Last Downrocks work, Beathazard (BHAZ02), was opened with a collaboration from Split DJ, old late 80’s partner that was always an Electro Funk faithful believer. “A Split Hazard”, song inspired by the purest 85 Hip Hop style, remained as one of the self production top favourites of this artist, justifying this sequel with new versions.
“A Split Hazard - Extended” was looking for that vintage sensation listeners use to had when they find out new elements on the extended version. A new piece of vocoder lyrics, few more scratch breaks, new melodies... Split remade the drum programming and everything was mixed again.
Likewise, the CLUB version on the B side, constructed in a more current-conventional way and BPM's raised, repays the work of these two Bboys, adding an extra track with the vocoder acapellas (like it comes being usual in the policy of this label) and some small well designed pieces for scratchers.
Its a must to highlight the work of the engineer DJ Soyez (De Pearls Studio) on the mastering field, where the digital world flows with the best sonic elements of the analog machinery.

Now comes this new record with 5 tracks and a bonus for DJS. Self classified as electro funk, its clear that is heavily influenced by those 80’s monsters like Paul Hardcastle, Pretty Tony,
World Class Wrecking Crew or Egyptian Lover. Side A begins with a song (a Split Hazard) half-made with his old partner Split DJ (Electronautas) that brings great scratches to a phat beat,
dark melodies and "pack jam" style vocoders. All classic elements for pure electro funk. After this there is 2 songs (specie 8472, Genetic H) with faster beats and more modern feeling
clearly influenced by science fiction and fantasy... claiming with this music that Electro is the Science fiction of the music. Side B starts with the song that names the EP, Beathazard,
honouring the label that releases this work. Last song is one of the best productions, Entropia. Retro beats plenty of basses and melodies in a pure old school format. There is a complete
rap history made in Spanish language. This song was made in collaboration with Dark Vektor (Dona-li Records). And last track, the sixth is a 2 minutes hardcore electro beat plus some a
capella vocoders that can come handy for scratchers and live re-mixers.

Tony, World Class Wrecking Crew o Egyptian Lover. La cara A comienza con una canción (A Split Hazard) a medias con Split DJ, su antiguo colega y miembro del colectivo Electronautas,
que ofreció buenos scratches y un ritmo bestia bien mezclado con melodías oscuras y vocoders tipo "Pack Jam". Los clásicos elementos para cocinar Electro Funk puro. Después tenemos
2 canciones (Specie 8472, Genetic H) con ritmos más rápidos y envolventes más modernos influenciados claramente por la ciencia ficción, recordándonos que el Electro es la ciencia
ficción de la música. La cara B comienza con la canción que nombra el EP, Beathazard, honrando el sello que publica el disco. La última canción es una de las mejores producciones,
Entropía. Ritmos retro llenos de bajos y melodías en el más puro estilo old school, que acompañan una historia completa narrada con rap en español. Esta canción esta hecha en
colaboración con Dark Vektor (Dona-Li Records). Y el último corte contiene 2 minutos de un duro ritmo electro junto con alguna a capella de vocoders que pueden resultar útiles para
scratchers y re-mezcladores en vivo.

5 cortes entre los que acompañan a las composiciones de Kapi, un remix de Moockie (Barcelona) y otro de Koa (Barcelona). Este disco fue realizado en 1999 y por varias circunstancias quedó guardado en el armario. Ahora es la primera referencia de Downrocks, el proyecto personal de Kapi, compositor y productor de Barcelona que desde finales de los 80 ha estado envuelto en la escena musical del Hip Hop español. Comenzó como bboy (Breakdance) y escritor de graffiti, elementos que influencian claramente sus composiciones. Pasó por escenarios como MC de rap con los grupos Underrap (1988-1991) y RS232 (1991-1995) mientras se dedicaba a las producciones de estos mismos y de otros como Psicohiphopatas y Jauría (La Trama). También participó en el nacimiento de la escena discográfica del Electro español publicando canciones en los primeros discos del género, como el recopilatorio Elektrodomésticos (1998) y los primeros maxis de la firma Headspin-Tu Pierdes como NRG Beats de Zeta, Rock It! de Khosmaker o Beat It! de Moockie.

La definición del sonido Electro es algo complicada hoy en día como ocurre con la mayoria de definiciones musicales, pero podríamos decir que el Electro de Downrocks está influenciado por el sonido de los 80, el Electro que nació de las máquinas de Kraftwerk y dió paso a un genero musical que hoy en dia se considera parte e historia del primer Hip Hop. Kapi trata de conservar esta esencia, tanto la de los Alemanes Kraftwerk, como la de los primeros sonidos de la costa este (NY, Miami) y por supuesto el alma de la ciudad dónde este sonido tuvo su gran Boom, Los Angeles.

This record was done in 1999 and because some circumstances was file till now, being the first reference of Downrocks, the personal project from Kapi, composer and producer from Barcelona. He was involved with the spanish Hip Hop music scene from 80s. He started as a bboy (Breakdance) and as a graffiti writer, both elements that clearly influence his compositions. He was on stages as rap MC with bands like Underrap (1988-1991) and RS232 (1991-1995) while he also produced the music from those and other rap crews like Psicohiphopatas and Jauría (La Trama). Also was involved with the born of the Electro music scene in Spain publishing songs on the first records about, like the compilation Elektrodomésticos (1998) and the first maxi-singles from the label Headspin-Tu Pierdes like NRG Beats from Zeta, Rock It! from Khosmaker or Beat It! from Moockie.

Definition of Electro sound is hard to explain nowadays like happens with the most of the musical definitions, but we can say that Downrocks Electro is influenced by the sound of 80s, the Electro that was born from the machines of Kraftwerk and step to a new music genre that today can be consider part of the history of Hip Hop. Kapi is trying to keep this essences, the one from the german crew Kraftwerk, the one from the first sound at the east coast (NY, Miami) and of course the soul of the city where this sound had the big Boom, Los Angeles.
