Friday November 20, Ruddy Virgo held his monthly musical session. The special guest this month was Tippertone with the legendary sound man Jah Wise. The music once again was a lesson in the history of roots music. Anybody who has heard Jah Wise play tunes knows that he can bring it from any direction. But believe it or not, he is very proud of his soul collection as he is of his Reggae collection. I have had the opportunity to hear him rinse out an assortment of soul tunes. He started his set with all guns blazing and never looked back. I have known Jah Wise for quite a few years and I know once he gets on the turntables, you literally have to pry him away from them. We had the chance to talk last night and knock back some drinks. Trust me, once he has beaten back one or two juice......he becomes musically possessed. His second set featured some Studio One instrumentals and tunes that had to come from deep within his box. It's always a pleasure to hear and see this Reggae historian perform. Bigga Mention, as usual, held up his end of the bargain. When it is very easy to be intimated when playing alongside legendary sound men, Bigga mention handles it with ease. He continually plays tunes that rattles the brain. The strange thing is there were tunes that I was thinking of while at the dance, and as if he read my mind, he played those tunes. Even though he rinses out the roots tunes, he easily ran thru some rocksteady tunes. I am more of a Rocksteady man myself, so I always appreciate when I get to hear them. He rinsed out a selection of tunes off the Moodies label, and rounded out the session with some shots by Horace Andy. I heard so many tunes I thought the dance was coming to a close. I said my goodbyes and headed thru the door to beat the exiting crowd. Halfway thru my trip home I looked at my car clock and realized it was only 3:30. The dance was ending at 5:00. I was at the dance for only 3 hours and heard so many tunes I thought 5 hours had passed. But good music will make the best of us lose track of time. I have to get a digital watch because I can't see shit in the dark. Downbeat the Ruler was present at the dance and he will be the special guest at next month's affair. When it comes to tunes, in my opinion, nobody has a deeper box than Downbeat. I will be there front and center that that event. You should be also!!!

Next dance get nice again october 30th.. What i love about our event is how deep we go with the music..here the selectors play tunes you wont hear anywhere else..yes!!.. they dare to play it!!... We stick to the foundation, originals reggae tunes ONLY..no computers or cds... the music is played on strickly VINYLS, giving the music a unique sound we dont really hear anymore:-)))

Dance get nice again coming up saturday march 21st. This is an all vinyl vintage reggae event with nothing but reggae music from the 70s and 80s...ORIGINALS only.We taking it back to the roots of all new tunes u hear out there!which makes our event very educational. From JA to UK to BK. Our movement is nothing but culture bringing people together through music.
All of this is going to be taking place at the EASTRIVERBAR on 97 south 6st between bedford and berry in williamsburg brooklyn.Take the j train to marcy av. U can also take the L train to bedford and walk south until u reach south 6th st.
