Cast of Players

        Maximus Parthas            Tribal Raine

  Nyne Elementz                 Dain Brammage

The gig is up, finito, the Last Walk. You could see the energy, four Prysmatic   Poets, and a few special local-guests...Didthadamnthing! We did two sets, everyone   read one in the first round, all pieces about about poetry in one way or another.  The Three Bean Net Cafe  is a smaller joint, comfortable and committed to the cause. They made us feel very welcome, and didn't even flinch when I dropped the F-bomb. They did pretty well for them selves at the counter too.

It was set up like a Whispered Words set, flowed from beginning to end. John did a peice about beer, using "beers" snakedly-stuck-together, it  was great! 1'Der Come on stage with power, showin' how he got to the place that he got. And Vondella, she was hand-picked by Tribal, so when she hollered out Can I Write? We were all on the edge of our chairs.

               Vondella                                     1'der                                  John Starino

Set List - 1
Special Guest John "Sildag" Starino
Find a Poet - Nyne Elementz
Freestyle - Maximus Parthas
A Simple Embrace, Slam! - Dain Brammage
The Respect of a Poet - Tribal Raine

Set List -2
Special Guests John "Sildag" Starino, 1'der, Vondella
Drama Queen, Paper Terrorist - Nyne Elementz
What Happened to Hip Hip, Youth, I Used to Know You - Maximus Parthas
Battle Cry of the Obeses Warrior, Corporate Spin - Dain Brammage

About the features: Nyne's opening brought us all in just right and he hit us hard each and every time he performed. Max kept it all going smoothly, and kept it hoppin' at the same time. The pieces he did ripped, Maximus Impact, I tell you! I did the best that I could, and had a whole-lot of Fun. All Though Tribal only did one in the end, or the end of the beginning, she brought us out of the first set with fire! It was one-hell-of-a-show, it was a-showcase-and-a-half, damn-it, we didthadamnthing!

Then back to Max and Tribals', for the after glow cypher. We had a truly magical cypher, huddled in room of close quarters, just passing the poetry around. Playing off the peice that was passed you, or maybe taking it down a new road. Nyne's wife Sandra spread her wings and did a couple too. This went on for hours, none of us wanted it to end. But it had to, me and Max ended up staying up until six a.m.

Still on vaction now, so...bye

I am going on tour!  Ok, so I am making more of it than I should, it is only one show, but it is in Lexington SC!  My brotha-from-anotha-motha, Maximus Parthas, is hosting a new event down their called the Prysmatic Dreams Spoken Word Showcase.  Not an open mic, a showcase of talented writer/performers and he ask me to come down and help him kick off the first show.

Also on the bill is Nyne Elementz, Tribal Raine and Breeze.  So the people down there are in for one hell of a show!

I've been working with Max for a year or two longer than I have been working with Thom at Albany Poets.  Together with Max and other unnamed players (for brevity) we have created ground breaking opportunities for poet/spoken word artists.  PD (Prysmatic Dreams) has served as a home base for the launching of the Net Slam, The New Word Order, The Session, and most importantly, Whispered Words Poetry Mixed Tapes.

At PD we have tried to stay true to the philosophy that as you grab a hand ahead of you, and pull yourself up to the next level of expertise or opportunity in the Spoken Word World, you reach back with the other and pull someone up from the place you are stepping up from.  We seem to have been doing a good job with that.  The Real Ms Jones, soon-to-be-former administrator for PD, is training Hanna and Wise to take that job over, freeing her to become a producer and MP3J for Whispered Words.  What can I say, that's how we roll at PD.

We have been taking our time and trying our best to do it right. That way when we launch something new, it is revolutionary.  A little secret here, we are trying to get things set up to video web cast this show, but details are not available yet. Though the venue, the Three Bean Net Café says they have the capability, and Max has the cameras.  So with a little luck, some research, and hard word, the Prysmatic Dreams Spoken Word Showcase may be video web cast live!  See what I mean…revolutionary.

I will pop back when I have more info on the web cast.  Till then…

I will readily admit that I am paranoid, at least when I am in the workplace.  But I believe that I have been trained so to be.

I am an honest person, as honest as any one person can be anyways.  I qualify that because there lies deep in the soul of every human, that child who will from time-to-time show up and bend a truth or tell a "white lie" to get what they want. Or they will employ a lie of omission, by way of not telling all of the facts or completely omitting a fact to give their story more credibility.  Basically, I am admitting to being human.

I am also a man of convictions, a straight shooter, a person who believes that serious communication can not be obtained unless all people involved are willing to express their emotions, and at the same time respect the feelings and emotions of the others involved in the conversation.

That is who I am, or least try very hard to be.  But at work I am surrounded by corruption.  Men and women who believe themselves to be part of the elite, that their wants and whims are more important than the regular folks.  History shows that people of this ilk often believe that if they get what they want, and then everyone will benefit.

I also have to deal with individuals who will steal others work and put their name on it, and contractors who are obviously paying someone a kick-back, because they get such special treatment that history, facts about their time spent conducting non-billalable business, are re-written to allow them to bill the state of New York for that time.

I am in so deep that the man in charge of my bureau is generally considered to be liar by the greater percentage of his staff.  And my immediate supervisor is a yes man, willing to carryout nefarious acts for his superiors, and has not once to my knowledge stood-up for rights or interests of any of his staff.

This is my environment seven and one-half hours a day, five days a week.  I work for the Government of New York State.

Now my psychologist tells me that it is not personal.  That when I get angry at the latest injustice and feel personally attacked by it that I am not seeing things clearly.  And I have to agree with him when he tells me it is obstructing my healing process.

But for me the facts remain the same, when an honest person is put in an environment of corruption, that person has metaphorically been put in a cage.  And when person lives in a cage, even if for only seven and half hours a day, five days a week, that person will become paranoid.
