Current mood:Humiliated
I did something really, really, really, incredibly fucking stupid tonight.
And you know what the worst part is? The absolutely gut-wrenching, most horrible part of the entire idiotic thing I did?
There won't even be any consequences.
It doesn't even matter.
I'm completely and utterly irrelevant.

Terribly sorry I haven't written lately--that is, if any of you are actually reading this. School's kept me incredibly busy. I'm really, really glad I decided not to work this semester. I'd be a small sizzling puddle of fatigue on the floor right now if I tried to juggle everything and work.
Speaking of things that're keeping me busy, I got into As You Like It at school. It was a smaller part than I wanted--I'm playing Corin the shepherd--but it actually works out with my schedule. (I've only got 60 or so lines to memorize instead of over 200.)
I'm also doing the dramaturge thing. I've been advising the rest of the cast on the historical background of the play, language, the meaning of various words, and so on. I've also written the audience guide to the play that'll be going into the program. I'm pretty excited about the whole thing.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go continue working on the 70-odd questions I need to answer for my directing class by Thursday...argh.

I'm back in school now. I've got a metric assload of reading and paperwork to do, but on the up side, I'm spending my days completely immersed in theatre and surrounded by people who love it as much as I do.
Better yet, my student loan finally came in and I can afford things again. (Including a vet visit for one of the cats...poor thing. She's feeling better, though.) I have all but one of my textbooks, and I can pay things like the cable and the credit cards again.
I have an audition for my first Shakespeare play in somewhere around three years tomorrow. Wish me luck, won't you?

Bleah. That's all I have to say. Bleah.
Okay, that's not entirely true. My job, while tolerable and interesting, is starting to wear thin. I'm so ready to get back to school I can taste it.
It doesn't help that I really, really need my student loan money at the moment. I took a trip to Just Brakes last Saturday because my brakes had started making that horrible metal-on-metal SQUEEEEEEE sound that lets you know you really can't delay any longer.
Long story short: they charged me upwards of $300, and that was only after a long retarded argument of the "But aren't those your initials there on the work order, sir?" variety. Pigfuckers.
I'm out of money, I'm behind on the cable, I'm out of my medication, I haven't been in a play since November, and I still need to buy textbooks. The semester can't start soon enough.

It's supposed to get up near a hundred degrees today, and it's going to stay this hot until about Saturday. Seriously, what the hell, people?
On the up side, I was talking to a guy who's in the sketch comedy show I'm doing this month, and we got onto the subject of Shakespeare movies. After about ten minutes of us talking about characters and adaptations and so on, he stopped and said, "Wow. Man, I just dabble in Shakespeare, but you...you drink deep." It was a nice feeling.
Also, there was a woman hanging around after the show last Thursday who sat down next to me, asking me about my background, talking about my bio from the program, complimenting my performance, and so on. I'm not entirely sure, but I think she might have been hitting on me. Freaking sweet...if she was. I can never tell these days.

Well, I finally managed to find some summer work so I can do silly things like keep the cable and phone from getting cut off. Huzzah! Better yet, it's work that doesn't make me want to vomit with rage--I'm a hardware compatibility tester for a local video game beta testing company.
What that means is I spend my days building PCs, loading operating systems and games on them, and then playing the games to help determine what the minimum system requirements are. It's relatively easy work in a laid-back environment--for example, an attack in one game started to be called "ice bukkake" after I got particularly loopy after five straight days of testing the same levels over and over.
I got lucky with this one, I think. I might ask to come back next summer if they like my performance enough.

You know, if you'd told me even two years ago that someday I'd be getting into arguments with people over things like epic theatre versus expressionism or how much interpretation Shakespearean text needs before you act it, I'd have called you crazy.
All I know is I'm having a lot more fun doing this sort of thing than writing software for the government.

Okay, now it's really official...I got an A in all four classes. Go, me. You can help me celebrate by going to your local arcade. If you're at all a fan of They Might Be Giants, you owe it to yourself to check out this video. It's one of my favorite-yet-obscure songs of theirs set to a neat little Flash cartoon. Enjoy.

The grades for all four of last semester's classes have shown up. Apparently I got an A in all of them. It's a little disheartening, actually--I half-assed at least one of the classes really, really badly, and still passed it easily.
Still, I'm not going to complain too much. Now if I could just get rid of the old computer science classes that are dragging my GPA down by a quarter-point or so...

Spring cleaning day, especially since the in-laws are going to be here this weekend. Things are getting moved around and getting put on top of other things, rugs are being vaccuumed, the (shudder) bathroom floor is getting scrubbed...there's even some dusting being done. It's simultaneously gratifying and incredibly tedious.
My medium-term goal is to make enough money to hire someone to do this instead of us.
