Ok, so last night, Firday the 13th, scary night. . .oooh! We had a show scheduled at The Delancey. The legendary NYC promototer Frank Wood called us a week ago, and asked us if we wanted to fill in a cancellation slot. I figured, "hey why not? It's a Friday night, it's The Delancey, and we haven't played a Frank Wood gig for a while and it'll be a good chance to get back in the scene." I checked with the band, they all said yes. I called and confirmed with Frank, and he said "OK, 1am"

Little word of advice. . . .ALWAYS ASKE WHAT TIME.

So we show up to the club early. By early, I mean midnight. We all had long obnoxious days at work, Yancy was sick as a dog, blowing snot out his face left and right. I had just learned that the car I bought nearly a month ago had a blown cylinder head and was going to cost $2000 to fix. So I'm arriving fresh out of a rage-fest, having thrown a chair accross the room, and breaking a ladder. (I have a bit of a temper).

So, 1:15 rolls around. Which is 15 minutes past our scheduled set time. The band that is now setting up on the stage is not the band before us, but the band before the band before us! That's right, 1:15, and 2 bands to go. At this point, we're not going on till 3am. (And there was even a band on after us!)
By 3am, even our 1 fan would have left.

We look around the room, look at each other, sling our gear across our backs and go. Yancy went home to sweat under the covers, I went to drink my automotive sorrows away with Sakura and Zach. It was a wise desicion, and don't nobody try to convince us otherwise.

Sooner or later, people around the world will be flocking to a Kindergarten show, to watch them ditch their set. Think of the marketing possibilities!!

So we finally did it. We had a great show with a great turn-out. I don't have many humorous antics to submit in this blog, because it was an actual downright good show.

We had a turnout of over 50 people, (which is, yes, good for NYC). Everyone seemed to have a good time. (They always do) I would like to persnally thank everybody who came and showed their support. The success of this show will get us a great gigging schedule for 2009.

Ok, ok, it wouldn't be a Kindergarten gig without some heavy drinking. However we were able to hold off until after our set (for once). But my lord, it's 2 days later and I'm still throwing up. Yancy's face melted off his skull. Sakura shaved her head, and tattooed an anchor on her face. Zach now prefers to be called Josephine.

We get carried away sometimes.

Oh man, what a night. You'd be surprised who's still out looking for a party at 2am on a Tuesday night. Our set, scheduled for the already ungodly time of midnight, didn't begin till the ripe old hour of 1:30. But despite the sun coming up by the time we finished, we killed it, and kept the crowd dancing and drinking. We plowed through a great set filled with a buncha new songs a Kinder-rendition of "Under Pressure."

Our good friend Dom sat in on the drums while Yancy was jerkin off in Europe.

Overall a good night. Late, but fun

Not to mention, after getting home at 5am, I had my drivers test this morning at 10. Passed with flying mother fuckin colors. . .

Why why why?? Why do the 4 members of KG ABSOLUTELY INSIST on getting shit-hammered drunk after every show? Oh, and it's no accident. We don't just sit around and have a coupla drinks until - - oops!, we're drunk!! No, we get off the stage and order shots and shots and shots. Who the fuck do we think we are.

I think I remember drinking one of those Sparks things last night. You know, those energy drinks with booze in em? Damn, if you ever get the opportunity to drink one of these, DON'T!! I seem to recall jogging around the bar, then going up to complete strangers and doing the Ed Grimley Jr dance. (And why does my butthole hurt?)

Funny thing was that each of us specifically had to be up early this morning for various reasons.

Oy . . . .it's early.

But other than that, we enjoyed playing last night, and The Annex is the best club in NYC, hands down!!

Welcome to KiNDERGARTEN's post-gig diaries. We'll be recapping the events leading up to and following our local NYC gigs from now on. Keep reading... the stories can get pretty interesting.

Last night's show was a doozy. I had tonsils the size of golf balls, and Sakura was puking all day long. With 2 sick band members (and 2 other band members who are just sick in the head) we barely made it through the night.

However, I managed to sing through my golf balls, which actually provided me with a nice, coarse tone to my usually sweet and beautiful voice. Sakura managed not to puke all over her keyboards and Yancy managed not to hit on anyone while playing on stage. Zach was, um, Zach.

The show ended up being a nice little low-key, intimate kind of thing and worked out pretty nicely. If any of you have ever been to Alphabet Lounge, you'll know that the cans are up next to the stage. So we had a clear view of anyone who had to go 1 or 2. These two trannies kept going in and out of the bathroom, and I had to stop myself from making comments into the microphone about how long they were in there. I mean, what did they eat?? My mind wanders.

When we got back to our studio and unloaded our stuff, despite being sick, we still managed to knock back a coupla shots of Beam. Hey, you only live once... might as well live it sick and drunk.
