We may be gone, as DestinationGO, but we were in the process of creating new songs when we so abruptly met the edge of the Earth (I told you it was flat!)...

Some rough mixes of a few of those musical adventures have been posted for your enjoyment/mourning... enjoy!

Hey gang!  So it's Wednesday, the 25th, which means that after tomorrow, it's Friday, the 27th.  And those of you that care to be a part of our farewell are more than welcome to come sing and dance and drink.  The evening will be sad, with some bittersweet envy.  I, personally, am envious of this band called Destination Go.  I envy any band or any person, for that matter, that has the drive and guts to write music and perform it in front of people.  Even if it's crap, it's got balls.

After the three years that it took to get where we are (which I've said a thousand times is way beyond what I ever thought this project would become.  Dustin and I just decided to play guitars one day for fun, you know), we will be no more.  Well, we will no longer be Destination Go.  Dustin is moving to Japan, which I believe is far east of Kansas City.  But I think you go west to get there.  Confusing.  Anyway, he's refusing to commute.

So again, Record Bar at 6, THIS FRIDAY!!!

So the ride comes to and end after three years.  Hard to believe.  Dustin and I tinkering around in his house without any direction, any ambition.  Then BJ comes along and we actually start writing some songs.  Some songs suck, some songs don't suck so much.  So we try to concentrate on writing songs more like the ones that don't suck as much.

And we put a set of songs together.  And we play a show.  Which, let me tell you, was an experience.  It was at a venue called The Icehouse, which no longer hosts shows, though it's in the same building that Main Street Cafe currently resides.  It was just a big wharehouse with a loud sound system.  And this was the closest thing BJ and I had ever played to real show.  Well, using a sound system, anyway.  And we sucked, I'm sure of it!  But of course, everyone pumped us full of compliments and kept us going.

Not before long, we started recording some music and playing some respectable venues in Kansas City.  It was more than I ever thought this band would become.  We were playing with some well known bands, and of course, some not so well known bands.  We always seemed to hover right in between those two extremes.

And then Eric came along.  And we turned into a really good band.  That was six months ago or so, and we've since played some really cool shows and written some really good songs.  But alas, one of us is leaving the country and well, that makes it diffucult to get together and write music.

So, please, everyone that has seen us, wanted to see us, has never thought about seeing us, whatever the circumstances may be, please come out on....

Friday, February 27th
at The Record Bar
in Westport, KCMO
6:00 PM!!!!

..This is a benefit show called "Sing for the Cure" and supports The Susan G Koeman Foundation as well as All in for AIDS.  The concert is being hosted by Delta Rho of UMKC.

So thank you all so much for your undying support over the last few years.  I've loved being a part of this band, and hope that you will still be able to see the remainder of Destination Go playing around KC before too long.

No, I'm not talking about the impending holiday season...though I could be...I'm talking about recording. For me it is an eternal love/hate relationship...I put so much into it, and never seem to be totally satisfied with the end product. It becomes mentally and physically exhausting to the point where I just want it to be done...but I don't want to do it...but I don't want anyone else to do it...and on and on.

I can only hope that when we set up Friday to begin our session that things go smoothly, and the sounds we capture are pure bliss from the very beginning...but I know that will most likely not be the case...which is why I dread reentering this cycle.

BUT...we have some great new stuff to record, so it is exciting to think about how it will end up, and if we will be able to capture what is in our heads.

We hope to have the EP done by the end of January and have maybe a February or March release date, after the requisite promotions have run. So no shows until January at the earliest.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us and shown us love in my short time with Destination Go so far.

Peace,
-Eric-

So if you've been paying attention, you've noticed that in the last few months DestinationGO has gone from a 3-piece, with an average myspace page and some music from an older EP, to a 4-piece with a snazzy page and new music that was recorded and mixed in only a few weeks.

...and then there was nothing...

Well, my friends, I can assure you there is not "Nothing" going on. We've hit that all-important spot where we have enough new material for a whole hour-long set, so we have been polishing that and preparing for upcoming shows. We've got the 400 Bar in Warrensburg, MO this Friday, Davey's Uptown in KC on Friday October 24, and then a bit of a break before the Record Bar on Saturday, November 22.

After that, we're heading back to the "studio" to record the rest of our newer material. We plan on taking the rest of the year to do this, and taking our time with it. We hope to have an EP (6-7 songs or so) ready to release in early 2009!

So there...we're not just sitting around doing nothing...

To everyone who came out to the Record Bar on a Thursday night to support us in our first show in this new venture...thank you. We had a great time, and hopefully you did, too! Weekday shows are always hard to get people to commit to, but you all came through big for us! We had a great turn out and everyone was very responsive.

Thanks again, and we hope this is the beginning of something great!

A big, hearty "Thank You" to all of you who have recently added DestinationGO as a friend, and/or added one of our songs to your profile! Since we released the new stuff a few weeks ago, we've been very pleased with the responses and comments of encouragement.

You know, it used to be a lot easier on Myspace...before it became full of incessant spammers and invalid profiles...it was truly a great place for bands to connect with new fans and spread their music on a whole new level. But Myspace got a little too "big for it's britches", so to speak, and many bands abused the tool by sending out mass, generic messages and requests, and "friend bots" were created to do all the work for lazy people, and myspace became very impersonal...Thus, ushering in the age of people deleting every band friend request they get, or setting their profiles to not allow friend requests from bands.

SO, we greatly appreciate all of you, and especially those who take the chance to open a friend request from an unknown band trying to reach out to potential fans in a personal way, and checking out the songs and clicking "Accept". :-)

So don't be a stranger! Keep in touch, we will interact with everyone who wants to interact with us. We feel, as fans or music ourselves, that we should treat potential fans as we would hope bands we like would treat us.

On that note; I hope to have another new song up in the next few days. Shortly after that, we'll be starting recording some new material, all of which will be presented for your auditory pleasure at any live show we play. Speaking of which, more shows are on their way, so keep checking back, and we'll try to keep the page as interesting as possible.

So its been a little over a month and a half since I joined DestinationGO...Dustin wasn't even living here again until August 1...and already we have written an entire new set (with the exception of "Crimson" and a reworked version of "365"), recorded and mixed two songs (a third is almost done, so stay tuned), revamped the 'Space', did a photoshoot, designed and printed posters, had our first show cancelled (R.I.P The Studio) and played in someone's living room for a benefit party.

On top of that, we wrote two more songs tonight. Two more songs that make even us say, "WTF?!? Where did we pull those from?" When you've played music for over 15 years, taken the ride to the edge, ruined relationships, good paying jobs and generally put yourself in a great deal of financial distress all in the name of making a living out of music...well... it takes a lot to excite you, musically speaking. ;-)

And I am beyond excited about what we are doing! Every song gets better, more mature, more spacious, more meaningful...in less time than it takes to get your plates at the DMV (ok...almost that quick).

The real unveiling will be the Record Bar show on September 11. And already, it's looking like our set will be expanded even further with new material that is the best music I have been a part of in my entire "career" in music! We hope you can join us for the journey.
