CALVIN HARRIS : Merrymaking his way across Australia with Good Vibrations 2008!

Mayhem-causing new single 'Merrymaking at my Place' on your radios & tv's next week!

With hits like Acceptable in the 80s, The Girls and the upcoming dancefloor hit Merrymaking at My Place already to his name, you can see why disco is coming back in fashion.

Now it's time for everyone to dance, sing and definitely jump around to his banging electro-pop-dance-disco delights in the flesh when Calvin Harris and his 5 piece band play the national Good Vibrations Festival 2008.

Calvin Harris's debut album, with the subtle title I Created Disco, says it all: this guy is here to get you dancing!  Merrymaking at My Place is the 3rd single from this album, and is the mayhem-causing track that conservatives tried to block in the UK as it apparently 'promoted partying'. What was all the fuss about? Check it out here:

http://merrymaking.calvinharris.co.uk/merrymakingatyourplace/

Calvin was recently nominated for a Q Award for Best Breakthrough Artist – so be sure to hold onto your hats when he comes merrymaking down under!

Calvin will be in fine form at the following Good Vibrations Festival dates:

Sat 9 February                   Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne VIC

Sun 10 February       Doug Jennings Park, Gold Coast QLD

Sat 16 February        Centennial Park, Sydney NSW

Sun 17 February       Heirisson Island, Perth WA

*Tickets for the festival go on sale nationally 9 November on:

PRESS RELEASE

PUSCIFER

Yet another appendage sprouting out of the anomaly known as

Maynard James Keenan

"Enigmatic is a misnomer. Most likely a byproduct of my absence in the press. An assumption arrived at due to the lack of available information, accurate or otherwise. I don't do that many interviews. Generally because of my private life and my classified activities, but mostly because I'm not very good at them. The conversation in my head never matches the conversation that ends up in print." So says the conductor and driving force behind Puscifer, the current project of vocalist Maynard James Keenan.

"I guess maybe it's time to come clean on a few things. As you most likely suspected, I'm an undercover C.I.A. operative. Hence the tendency towards the secretive behavior. I've been an agent since I was 11 years old. I was recruited at a county fair at the age of 8. Multiple blue ribbons in the disciplines of knots, archery, and animal husbandry may have been the carrot that lured in the agency, but I can't be certain. Suffice it to say that not unlike Elvis, I answered when my nation called. Willingly. Of course, all that I've said and all I'm about to disclose is highly classified and not to be repeated. Pinky promise?"

Secrets and the voices in Maynard's head are clearly the fuel that move this new project. Those and perhaps a slightly loose grip on what most of us would consider reality. "Hey! I heard that!" mumbles one of his many voices.

For the moment, let's ignore the voices and focus on the so-called facts.

Puscifer is Maynard's multifaceted, multimedia, multi-artist, multi-personality project. It involves film, music, digital video, garments, feminine hygiene products, coffee, pet supplies, websites, blogs, artist collaborations, a few office supplies, and a grip on the idea that chaos is good and that change is inevitable. Just a few of the artists who have passed through these confusing gates: Mat Mitchell, Tim Alexander, Lei Li, Jonny Polonsky, Cherie Roberts, Ainjel Emme, Brandon Bryant, Danny Lohner, Josh Eustis, Gil and Rani Sharone, Lustmord, Laura Milligan, Meats Meier, Evil Joe Barresi, Trey Gunn, Milla Jovovich, Lisa Germano, Tim Cadiente, Ford Englerth, Jeffrey Brooks, Micah, Alan Moulder, Eddie McClintock, Joe Nagy, Nipples Creelman, Devo. The list goes on.

"Actually, none of these people really exist. Each is a deep cover alias. That none of them bare any resemblance whatsoever to the real me is a testament to my hard work, keen focus, and attention to detail. A few I've been developing for decades." Truth or Tragedy? The verdict is still out.

