Liquefy have a short gig break until August, in the interim they will be working on new material and the Jonster's Nolan sisters obsession. Rest assured there will still be regular blog updates to keep every one in the turbulent loop.

This week we have a Gig Report from the weekends gig and a new Rock Chronicles strip..
Rock Cafe Gig Review
Liquefy had a quiet month, that is until they stepped through the back doors of the Rock Cafe. After a quick stop off in the Gents, to admire the new decor, they entered stage left and set up. But then a number of problems presented themselves. H's guitar was way loud, feedback was raging in the monitors, Brains Bass Speaker had turned into a bar table and, oh yeah, Jonster had no Bass Drum pedal!
No worries, he cobbled together a DIY job from some old tin cans and an egg whisk, A Team style, and they were away. But then they looked up, looked at the time and stunned, they had a pint. It was 9:45pm and the band were almost the only people in the venue, disaster.
Due to hit the stage at 10:30, Liquefy were wondering if the eve of non smoking in pubs was going to prove a wash out. But if you build it, they will come, and come they did. The band started their set as the venue reached half capacity and things were looking up. Songs were churned out in solid tight fashion and the crowd were warming up, fast forward an hour and the crowd was reaching capacity and the buzz was growing.
Minutes to midnight and Liquefy hit full on chug mode and the place was literally jumping. But then disaster! H's voice popped. Some worried looks shot across the bar from the landlord, but H waved play on and requested the crowd help big Al sing the next couple of songs. With a quick change to the set, Liquefy launched into two belting songs which invoked some full on crowd chanting and some truly unique dance floor action, top stuff.
H's voice recovered for the final 15 minutes and the dance floor was becoming as entertaining as the band. But it didn't end there. With the crowd shouting for more Liquefy played on an extra couple of songs and the set ended in floor pounding style. There was a final twist to the tale as J & H sparked up a Cigar to commemorate the last few hours of legally smoking in a pub and the night was closed in style.
Chug and Noodle ratings both hit a high of 4.7, highest of the year yet!

The lads were making preparations for a special event come end of May. As it's a private event, not too many details can be given out at this stage, but needles to say, Liquefy were experimenting with some messed up tunes to provide a twist.
There were some ups, downs and some songs were just plain wrong. A bit of lethargy may have krept in with a slow May in the offing, however, things soon came back on track and and the chug was reborn.

Parsons Crank Valve (dark ale)
Brimiester: This Crank Valve is a superlative beer.
Big Al: This is hidden gem, supping on the parsons crank valve is pure bliss.
Brimiester: Yes, it has a unique aroma, a bit of a kick, but then goes down smooth.

This week we have a gig review of last weeks Swan gig and another in the Rock Chronicles Liquefy comic strip series..
The Swan Gig Review
Liquefy were back in familiar territory. Cracking venue, good crowd, excellent beer and smart acoustics, the evening was set. But for some reason, be it over enthusiasm or pre gig nerves, Liquefy blasted off at break neck speed.
Fortunately the set was tight and the first half ended almost before it began. The crowd reacted with a modicum of approval, but Liquefy needed to pull a blinder out of the back pocket to hit chug mode and really set the night alight.
A few beers, a band meeting and a quick knock of heads saw the second set kick off in mean, lean style. The songs had more polish, played with greater dynamics and the crowd were starting to move.
As the night entered the final quarter, the venue was full to the rafters and buzzing. H & Jonster made a quick pit stop to jiggle the set for some crowd stomping action and the decision was a good one. The band approached the midnight hour with every one dancing and singing and moving to the grooving baby and the shouts for more continued as the lights went up. Top Stuff!

