I gave you the animals; you poached them to endangerment
I carried you for eons; you complained of same-old same-old
I gave you rainbows; you complained that it rained, though
I gave you water; you said it tasted like nothing
That hurt my feelings; I cried; you complained it was flooding
I gave you seven natural wonders; you said, "Why not eight?"
I told you to settle down with a nice girl; you said, "Why not eight?"
But I never stopped loving you, because that's not what mother's do
I just let you do what you do so that I wouldn't smother you
But then, inevitably, thee met she:
Miss Chlorofluorocarbon: CFC
She had an air about her that left my house green
Entered my atmosphere without wiping her feet
As if that weren't enough, she wasn't alone; she rolled with crew
Her cousins: water vapor, nitrous oxide, CO2
Now, water vapor wets the bed; nitrous oxide's always laughing
CO2 ain't got no job; she got laid off from manufacturing

But I can't find my glaciers; could have sworn they were just right there..

I can't say enough for an audience who went from three-and-a-half years of a consistent locale to an alley-entry speakeasy without missing a beat. Well, folks, I'm sure you've heard the rumors. News of Mocha Hut, where Dwayne and I have happily hosted for the last three-and-a-half years, suddenly closing, was as much of a shock to me as to anyone. (And I found out at the same time as you all did!) However abrupt the ending of that relationship was, we appreciate the venue for housing our energy as long as it did.
And now, moving on....
Brother Dale Marcelin of the Universal Capoeira Angola Center (which is in the same block as Mocha Hut) has so graciously reached out and offered his cultural studio (which doubles as his home) to house our beloved "Spit Dat". Same time frame, same day. The main differences are 1) until we possibly develop a relationship with a caterer, there is no food or drink served at this location, 2) seating is very limited, so you might want to bring a throw pillow or something, and 3) we will be charging $1 at the door. Those proceeds will be going directly to the Center in an effort to keep the lights on at this minority-owned business. That was the arrangement that Dale made with me, which I'm sure everyone can understand considering why Mocha Hut closed.
With that said, I see no more appropriate artist to be our first feature at this new location than our own Cordell "Drama" Carter! Youngblood's style is as raw and unpredictable as the adventurous circumstances that we find ourselves in. His purely expressive orations venture between soul, psalm, and poem, and I've continuously been impressed by his experimental candor.
So, like I always say about this time....