Many of these collaborative efforts will see the light of day in the Fall of 2007. The release date for the full collection of songs titled V is for Vagina is Oct. 27, and the scheduled unveiling of several new pieces and garments, available only at puscifer.com, is Sept. 27, the birthday of Maynard's Yorkie and sidekick, Miho (also rumored to be an alias.)

So why this new project? Dare we ask? "I'm on a mission. I've been assigned to be the guardian of a highly classified, highly effective Sonic Weapon of Mass Disruption. This sonic technology when 'unleashed,' if you will, causes parts of the anatomy to vibrate uncontrollably. Not unlike when someone yawns, everyone in the surrounding area will be affected. If executed properly, the subjects will be temporarily distracted from their duties. Their bodies will appear to be abducted by the Soul Train, as if J-Lo were auditioning for the 'Thriller' video. Awe inspiring. Don't speak a word of it."

Puscifer's debut album, "V is For Vagina", Oct. 27 on Puscifer Entertainment/Red Label

TOP #10 ALBUM "I CREATED DISCO" TO BE RELEASED JULY 7

ALBUM PROMO TOUR CONFIRMED JULY 11 – 14

Calvin Harris creates music that makes people want to dance. At just 23 years of age and hailing from Dumfries, Scotland, this young DJ will release his subtly titled debut album "I Created Disco" on July 7 through Red Label/SonyBMG.  In exciting news, Calvin is also confirmed to be coming to Australia for an album promotional tour July 11-14.

Calvin has already enjoyed much chart success in the UK"I Created Disco" debuted at #8 on the UK Chart this week.  His first single, "Acceptable in the 80's," was also a Top 10 hit on the UK Singles Chart, remaining in the chart for 15 weeks.  In Australia "Acceptable in the 80's," was also a Top 10 hit on the Australian Club Chart.  Calvin's second single "The Girls" debuted at #3 on the UK Singles Chart and currently sits comfortably in the Top #5.

"I Created Disco" was made in Calvin's bedroom on a battered old Amiga computer for $0 and after garnering a huge cult following on MySpace, he signed a record deal. But don't tag him as just one of those 'MySpace sensations'. He is wildly popular amongst The Kids and on The Club Scene. He is also writer, producer and visionary behind his own label FlyEye and is not afraid to handle vocal duties himself.

Since the release of "Acceptable in the 80's" Calvin has developed an impressive reputation and fan base, with both Mark Ronson & Groove Armada as noted fans. Groove Armada proving as much by asking Calvin to be their support act on their recent UK tour.  Calvin also supported Faithless on their recent Arena tour, playing to 100,000 people.

Calvin also gained attention in the media lately after being called in to produce and write tracks for Kylie Minogue's new album.  He has also done a remixes of Groove Armada's "Get Down" and Cansei De Ser Sexy "Let's Make Love And Listen Death From Above."

At present, Calvin is on his own headline UK tour which includes festival dates such as Global Gathering and T In The Park.  However, in between his touring he has made some time to head down to Australia to promote his debut release.  Calvin will be in Australia July 11 – 14.

-XIII TOURING AND CHUGG ENTERTAINMENT ARE PLEASED
TO ANNOUNCE THAT THE VIEW WILL BE TOURING IN JUNE

THE VIEW, THE VIEW, THE VIEW are on fire…..so goes the chant from their
rabid fans at their apocalyptic sold out ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />UK gigs. Seemingly from nowhere to
Number 1 in the UK album charts, an NME song of the year and audiences |in excess of 5000 in a matter of minutes….there can be no doubt that
THE VIEW, THE VIEW, THE VIEW are indeed, on fire.

Kings Arms June 4th (Queens Anniversary Day) – it will be a bit like seeing
the Sex Pistols, Oasis or The Arctic Monkeys in a tiny pub before anyone
else knew about them. Sharpen your pencils, get your tickets coz this
ones going down in the history books.

