Decibel Festival is a non-profit, four-day annual music and arts festival held in Seattle, WA. Founded in 2003, the festival bridges the gap between technology and creativity through visual art, workshops, panel discussions and cutting-edge electronic music performances. By assembling a diverse selection of international talent, Decibel Festival provides a forum for musicians, industry professionals and educators alike.
The core of the festival is comprised of several concerts and live performances presented in a variety of locations throughout Seattle’s hip Capitol Hill neighborhood. In addition to these performance programs, Decibel includes a professional section featuring panels and workshops. Since its inception, Decibel has hosted over 400 acts ranging from underground dance and experimental electronic music to transmedial art.
The 6th Annual Decibel International Festival of Electronic Music, Visual Art and New Media is scheduled for September 24 through September 29, 2009.

SEATTLE, WA – Listener supported, community radio station KBCS 91.3 FM commemorates 35 years on the air with a birthday bash Saturday, November 15th, 2008, 7:30 PM at Town Hall. Bringing a world of music together in celebration, the night will feature a line up of station favorites: Laura Love with Jenn Todd, Nefasha Ayer, Correro Aereo, as well as Crisinta Orbé and Gabriel Teodros.

Laura Love returns to Seattle to headline with bandmate Jenn Todd. Originally based in the Pacific Northwest, Love has recorded with award-winning Billboard Top 10 producers, and she's spent many years taking her eclectic sound on the road for audiences worldwide. Her international following is as diverse as the many genres blended into her music, a melodic cocktail of jazz, blues, folk, gospel, bluegrass, reggae, and country. It's a sound that defies simple categorization, Acoustic Guitar magazine describing it as "…highly original ...an improbable but irresistible hybrid of hip-grinding rhythms and folk melodies, electric funk bass and Appalachian-inflected vocals." The New York Times gets right to the point, proclaiming, "Her music is exuberant."

South Seattle-raised hip hop MC Gabriel Teodros, whose influential lyrics have been a consistent rallying cry for social change worldwide, will summon the community media soul in a special invocation. San Francisco-based ensemble Nefasha Ayer will then weave the music of Ethiopia and South India with North American jazz and contemporary urban rhythms. The evening will also feature longstanding Seattle favorite Correo Aereo, showcasing a distinctive sound rooted in the cultures and musical traditions of Latin America. Though usually performing as a duo, Correo Aereo's Abel Rocha and Madeleine Sosin make the evening a very special one by feauturing Evan Flory Barnes on bass. Widely acclaimed local singer-songwriter (and vocal powerhouse) Cristina Orbé, a founding member of Forgotten Sol, will bring the evening full circle with a solo acoustic set.

KBCS programmers are community volunteers with a passion for creating radio. Our music is the most eclectic on the dial—from jazz to reggae, Americana to modern global, blues and gospel to electronica and hip hop. We also air Democracy Now! in addition to other nationally and locally-produced cultural and public affairs programs. And because our purpose is to entertain, educate, and involve, KBCS is the only station in the greater Seattle area offering ongoing training opportunities. Visit us at www.kbcs.fm to learn how to get involved.
