As you may have noticed, someone hacked into Dallinmusic.com  and erased all of the beautiful work Dan Tirer put together so that you could buy the album from there, donate, or if you received a card, download the Ep for free.

SO, if you did receive a card and haven't downloaded your free album yet, please send an email to DallinFreeMusic@gmail.com">DallinFreeMusic@gmail.com and tell me your name and the code on the card.

For those trying to purchase the EP, please buy it from iTunes.

For those who already purchased the EP, THANK YOU!!!!

A lot of you have asked me what songs mean or even what the hell I'm saying in most of the tunes from the EP. So here you have it- lyrics!!

-----------
Adhesive
-----------
When the conditioning is done
You will be a new body
Better fit for enmity
Clear the stakes and watch him fall
You can see him better when you see him fall
So live and let die

When the conditioning is done
You will be a new brain
Better fit for aeroplanes
Pick the kids and play the game
When you're shot there is no shame
'Cause your the best they've got
And they don't need you anymore
They don't need you anymore

Break inside,
You can't hide
Even in the best you've tried
Fingerprints, put on file
Watch you in your
Break inside,
You don't hide
You haven't got a place to go
So make your list to reconcile
Even though its been awhile

Since you've past the gate keeper
and its been so long since I've seen one of those American Dreamers

If you stay,
learn to fight
Careful not to lose your mind
I am just assembly line
Waiting for more confines
I am told what to write
"Keep it loose keep it fucking tight"
Eat your cake, buy your lie,
Don't think I don't regret that I don't try

To get past the gate keeper
And its been so long since I've seen one of those
American Dreamers
Lay down where you meet her

(When the conditioning is)
When the conditioning is done
You will be a new body
Better fit for enmity
You will be a new body-

When the conditioning is done
You will be a new brain
You will be

Fear this in your bones
Got it your blood
Fear this in your bones

They don't they don't
They don't need you anymore

Dirty English
-----------
Your baby kissed me in the hall last night
Then carved another tattoo on his chest
I knew before we fed each other lies
That I would not be eating all the best
Still-

I can't look away
Though I know he's not real
I was not in love at all
Just in love with the idea

Your dirty words are the bait, your a fish
So you cling to those who make you wanna slit your wrists
And you aren't art just 'cause you seem emotionless
But apparently I'm still I'm still conned into thinking this
Its a punch through the ribs to the heart
To know I'm not missed when I'm gone
or to be unsure: how far under his skin did I dwell?
Or was I out as quickly as I came in?
I've been tracing the lines over and over and over again
I've been scrubbin his pestering soul from my skin
I've been working on lines I keep on engraving in
I've been scrubbin his pestering soul from my skin
Still-

I can't look away
Though I know he's not real
I was not in love at all
Just in love with the idea
(Just in love)
Just in love with the idea

Your baby kissed me in the hall last night
Your baby kissed me in the hall last night
Your baby kissed me in the hall
Your baby kissed me in the hall

Your model kissed me in the hall
Your billboard  kissed me in the hall
Your poster kissed me in the hall
Your photo kissed me in the hall
Your magazine kissed me in the hall
Your photo kissed me-
It tasted like paper.

J And The Reminder of Who I'm Not
-----------

Six years in your dry spell closed shell hell
You saw nothin but a girl that fell
Oh well!
I'm crazy
Two years in a peace without a show-n-tell, love bell
The things I had once felt, now hazy

If you hadn't been so blind, I would have held my (pride)
Six years later it was safe to say I had nothing hide

It's not who I am
It's not who I'm not
There's still one stupid truth
I'm here I'm here I'm not here
"Got no time for your reputation"

"Oh girl- you got just a little guilt on your lips
Oh girl- you love your man so get a fucking grip"
And you don't even want him you just want him to want no one else
Welcome to the pressure that keeps dirt on the shelves!
You won't do a fuckin thing so don't ask for help
He's just a reminder you hate being yourself

It's not who I am
It's not who I'm not
There's still one stupid truth
I'm here I'm here I'm not here
No regret child, just damns,
Your good friends and family
Wavin' their arms "Go! Go! Go! Shit! Come down now!
Got no time for your reputation"

If you hadn't been so blind,
I would have held my (pride)

It's not who I am
It's not who I am
It's not who I'm not
But there's still one stupid truth
I'm here I'm here I'm not here
No regret child, just damns,
Your good friends and family
Wavin' their arms "Go! Go! Go! Shit! Come down now!
Got no time for your reputation"

-----------
Hypochondria
-----------

i will be bones
i will be empty
so they can see right through the skin
then slowly let me in
something won't let me...

i tried to cut myself on them
but they're so friendly
i wanna look like the foam on their lips
after they scream and kiss and lick
but something prevents me...

