HAPPY NEW YEAR PEOPLE! I have slacked off huge on my journals from the studio, so I haven't had a chance to say that. I suppose a MERRY FUCKING CHRISTMAS is also in order too then, huh? Hope the holidays were well, and everyone got what they wanted for xmas. That sounded fucking retarded but you get the idea. Anyways, the studio. Ahhhh, yes. We've been getting some emails from dudes curious as to why it's taking so long to record this record. Well, what they don't seem to realize about us is that we take our time on things like this. We aren't satisfied unless we have the best guitar sound my speakers can produce, best drum sounds, and so on. And that takes awhile SO BACK OFF! Just kidding. ABOS took over 10 months to record. We are actually writing this one in the studio, so it may not be out until the Fall of this year. But you know we'll hook you up over myspace when we get things closer. So, keep checking back.
We've been having a lot of those 'direction' talks. What direction do we want to take the music in, blah blah blah. Some of the songs that we demoed before we went in weren't necessarily reflective of where we wanted to be as a band. So, a lot of those songs are being picked apart and put back together. A lot of the songs that were strong are being built upon, like the song "Follow" which got a really good response on myspace. And others are being dismantled and reconstructed, like the song 'Killing Me to Live'. What I can say about this from a guitar standpoint is that I'm going to the extreme in both directions. All the way to extreme trash and math metal then all the way across the board to some acoustic stuff. And for those of you who have been following the band for awhile, may remember some talks about an acoustic record. Still may happen, may not. Who's to say. Anyways, enough of my babble. I'll write more tomorrow.
Currently listening to: Opeth 'The Ghost Reveries'. This is one of the bands that should seriously thank Sirius Satellite Radio. That's where I heard them. You gotta be in the mood for it, but if you are, it's perfect.
And for those also curious, my IPOD these days consists of these records:
Lacuna Coil: Karmacode, Comalies
Threat Signal: Under Reprisal
Mnemic: The Audio Injected Soul (yup, still listening to it, it's that good…)
Faith No More: The Real Thing
Korn: Untouchables (not sure why, just kind of felt like it I guess)
In Flames: Soundtrack to your escape
Soulfly: Soulfly
Puya: ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Union
Opeth: The Ghost Reveries
Machine Head: Through the Ashes of Empires
Nothingface: Violence

This is why Paul Sorvino is the shit!!!!
I heard this today and thought it summed what we try and say musically: Only dead fish swim upstream…
Makes sense, doesn't it…
Cheers
