This is what I just sent out to my loyal newsletter receivers.

First, I've started a kickstarter page for my upcoming album Casualties.

From now until Feb 3, you can pledge any amount, from $3, to help fund the album pressing, cover photo, and mastering (I need to raise at least $2500 for this; ideally more so I can advertise a little, as well.) Pledges of $10 or more get rewards; in that sense it's basically an elaborate early pre-order.

The most popular reward so far is actually the most expensive -- a $325 pledge earns you a custom Unwoman song with your own lyrics. So far four people have chosen this option and I'm really excited to see what they send. (here's a little more about song poems:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1079647662/casualties-unwoman-solo-album/posts ) I might continue offering the song poem service after my kickstarter funding period's ended, but I’m not sure.

I have no public solo shows in SF coming up,* but have been booked in Victoria, Canada this May for the Victoria Steam Exposition: http://victoriasteamexpo.blogspot.com/

I'm very excited about an upcoming event, however -- members of Stripmall Archtecture, Victoria Lloyd of Claire Voyant, several other string players and myself are all putting together an epic tribute to This Mortal Coil at Cafe Du Nord in SF Thursday, January 7. I'll be singing on a few songs and playing cello on most songs. The event will very likely sell out, so get tickets in advance!

All of my albums are now up for download on bandcamp. http://unwoman.bandcamp.com/ They are cheaper there than on iTunes or Amazon mp3, and more of the money goes to me, so if you are missing any albums and don't need physical CDs, this is the place to pick them up; you can even get them in lossless formats. (CD Baby is still the place to get my physical CDs.) Also on Bandcamp, a couple "instant covers" I've thrown together recently. http://unwoman.bandcamp.com/album/demo-covers -- there'll be more, so stay tuned!

Also, my ustream channel is here and I very occasionally use it to broadcast when I'm practicing. http://www.ustream.tv/unwoman

Thanks for listening, everyone!

Erica

*(I would, however, love to be playing solo in SF all the time. Any gigs or cello work in which my extraordinary talents would be appreciated anyone can pass my way, I would love to hear about. I'll have a house concert at my small apartment if I have to, and maybe ustream it, since it seems no one in SF wants to book me at a regular show.)

Kickstarter - Casualties: Unwoman solo album
Shared via AddThis

I just launched my kickstarter page, and the most popular option so far is also the most expensive option: $325 for a custom song poem performed & recorded by me. See here for the story: http://unwoman.livejournal.com/164345.html

Martin of Vernian Process is in a financial jam, you can read about that here:
http://dj-fact50.livejournal.com/23..9475.html

But wait! Don't donate directly to him if you have yet to pick up The Keys or Trouble. All proceeds from download sales I make on BandCamp in the next 36 hours (it could be $200, it could be $0, who knows) I will donate to Martin's fund. You can put in any amount for either album, minimum $6 for one, $5 for the other. Any extra $ will go to Martin except mail purchases of actual keys from which I'll keep just $4 from each; USB drives I'll keep $10 from each. Be sure to send me an email if you'd like any physical product & include your mailing address.

This applies to any purchases made before midnight tomorrow night. I'll report back & donate my winnings to the cause Saturday morning & we'll see how far we've gotten.

Also on my bandcamp, an Instant Cover I did of Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited." Go over there to hear it.

In honor of SteamCon (this weekend in Seattle; the concert is sold out, the cabaret is not) I've released something new to tide you over until my "real albums" Casualties and Uncovered come out in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

If you're coming to see me in Seattle, Chapel Hill NC, or San Francisco in the next couple of months, you can get this from me in person.

The Keys has three purchase options. 1. download for $6.00 at unwoman.bandcamp.com 2. in-person $10.00/Online $11.00: download card + antique key and 3. in-person  $30.00/online $31.00: USB drive with *all published works* including The Keys, + an antique key, as pictured here.

To get either option 2 or 3 online, when you go to download at Bandcamp, just enter $11.00+ for the download + antique key, or $31+ for the download, USB drive + antique key. Be sure to include your mailing address in the paypal transaction, or in an email to me!