i, dont, really have it this bad, see i'm feelin sorry for myself
i, speak in excuses so watch me,
and let me catch myself in  lies

i wont be bones
i will be civil
i'll unlock the bathroom door
won't rid the system

another waiting room
oh you know, she will notice soon
(my fitting clothes)
so just tell me my size

now she weighs me with her eyes
she knows i'm gathered on this lie
her grip is thick upon my thigh
"i want your disease... do you want mine...?"

i, don't, really have it this bad, see i'm, feelin sorry for myself
i, speak in excuses and
watch me
and let me catch myself and make it all up til it's gone

it feels much better to refund my senses
zeros or sanity for wreckless defenses
i know it seems rusted but even the Press carry wrenches
i know i've said no more lies but i hadn't meant it...

i don't
ooooh, no i hadn't meant it
i don't
no i don't

so i will be bones
i will be empty
i will be bones

Fortune Cookie
-----------

We are a lone
The fear becomes the drone
The seed can find it's home
Where it has no room to grow

Then we are alone
our fear answers to toes
our memory to the known
We're fooled to thinking they are sepearte things

Alone

We are alone
Our fortunes stiff as stone
Our hearts as stiff as bone
We don't see how we were meant to be

And we are alone
So say you're gonna be there
And feel with your eyes closed

We are not alone

Alone

The title says it all. I forget my own lyrics sometimes so I posted these songs just in case I forget on the 29th.

A lot of people have also been asking about lyrics. The lyrics should be posted for every song on here by the end of the day hopefully.

Enjoy and stay tuned for other updates.

So hopefully you've noticed that the EP release party has been booked for July 29th, 2009 at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City. I'm really excited as this will be the first time I've played a show of my own music with a full band since the days of Funky Butter about two years ago. Speaking of Funky Butter- Dan Tirer will be on guitar, Justin Goldner on bass and Kate Ferber on backup vocals. Mike Riddleberger from Quintus/Krystle Warren band and Liz Hanley from Emanuel And The Fear will also be joining on drums and violin (respectively).

I wanted to announce the second part which is that all that attend will be able to download a free copy of the Fortune Cookie EP when they get home that evening. I am hoping this will encourage you to come hang that night and of course, to spread the word. If you can't make it to the party or you're not from New York, no worries, the EP will be on iTunes around that time as well.

So, see you July 29th! And the tunes will be posted on myspace hopefully by the end of the week.

So after 75 shows, about 35 states and 4200 McDonalds that we somehow managed to avoid- the Rstar/David Cook tour has sadly come to an end. I can proudly say that this has been the best experience of my life. I've met some great friends and musicians and got the opportunity to play in front really amazing and dedicated fans. Really- you guys have all been super supportive and none this could have happen without you. So, THANK YOU.

I'll be playing around with several bands including my own in New York City for the month of July, then we're back on the road with Collective Soul and Safety Suit for August and September. Check my myspace for tour dates and please please keep in touch!

In the meantime, check out this video of us air guitaring to BarBaSol on the last night of the tour in Baton Rouge-

Actually, its not that bad when you get to stop at a mini oasis for an overnight or two.

Our journey began on a rainy evening  where we played the ??? theatre in Newark, Ohio. It happened to be Artie's birthday the day before, so David Cook called him on stage during his set. David had the audience sing happy birthday to Artie when Ryan snuck on stage and smashed a birthday cake in Artie's face. The cake got everywhere and of course, there were no showers at the venue, so our Artie was stuck with the buttercream smell for the next 27 hours.

After the show we all piled in the van and embarked on our 27 hour route to Corpus Christi Texas. I slept on two suitcases wedged between the back bench and middle bench, and when that became unbearable I took the floor. Our brave drivers took shifts sleeping upright and driving 8+ hour shifts. We allotted one break for food in Austin, Texas where we frantically searched for the most convenient but delicious tex mex we could find. The whole journey reminded me of Oregon Trails - hunting for food, trying to avoid death by exhaustion, luckily no one got snakebites or dysentery.

We arrived in Corpus Christi at 2am the next night, (or day?) and were privileged to stay in a beautiful hotel right on the water. The next day we woke up and drove to the beach where we were playing. The stage was literally on the beach with no cover over the stage. People sat on their beach towels in their bikinis eating hamburgers and drinking beers while we set up and sound-checked. We were able to meet Safety Suit, Kate Vogel, Saving Jane and Erin McCarly- all very cool folks who played very cool music. After rocking out, we were able to hang and drink some beers on the beach while the rest of the bands played.

Sadly, our mini vacation ended and we got back in the van. Ryan headed to North Carolina to play with David and the rest of us started back towards New York City.

So that's where we are now- in a van, only this time I get my own bench!! It's the little things.

Hello again my friends.

I am writing to you from Rolla, Missouri where we just played a show in a pretty cool theatre here at the school. This week has been fun- we got to play David's hometown of Kansas City, and Andy and Neal's hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Very fun gigs!

Just wanted to post a quick blog here tonight to let everyone know I put a song called Elliott up. It's a demo but let me know what you think! Daniel Tirer is on guitar and David Dawda is on bass.

