Almost a
year a go the second album of the Swedish band Emerald Park ‘For Tomorrow’ has
been released. Strangely enough the album has not yet been reviewed by
Gothtronic. That’s a shame, cause this music may not be ground breaking, ‘For
Tomorrow’ is absolutely worth listening. Especially fans of bands such as Death
Cab For Cutie, Arcade Fire, Pulp and White Lies may appreciate this album.
Although these five Swedish musicians never reach the extremely high level of
Pulp and Arcade Fire, we can say they made a consistent and enthusiastic album.
An album filled with catchy and not too heavy indie pop songs. Too bad for
Emerald Park we already know this music from Pulp, Editors and Arcade Fire,
otherwise you might call this original. Now Emerald Park can be called a
welcome addition to this genre. And luckily enough they do have enough quality
for that difficult task. Not because every song is a small piece of art, but
songs as ‘The commonfield’ and ‘Lights of Sunday’ got the right to be heard.
Even though they’re released almost a year ago..... Read the review here.

Emerald Park appears on this download compilation with the song "Obscured By Lies". Another version of "Obscured By Lies" was previously released in 2006 on the EP "Open". This one is remixed and edited by Ola Frick. The first version was produced by Carl Granberg.

Hi there, It's been a while since we wrote here. That's because Tobias, Daniel and Mattias have been busy writing songs and Martina is pregnant (the child is to be born late this summer). So in September we hope to present to you a newborn child and some new songs. How about that! Found this in a blog today: "‘Lights of Sunday‘ by Emerald Park
is another fairly acoustic, indie song, which I have been listening to
a bit earlier this year. Again, something to listen to while walking
slowly, at night, to no particular destination. And again, I identify
with it as reflecting how I have felt at times.
He’s tired of himself
I don’t think sleep will help
You’re weary and you sleep
‘Cause you’re tired of yourself
When you’re sorry for yourself
You push your friends away
And when you push your friends away
You feel sorry for yourself "
Thanks to 272 Records "Lights of Sunday" also gets airtime in the US.
It's added it to the new 2 hour Acoustic show
called THE ACOUSTIC LOUNGE, it airs everyday from 5:30am to 7:30am
Pacific Time, so tune in if you'd like to hear Emerald Park on the radio. Smash 679 claim to have a very
dedicated following of listeners and are currently in the top 35
Alternative and top 20 Modern Rock stations on the site and rising
fast. They do close to 1,500 to 2,000 listening hours a month. listen here

Emerald Park For Tomorrow (cd Af Music/Danse Macabre)
Posted on 14 Apr, 2009
More or less 4 years after their debut-cd comes the new full length
from Emerald Park. This Swedish band is a new name and thus a discovery
for me. Their music covers different new-wave grounds without being
totally new wave at all. Theres also a touch of pop running through
their songs. For Tomorrow sounds like the offspring of Prefab Sprout,
Everything But The Girl and even The Cure. The song Pasadena
perfectly stands for this comparison and is without a shadow of a doubt
one of the main pieces of their album. In a more pop-rock style comes
the very efficient Open-cut. The male-female vocal duo on Ume is
also noticeable while the more into ballad style Vrnhem reminds me
vaguely of Simon & Garfunkel. A few songs are also more refined
through the addition of violin parts. That works pretty well on the
Istanbul-song. The only reproach I could make is that several songs
remain a bit too soft, but globally speaking Emerald Park tries to
inject some fresh breeze in the wider fields of pop and wave music.
For Tomorrow is a honest release with some decent songs!

Current mood: focused
Some 6 months after the release of "For Tomorrow" the record is
reviewed in [sic] Magazine in Belgium. This is a review written by an
author that really has listened to the record, probably many times.
Thank you Brett!
"Emerald Park are one of those wonderful, contradictory surprises – a
band that sounds both unique yet familiar. Their incongruous nature is
expanded still further. Emerald Park seem innocent yet knowing, their
songs instant yet memorable and their records lo-fi yet well-produced."
Read the entire review at: http://www.sicmagazine.net/articles/261/emerald-park-for-tomorrow
Next month a previously unreleased song will appear on an Af-Music compilation. It will be free to download. Stay tuned for details about that.
