There have been a few minor updates to http://breakdancecrew.com in the past few weeks:

- BreakdanceTube video uploading is now fixed.
- Forum membership and posts have been stripped of spammers.

Don't forget to visit the Gear Shop since some new items are being added.

BreakdanceCrew.com has been undergoing some major changes lately.  It's taking on many features seen in other mainstream websites like content rating (digg.com), video uploading (youtube.com), surveys (myopera.com), and a forum (many sites).  Previously it had many features like MySpace, including friend lists, blogging, picture uploads, and more.  Stay tuned, and be sure to frequent the website to see the on-going changes.

BDC is continuing its contest for submissions of videos to be used on the dance moves tutorial page.  Any moves are open game for having new or replacement videos.  For any video that is accepted for a tutorial, 1000 membership points will be given, which can be traded for cash.  Videos that are not accepted will still be placed in the video gallery, earning 100 points for the member.  Remember that membership is free, and that it only takes a minute to join.

Bix, a division of Yahoo!, is hosting the "Extra $50,000 Dance-Off Contest" where you download from their selection of dozens of songs, then record yourself dancing solo or in a pair to the song, and submit it for a chance to win.  If you think you have what it takes to win the prize for being the best dancer, check it out at http://bix.yahoo.com/extra.

Note that this is a third-party offer, and BDC has no part in the event but feel that it would benefit the dance community to make the announcement.

Four songs have just been added for download at www.mp3.com/breakdancecrew, two of which have never been released.  All other songs are also now available for download instead of just being streamed.

"Bust It, BBoy" and "Escape" from BreakdanceCrew.com Vol.1 have been added.  Both versions are identical to the album release with the former being the remix with vocals removed and the latter being the original mix used in the escape scene of the comedy film Two Hitmen by Clinching Productions.

"Club Night" and "Scotland the Rave" are both one minute previews of upcoming releases.  They are just two of several future releases coming soon.

Breakdancecrew.com has just hit a milestone: The 1000th member.  Over the past couple months, crew pages have taken off as well.  To celebrate the milestone, both the members area and the crew area at BDC are being updated to add more features and a more straight-forward user interface.

Crew pages are now live at BreakDanceCrew.com!  A sample page for one of BDC's founding crews is up to get it started.  You can create your crew page under the MyPage section and add members to the crew from your Friends List. Hopefully this new feature to BDC will allow bboys/bgirls to find crews in their areas or organize events and battles. Once several crew pages have been created, a top 10 listing will be placed on the homepage.

The people behind BDC are hard at work on a few new songs, which will be reading by the year's end.  I thought I'd treat viewers of this page with some information about what to expect..

Song 1: "Club Night"
This song takes a harsher sound than some previous releases in BDC vol.1.  It starts with an electric guitar, followed by another in harmony.  These fade into a synth with a strong drumloop. Throughout the rest of the song, the electric guitars and synth compete for dominance.  This is the kind of song that would play in a club when power-move breakers and ravers want to compete for the circle.

Song 2: "Scotland the Rave"
This song starts with a short bagpipes intro that lead into a fully synthed version of "Scotland the Brave" with a strong drum beat and accompanying synths.  Don't let the title fool you; the word "rave" originated from spontaneous parties with loud music and dancing of many types, not just modern-day ravers.  This song is appropriate for many types of club dancing: breaking, popping/locking, raving, etc.

The newest feature added to membership at BreakdanceCrew.com is the opportunity to make money by participating in membership activities. At this moment, funds accumulate for just visiting your account once a day, each playing of a song you submit, and referrals of friends. More opportunities to make money will be added, including raffles, images, videos, and more! The best part is that everything is for free!

I think the QuickTime video problems have been solved now. Let me know if there are any further problems with either the Dance Moves pages or the Videos pages. Work has begun on the YouTube-like video interface, but that will be a little while in the making.Over this past day, several tweaks have been made to BDC's layout. It has mainly been color and font changes, but to maximaize space on each page, the right menu will only appear on the homepage. Also, the glitch for the dance moves tip posting has been fixed.

Some new AIM buddy icons have been posted, and some old ones have been dropped. Several more will be added shortly to give a selection that is actually good.

Probably the biggest noticeable non-cosmetic change has been the addition of a random featured BBoy/BGirl on the homepage. More will be done with that shortly.
