and to use the filter between their ears. Emphasize again the risks of sharing personal information and meeting strangers offline. Make sure they Google themselves often and report what they find. Teach them to use anti-virus software, to not believe everything they read online and to respect others. Check for adware or spyware often, use a firewall and teach them to come to you if anything goes wrong online. Ask them to help keep their younger brothers and sisters safe online. Remind them that youre still around if they need your help. These are just a few tips to stay safe while communicating online. For more information visit Kids Health.

The May 8, 2006 edition of Newsweek magazine is dedicated to education in the United States. The main article 'What Makes A High School Great?' is worth reading. The article addresses the following: Create Good Citizens, Celebrate Liberal Arts, Prepare For Work, Help Boys and Girls Succeed - Separately, Emphasize Science and Technology, Reach Out to Everyone. Everyone wants to be a part of a winning team. Teachers want to feel good about their workplace. Students want to appreciate their high school experience. Alumni want to take pride in their alma mater. Taxpayers want to believe their tax dollars are being spent wisely. Mediocrity is not acceptable. We need to define these expectations then soar above them. Define the purpose of the school then keep that perspective. Student growth (mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally) in the form of public education is the only reason MPHS exists. Teachers do the primary job. Administrators are to help the teachers do their jobs better by providing resources and support. The support staff consists of secretaries, interventionists, guidance counselors, custodians, food workers, bus drivers, etc. MPHS is a team effort.