August 14, opening for James Perry, playing ~50-minute, meaty, deep, intense solo set.

August 19-20 -- you'll need advance tickets for this intimate & exciting event! www.musicboxseries.com All Ages, but with some mature content.

I'm going to bahlete my personal myspace profile (keeping this music profile up of course) soon as it's totally pointless, there are no humans on here.

Find me on facebook (which I'll check once a day or so... still more than here) I'm Erica Unwoman Mulkey and there's also a band page for Unwoman (I'm just a few people shy of the 100 I need to get a real URL for that, so it'll help if you become a "fan")

I'm still using twitter a lot as my boyfriend is one of the twitterati (he insists he's a "Twitter Hottie") http://twitter.com/unwoman

And come to my shows for crying out loud!

If you're on my email list, you just got this newsletter (I'm sending you over to my livejournal, since myspace disables links).

In my day job at Moderati I began as a ringtone producer in December 2005. It was an amazing job because it actually made use of the skills I went to college for (I majored in music & minored in electronic music.) However things change and my job morphed into handset multimedia testing, mobile video production, and QA on these new iPhone apps.

We're a small company that used to be bigger. We have tight relationships with record labels and phone carriers. My coworkers and I put many hours of development and testing into the Romplr apps and I hope my iPhone-having readers will check them out.

Wired has great things to say about our remix app as a savior of the music industry (copy and paste this link into your browser): http://icanhaz.com/romplr

Soulja Boy Tell 'em is our first artist romplr. He's twittering about it, promoting it more than we possibly could.
http://icanhaz.com/souljaromplr

We also have two original Romplrs -- Romplr Lite is free and has one kit on it, and Romplr Dance has 3. If Soulja Boy isn't your cup of tea I strongly recommend checking out Romplr Dance or at the very least Romplr Lite so you get a feel for it.

(Myspace will certainly disable these links to the app store so you need to copy & paste them into your browser.)

SOULJA BOY ($4.99)

http://icanhaz.com/souljaromplr

DANCE LITE (Free)

http://icanhaz.com/literomplr

DANCE FULL ($2.99)

http://icanhaz.com/danceromplr

There are other artists, mostly hip hop, coming out in the next few months, so stay tuned. There are also two Unwoman romplr kits with *completely new songs* that I've made content for that we may or may not release, depending on how successful the romplr in general is.

Let me know what you think if you check it out!

I see we can now have 10 songs. Great! Which should I add? anyone have an Unwoman song they'd just love in their playlist that I don't already have up?

You have until May 1 to pick 3 songs, my people. Get requesting. :)

PS: It was so amazingly fantastic seeing so many great fans out at the Voltaire/Vernian Process show in SF last night. I'm sorry I barely had a second to talk to anyone. Thank you for coming!!

Tonight, please join me at Death Guild to send me off in style. It's my last night out in SF for a month, not counting 4/7 at the Elbo Room where I'll be WORKING -- playing with both bands! The last time I played with a national touring act I didn't get to play in SF with them, so this is your chance to see me being the most famousest I've ever gotten to be in my hometown.

4/7 show details:

The Elbo Room

Voltaire http://www.myspace.com/voltairenyc

Vernian Process http://www.myspace.com/vernianprocess

9:00 pm, 21+

Tickets $11 adv/$13 door (almost everyone I know is coming, so I recommend getting your tix in advance)

FOR THE TOUR DATES WITH VOLTAIRE, please don't use the list I posted a few weeks ago, I can't keep that up to date. Rather, use the schedule on Voltaire's myspace as that will be updated if any dates are added, venues chagned, etc, while we're on the road. I am playing all the dates in April listed as "with the SKELETAL ORCHESTRA."

I am doing my best to be uberprofessional for this tour. Being very adult. I am getting my cello insured, my bow rehaired, just bought a big suitcase and a music stand light, and am practicing the material every night and learning it very thoroughly. It's important that I make a good impression if I want to have the option of a career as a touring musician. An option I may not choose -- I've chosen the stability of a day job over it before, but then I was forced to, and I may choose differently now that I'm allowed to make my own life decisions.
