Hello friends,
Well, first things first, Joseph Fiola, a longtime contributor to ...and then nothing, is leaving Winnipeg to go and live in the great metropolis of Montréal. Zef was the original drummer for ...and then nothing back when we started this thing 5 years ago. After leaving the band for a short time due to other commitments, he returned to play the 2007 Summer Elementsircus with us at the St. Norbert Ruins and has been a part of our line-up ever since. Presently, ...and then nothing is recording a 5 song EP in his basement! Not only is Zef engineering the recording he'll also be playing on it. We're thrilled to have a record of his many great contributions to the band and he will be dearly missed. His enthusiasm and love of music is unmatched.
Not only will our band miss him but so will Winnipeg's music scene. Having spawned and contributed to countless bands over the years, Zef left quite an impression on our city's music. I can't deny that HAM broadened my musical horizons when I was but a young lad navigating those highschool minefields. They fucking kicked ass! They still do! His innovative and challenging drum rhythms expanded quite a few musician's musical minds. To play with Zef was a priviledge to be cherished and savoured... even if he did leave you in his dust every once in a while!
However, Zef won't be leaving without one last rock and roll blow-out! On August 20th at The Pyramid, come see 4 bands Zef' is a part of! HAM (with original member BenWah), ...and then nothing, mersynaesthetik and The Dead Letters will be performing! This is an evening of music not to be missed!
Happy trails man!
Stay tuned for more info on the ...and then nothing recording, coming to a CD player near you.
Cheers, Steph

Hi friends,
Yesterday night was a kick ass gala event to mark the 40th anniversary of Le 100 Nons, an organization that has fostered the growth of franco-manitobain music in our province. Most of the members of ...and then nothing are members of Le 100 Nons and had their musical debuts playing 100 Nons gigs and battle of the bands. So naturally, the whole band was at the gala. It was a magical night at the Pantages Theatre! About 800-900 people were in attendance and afterwards there was a jam in the lobby. Since we were all there, we hit the stage and played two songs: Super Happy Fun and Je Noue.
Other artists who were jamming were Jacques Lussier (rock and roll vagabond), Edmond Dufort (also a rock and roll vagabond), Gerry Paquin, the girls from Chic Gamine, Kin, En Passant, Gilles Fournier, Marc Arnould, members from Les Louis Boys, Michelle Grégoire, Darren Savard and the list goes on and on...
Manitoba really has a rich tradition of french music. It’s great company to have! These artists span 40 years of musical creativity and community. We all grew up looking up to, learning from and playing with these artists. The evening was really special. I haven’t had this much fun in ages.
Great fun to share music.
Stay tuned for upcoming ...and then nothing news. Shows coming up in the next few months and other surprises.
Steph

Hello friends,
For the first time in years, ...and then nothing is set to release a new song into the world for this next show on March 20th. The song is as of yet untitled but should be fun. Yes. Fun. More incentive to come see us play and support the Faculty of Architecture at the UofM. They are building the future... buildings-wise.
That is all. Steph

Gee Whiz! ...and then nothing has a gig!
We are in rehearsals to play a show for the annual UofM Faculty of Architecture Kaffeehause. It's been described to us as a talent show... I suppose we have talent. It all goes down on March 20th at 10:00pm.
It will be a special stripped down version of the band. No. We won't be playing naked. We will just be less people. The band will consist of Derrick Finch and Eric Gosselin on basses, Zef on drums and Pretty Griz on guitar (that's me). Song arrangements might be a little different just to spice things up a bit.
Details about cost of entry and location will soon be posted. Hope to see you there because we might not play again for a very long time...
Yours truly, Pretty Griz

We're playing this week at Elementsircus on the same bill as Damo Suzuki! How cool is that?! It's pretty cool.
The band has been rehearsing and I don't think we've ever sounded better. We've tweaked some of our old songs and are excited to see how they go over live. Here are the tunes we'll be playing in no particular order:
Late November, Northern Michigan Super Happy Fun Song Care Bear Stare Je Noue Untitled (Static)
See you all at the ruins! Steph

Hello,
Our next show is at the Saint-Norbert Arts Centre Ruins. It's the annual Elementsircus organized by our good friend Rob from Absent Sound. This year's line-up is very impressive, featuring headliner Damo Suzuki, from legendary avant-rock band CAN, Absent Sound, Jahsploitation, The Fo!ps, Tone Canoe, High Five Drive, the Fire Pixies and so many more.
We're scheduled to be on stage at 10:30pm. The event starts at 3:00pm I believe. For more info check out the Elementsircus MySpace.
We hope to have a video element to our show as well.
The line-up for our next show includes Derrick Finch (bass), Eric Gosselin (bass), Nadia Gaudet (vox), Danielle Burke (vox), Ivan Burke (drums), Zef Fiola (drums) and me (guitar).
It'll set you back 15$ but I do believe you'll be getting your money's worth! There's also limited camping available on site if you're at all interested.
Hope to see you there! Steph

Howdy friends,
Pretty Grizzly, my solo side project is hitting the stage at the Royal Albert tomorrow night (Friday May 18th) at 10pm. It's my first solo show and I'm opening for 2 other minimalist projects, Slattern and High Watt Electrocutions.
Pretty Grizzly isn't an instrumental project. I use spoken word samples and sing about obsessive love. Obsessive to the point of it being perverse and somewhat disturbing. I'm really a nice guy I swear.
Hopefully some people will come see this "striptease of the soul" as one person I'm acquainted with so eloquently put it.
Yours truly, Steph (AKA Pretty Grizzly)