This week sees a brief review of the months gigs and some odd breaking news.
March Gig Reviews
Two gigs this month, starting with the Red Nose Rock special at the Vine. With surprises, debuts and money raised for charity, it was all good stuff. The night started well, with a brief lull after the break. Liquefy debuted some new songs, which went down very well and ended the night with a barn storming 500, fantastic stuff.
The Bridgetown gig coincided with the footy again, so not much to tell. A shout out to the Craddock Crew for injecting some life into the evening. So the month ended on a bit of a whimper, but the new set is coming along nicely and bodes well for the summer run.
Breaking News
Big Al has stunned fans with the announcement of a solo project code named "Sultans of Plink". Al is set to bring his unique combo of Mario and plink sounds to Rock and funky classics such as "Sweet Plink o' Mine", "Play that Plinky music" and "Plinky Plonk Women". If all goes well, he plans to release plinkute albums to such Metal greats as PlinKnot, Judas Plink and Plink 182. Watch this space for more plink news.
Brimiesters Computer News
Bri was taken aback last week when the rest of his Cray computer system was delivered. He had thought the set up was complete, however, an entourage of articulated lorries, with full police escort, arrived to install the rest of the display system, which now consists of a bank of twenty 8foot by 6foot display panels. Being too large for the house, the display units were installed in his back garden. But this has lead to complaints from his neighbours, they cannot distinguish between night and day when the system is turned on as it lights up the entire West Midlands. The final straw came when Bri found a group of naked sun seekers laying in his back garden hoping for a free sun tan from the sheer amount of radiation given off from each panel. Expect to see his computer back on ebay soon!

Short update to promote the Comic relief charity gig this Friday..
Practise review
A song learning night this week, with some new suggestions and ideas being put through the Liquefier. It may all be too early for the next gig, but there might be a surprise or two in the back pocket if all goes well.
Not much else to report other than Brian managed a first in Rock History. He produced the very first Rant Solo to an audience of none. While the rest of the band were busy with the get out, Brian was in Uber rant mode, about who knows what to pants knows who, top stuff!
Breaking news
The Vine Gig this Friday 16th happens to coincide with Red Nose day. Hence, there will be a £2 entry fee going directly to Comic Relief. So come along and support the Charity Chug night!
Brians Computer news
Brian managed to flog off his Deep Blue PC last month and has taken delivery of another computer from Ebay. This time he went for a unique Cray 1 supercomputer. It was delivered by helicopter and installed directly into his Garage. Brian commented that it was a little bigger than expected and his missus is not happy that she now has to park her Fiesta on the street.
Unsurprisingly, Brian is having problems connecting to the net. The required leads are only available from a catalogue last issued in 1978, probably meaning there are none left in existence. But Big Al thinks he can help him there.

So, what were you doing Sunday afternoon? Eating roast beef, watching footy or snoozing on the sofa? Well Liquefy were in full on chug mode at the Red lion..
Gig review
The Red Lion Gig was due to start at 3:30pm, yes, that's mid afternoon, an unheard of time for a Rock gig. That said, Liquefy arrived to a packed to the rafters venue and everyone was in a party mood. Was this some bizarre rock filled wonderland the band had stumbled across?
Liquefy had to step up and shake the timing issue from their minds as the first problem presented itself. The positioning of the drums and PA speakers were spoiling for some unruly feedback. Queue Big Al's charge in to battle, full of twists, turns and mayhem, before the beastly feedback was finally defeated and Liquefy could continue with locked and loaded chug mode.
The afternoon was split into three sets, each stepping another rung up the rock ladder. In between sets, it was the turn of the crowd to source the entertainment. With an impromptu pool cue Bohemian Rhapsody and stand up footy comedy, the afternoon saw jovial spirits all round.
The final set landed home and the place buzzed to the Liquefy chug. The band was in fine form and it was good to hear H's vocals back on track. Top night, I mean, evening, er afternoon!
Pot Noodle rating 4.2: The Red Lion was packed and ready to have a good time, leading to a surprisingly healthy noodle rating.
Chug Rating 4.3: Another high score, but it was a long haul that saw the Liquefy Chugness spreading further than it would normally.
Double D's Real Ale Pick of the Week
Chavers Bulging Baps (sweet pale ale)
Brimiester: Without question, Bulging Baps is a handful of a beer and fully deserves our recommendation this week.
Big Al: Yes indeed Bri, supping on Chavers stunning Bulging Baps is a sensational experience.
Brimiester: Bulging Baps offers a sweet, bountiful taste begging you to caress the glass as you wait for another supp.
Big Al: I agree Bri, you can't beat Bulging Baps to add a bit of spice to your evening!
"For the Last Set, turn it up full"
Land lord
"Can we have that in writing?"
