Bombs Over Brampton

Nine One One, the twin towers went down.

Today, bombs drop in Kabul.

The weapons of mass destruction were never found.

Bombs still drop in Iraq.

Seventeen Canadians supposedly planned a terrorist attack.

I wonder if theyll drop bombs in Brampton?

They say that silent rivers run deep,

And its the calm and silent waters

That we often drown in;

That polite Canadian racism,

That often pushes people to the margins of society;

And this is what happens,

When people are forced to live on the fringes.

This is what happens when multiculturalism

is just a word; just a theory,

nothing practiced; just something that sounds good.

This is what happens when the school system

Teaches children of colour

How to be good White kids.

This, is a cry for help,

And unlike the Black youth

who rebel by killing themselves,

They want to fight back!

They want you to take notice

of the person who has walked beside you every day of your life,

That you have never seen;

I am Canadian,

But how many times have I been asked where Im from,

As though I dont belong here,

But if my memory is clear,

It would appear that youre an immigrant too;

And even though the history books are skewed,

I know that white folks left wherever they were

And came to North America,

Where they met the Natives,

Who welcomed them with open arms saying,

We werent expecting you,

To which they heard,

Dont worry, weve got reservations.

Then without hesitation,

The Natives were killed off,

Slaves were dropped off;

Blacks were put on plantations,

Then Segregation,

Then integration,

then immigration,

to build up our nation.

So, when you want us to go back to where we came from,

Youve obviously got a lot of nerve;

And wouldnt it be something

If when you went home

And pulled up at your curb,

There were some Natives

Who lef t the reserve

Doing a survey,

Asking you, where are you from.

No, I mean, where are you really from.

You see, we open the border to immigrants,

Then make it hard for them to live,

With that frustration

Being passed on to another generation

Of hyphenated Canadians,

Trapped in low income

Concentration camps.

One persons heaven,

can be anothers hell;

and what does it say

when young Canadians are willing to give their lives

for a plight,

that we dont understand,

but deem to not be right.

These are not terrorists!

These are the Canadian victims

Of a system that devalues them

To the point,

that they are willing to take their lives,

and that of others, just so we can get the point.

On Nine One One, the twin towers went down.

Theyre, still dropping bombs in Afghanistan.

The weapons of mass destruction have never been found.

But theyre still dropping bombs in Iraq.

Seventeen Canadians supposedly planned a terrorist attack.

I wonder if theyll drop bombs in Brampton?
