12/14/2009:  “Do I” by Luke Bryan goes to No.1 !!!  “Need You Now" at No.1 for 5th week!!!

“Do I” by Luke Bryan goes to the top of the Country Aircheck chart this week.  This hit song was written by W/C’s Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood along with Luke Bryan.

Kelley and Haywood, who along with Hillary Scott make up Lady Antebellum, are also at the top of the Billboard Country chart with the Lady A smash, “Need You Now” for the fifth consecutive week – more weeks at No.1 than any other country song in 2009!  Kelley and Haywood co-wrote “Need You Now” with Scott and hit songwriter Josh Kear.  Lady A are still riding high off of their previous No.1 this year, “I Run To You”.

This is the 3rd consecutive week that W/C writers have held the top three Country positions.  Also fighting for the No.1 spot is “Consider Me Gone’ by Reba – written by W/C’s Marv Green along with Steve Diamond.

11/16/2009:

"Need You Now" rises straight to the top of radio and iTunes charts!

Still riding a wave of shock and excitement from their wins at last week’s CMA Awards, Capitol Nashville trio Lady Antebellum has scored their second No.1 hit as the lead single and title track “Need You Now” from their forthcoming sophomore album strides into the top spot today on both the Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts.  It is their second consecutive No.1 hit, and it is also now spending its sixth week at No.1 on the Billboard Canada Country chart.

The trio was awarded “Group of the Year” and “Single of the Year” at last week’s CMA Awards, where they also performed the passionate lead single.  Following that dramatic performance, the song shot straight to the top of the iTunes all-genre digital singles chart and has held its place there since.

“We have been on clouds 9, 10, 11 and 12 all week,” says Hillary Scott.  “As songwriters, we really couldn’t be more proud…we are just putting our stories and emotions in these songs and to know that other people have these same feelings is so amazing and wonderful and validating…not just on an artistic level, but also on a human level…We feel so much love from the country music community and other artists and country radio and the fans.   I get emotional even talking about it now.”

Lady Antebellum is gearing up for the release of their sophomore album NEED YOU NOW on Jan. 26, 2010.  They will finish up a few remaining tour dates through the end of the year and then join megastar Tim McGraw on his “Southern Voice” tour at the beginning of next year.

* Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady A are also the co-writers of the No.3 Country song this week – Luke Bryan’s “Do I”.  Charles and Dave are both writers for Warner/Chappell.

Lady Antebellum Certified Platinum
Lady Antebellum announced plans today to release their sophomore album titled NEED YOU NOW on Jan. 26, 2010.   The lead single by the same name is the fastest rising of their career to date pushing its way into Billboard's Top 10 in just nine weeks.
"This song, and what we've finished of the new album so far, is all about passion," explains guitarist/vocalist Dave Haywood.  "There's a real sense of urgency and fire...almost like a spark has reignited us creatively in the studio...so when we started talking about album titles, 'Need You Now' felt like it summarized our vibe right now perfectly."
The highly anticipated release date for new music from the CMA's 2008 "New Artist of the Year" comes the same day their self-titled debut album was certified PLATINUM by the RIAA for over one million in sales.  The album has also now been certified GOLD in Canada.  Additionally, 18 months after its release, the disc that was called "one of the best new artist debuts in recent memory" by Billboard has never slipped from the Top 10 on iTunes Country chart.
"This is just beyond anything we ever could have imagined when we sat down to write our first song together in 2006," said an overwhelmed Hillary Scott upon learning about their PLATINUM status.  "I wish we could thank every one of the fans personally...that would be the coolest thing in the world for us.   Everybody always says they have the best fans in the world, but 'everybody' hasn't met Lady A's fans...they are truly the best!"
Lady Antebellum took country music by storm with the release of their debut album, which spawned the smash hits "Love Don't Live Here," "Lookin' for a Good Time" and the recent No. 1 hit "I Run to You."  The trio took home "Best New Artist" trophies from both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music in 2008 and racked up countless other award nominations, including two GRAMMY and three CMT Music Award nods.

Tens of millions of fans have watched the group gather momentum over the last 18 months as they've performed on "Today," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," "The Early Show," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," along with countless network television specials including ABC's "Country Music Association Awards" and "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night To Rock," as well as the "CMT Music Awards" and CBS' "Academy of Country Music Awards."

Additionally, Lady Antebellum has helped build their fanbase one person at a time by taking their dynamic stage show out on the road with some of country's biggest and best entertainers this past year including Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Martina McBride and Jason Aldean.
With country music fans and television audiences clamoring for more Lady A, the band will travel to Los Angeles on Fri, Oct. 9 to debut "Need You Now" on "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien." LADY ANTEBELLUM LAUNCHES  SOPHOMORE ALBUM WITH URGENT LEAD SINGLE "NEED YOU NOW"

Lady A is introducing the lead single "Need You Now" off their forthcoming Capitol Nashville sophomore album to radio stations across the country today.  The single goes for official adds on Aug. 24.

Written by group members Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott, along with co-writer Josh Kear, the song is an urgent plea for the kind of companionship that estranged lovers still yearn for in the lonely hours after midnight.  The passionate track begins with a gorgeous piano intro and finds Scott's dramatic alto shining on lead vocals, while Kelley adds layers of soulful dimension to the stunning duet.

"A lot of the songs that we've written for the album so far, and this one in particular, are about what we are learning as we go through the ups and downs of different relationships," explains Scott.  "All three of us know what it's like to get to that point where you feel lonely enough that you make a late night phone call that you very well could regret the next day.  But you do it anyway because it's the only thing that's going to give you any relief in that moment."

Following on the heels of their first No. one hit and the biggest song of their career to date "I Run To You," Lady Antebellum has returned to the recording studio to put the finishing touches on their yet-to-be-titled sophomore album.

"We are pouring our hearts into writing this new album," adds Haywood.  "The songs are more personal, the production is bigger, and I think we are in a stronger place vocally than we've ever been...just from all the touring we've done this year.  We're really anxious to get home and get it finished."
