In a year that has seen them rise to huge success, it is not surprising that the track that has made them a global phenomenon has landed Bodyrox an Ivor Novello nomination. 'Yeah Yeah' was originally composed by the duo five years ago & started gaining accolades the moment it was first heard, with Zane Lowe labelling it "an anthem in the making". Indeed, an anthem it became, achieving chart success in countries the world over, reaching No. 2 in the UK chart & now receiving recognition by the awards that honour British songwriters & composers.
'Yeah Yeah' has landed Jon Pearn & Nick Bridges, AKA Bodyrox (and writers Luciana & Nick Clow) a nomination in the 'Best Contemporary Song' category. Up against Amy Winehouse's 'Rehab' & Hot Chip's 'Over & Over', the pair feel a tad overwhelmed. "These awards are all about songwriters & composers. Artists whose main living is in dance music are so rarely nominated. We feel completely overawed to be up for this award; to be recognised for our hard work in producing 'Yeah Yeah'. It's really flattering", Jon Pearn.
The track that had a whole nation hooked was originally intended for the underground scene. However, in writing the music; & in scouring the world to recruit Luciana & locate the right remixers, Bodyrox quickly realised that they could not deny the rest of the world 'Yeah Yeah'. "Crossing an underground track over is not easy. Finding the right writers and singer was essential to the commercial success of the record and we are delighted we have been recognised for our role in making the track such a success", Nick Bridges. This Ivor Novello nomination pays homage to the fact that Jon Pearn & Nick Bridges are not just the faces of the success, but also the driving force and catalyst behind it.