And its not only us……..listen to Bobby Gillespie (of Primal Scream, aka the
greatest band ever and official Godlike Genius) in declaring The View his
favourite new band and taking the four teenage upstarts out on the road.

With an average age well under 20, The View are fronted by the charismatic
Kyle Falconer alongside school friends Keiren, Peter and Steve. Self taught
and spontaneous they casually blew away other established bands at
every gig they played and the resulting bidding war is history.

James Endeacott from his newly formed 1965 Records label (the man who
signed the Strokes and Libertines to Rough Trade) won their hearts and
signatures and lined up Owen Morris (Verve, Oasis, Ash, Fratellis) for
album production duties.

"When James told people that he was sending us off to record with Owen," laughs Peter, "Everyone apparently said to him, 'Why the hell are you sending the boys off to work with him? He's mental!' and he replied by saying, 'Well, Owen's mental - but the boys are fucking insane!'"

The chemistry worked – 'Hats Off To The Buskers' is a massive album rammed
with incredible songs. From 'Wasted Little DJs' (described by NME as
"total unquestionable genius") to 'The Don', 'Skag Trendy' and 'Same Jeans',
The View recall everything from Iggy through the Buzzcocks, the La's, the
Libs and the Undertones ('Superstar Tradesman' quite
possibly being this generations 'Teenage Kicks).

Its riot rock and it's the sound of a teenage band euphorically re-energising
guitar music with a swagger, a grin and a belly full of real life punk flecked top
pop tunes. It's the sound of the streets of Dryburgh, Dundee filtered into songs
that are certifiable anthems reaching for the stars.

Some people are saying they are a generation defining zeitgeist band.
We're saying we think it will be a pretty good gig !

The Red Label are very excited to announce the release of one of the most talked about tribute albums among the music industry to date

..:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />

The Go-Betweens were an internationally influential Indie rock band from Australia, formed by guitarists Robert Forster and Grant McLennan in Brisbane in 1977, who count amongst their admirers Belle and Sebastian, Wilco, and not least of all U2.

The focal point of the group was the songwriting skills of Forster and McLennan, famously described by Village Voice critic Robert Christgau as "the greatest songwriting partnership working today." Each developed a distinctive but complementary style: Forster's songs were angular and angst-ridden, making much use of irony and unusual lyrical imagery, while McLennan's were generally softer and more sensitive, his lyrics often based on character study and reported speech.

Forster and McLennan pursued solo careers throughout the '90s but were inspired to work together after they were invited by fans at French music magazine Les Inrockuptibles to perform at the magazine's 10th anniversary. In 2000, Forster and McLennan reformed The Go-Betweens, assisted by all three members of Sleater-Kinney, and recorded the album The Friends of Rachel Worth. The most recent line-up (2005) included Forster, McLennan, Adele Pickvance (bass) and Glenn Thompson (drums).

In May 2006, Grant McLennan tragically passed away. Poignantly, Grant's passing occurred just as The Go -Betweens had recaptured their magic with a brand new album, some thirty years after their formation with 'Oceans Apart' (produced by Mark Wallis and Dave Ruffy) subsequently winning an ARIA award for Best Adult Contemporary Album in October 2005.

On Thursday November 30, 2006 the cream of ..:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 />Australia's singer / songwriters came together to celebrate and pay tribute to one of the greatest Australian bands of all time.

With Triple J and former Custard front man Dave McCormack, as the backbone behind the project, something was created that was indeed more than a one –off performance.

It was soon after, that "Write Your Adventures Down" came to life.

Complimented with what can only be described as Australia's 'pick of the crop', some of which include Bob Evans, Josh Pyke and Patience Hodgson from The Grates, "Write Your Adventures Down" is a finely crafted mix of the songs that defined an era, which have been tastefully re-ignited to give this music to a new generation.

"It was too special an event to not live beyond the hour that it lasted that night on stage."

Richard Kingsmill

Triple J Music Director