More to come...

Sunday, April 05, 2009

Hello hello. My apologies for the absence of this blog for the past few weeks. I'd like to say I was too busy but quite honestly I just got lazy.

I'll start where I can remember- not that I'm losing my memory but living in a van and having no real weekends sort of warps time and space. There's day and night- and we know this because its light out or dark out- but other than that there's no real source of continunity. I turn to our tour manager and my cell phone when I need to know a location or time.

Anyway, Atlantic City was so much fun. From the moment we stepped out of the van we knew it was going to be a fantastic show. The help was professional, we had a beautiful hotel room in the casino, and the sound was damn near impeccable thanks to our new sound guy, Void. After the first night we hung in one of the bars with David Cook's crew. Gotta admit- I like cutting lines by simply showing a pass. I would probablly be a horrible cop (if I ever had to be one)- I'd totally take advantage of my cop car siren just to get ahead of traffic. The second night at the Borgata was just as much fun as the first. It was good to see a lot of the family and friends that spent the weekend with us.

We then traveled to Sellinsgrove PA, York PA, Buis Creek North Carolina, Pemberton New Jersey, back down to Williamsburg Virginia, then had a few days off at home while David went to see his family. This week we played to 4000 people at the Azalea festival in Wilmington, North Carolina. That was definitely a fun show. One of David's famed lighting guys, Terry Fantastic, opened up our set with a flute solo. Hopefully videos will be posted soon. :)

From there we traveled back up to Towson where the stage was too small for us to play a full show, so we played a more acoustic show with the band. It was cool to have a change of pace. Last night, Ryan played a solo show at Bucknell University and tonight we'll be back up with the full rock band.

So we're down south and out west from here on out... so for all of you north easters'- see you in May!

In the van now. Just spent a lovely night at my parents home outside Philly, and now we're headed towards Atlantic City to play the Borgata.

Tuesday night we headlined the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. It was great to play a long set and see some old friends and fans. We played a few songs from Ryan's new 11:59 album and we were also able to squeeze in a few from Eye of an Elephant. We played Concrete Blonde's version of the Leonard Cohen song "Everybody Knows". Ryan did a few acoustic songs, then we came back and encored with 11:59 and Back Of Your Car.

Of course, it was St Patricks Day so the band celebrated afterwards in the Lower East Side. There was whiskey, dancing and Irish Car Bombs. And Artie screamed a lot.

Wednesday was our day off, and Dan and I were able to watch Lost at a friend's place in Brooklyn. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet- but if anyone knows of a good online Lost timeline let me know. I need diagrams!

Yesterday we played Mansfield University somewhere in Pennsylvania. Somewhere in the middle of our set, a stuffed cow appeared on stage. Somewhere in the middle of Last Train Home this cow started stealing the show (I mean, it was pretty fucking funny - there was a giant cow on stage during the middle of an intense rock song). By the time we were playing Back Of Your Car Ryan had his revenge on the cow... he took it on stage and gave it a good beating.

Thats all for now, I'll check back in after AC.

Today is the second Friday the 13th of this tour. We've officially been on the road for a month. And its been about a two weeks since I last blogged- my apologies! Since then I'm not even sure where we've been- West Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, upstate New York... here are some of the highlights. They may or may not be in chronological order.

We played Newbourgh, NY at a very beautiful college 2 hours north of the city. Great show, and for the first time, great pizza after the show. It took us about 5 hours to get back to Artie's house on Long Island mainly because of a white out blizzard.

We played CB Post on Long Island. Bruce Springstien's guitar player Steve ?? was in the audience and told Ryan he liked our set.

Artie got sick- really sick. He still played shows.

We played Dickinson college in PA. I'm pretty sure I had a piano contest there when I was younger. We met a girl who's family started Yagermesiter alcohol but had never tried the stuff herself.

We played in Saratoga Springs at an FYE corporate meeting. It could have been a disaster- these people buy and sell music to one of the only CD stores still alive. They see and hear music for a living. Fortunately we rocked it. Ryan stood up on a table. Ryan jumped off a table.

I got sick. Really really sick- 103 fever to be exact. I stayed in New York while the band drove down to West Virginia. I met the band in Glassboro, NJ the next night, only to find out the PA system wasn't working properly and Ryan would have to play an acoustic set. The band left and stayed at my parents house in Philly. Had some good sleep and good food, then we left for Connecticut.

Tuesday we played Good Day New York on Fox 5. Apparently it aired at 8:45 on Wednesday morning but I haven't seen it yet.

Tuesday we played Poughkepsie and Wednesday we played Brockport. Both were really cool venues although I preferred Brockport because it was standing room only, and thats always fun.

Yesterday we had a day off and had a chance to rehearse at Jonny Resnick (Goo Goo Doll's) studio in Buffalo. The place was gorgeous- an all wood live room and a control room with every vintage and new compressor, EQ and pres that you can imagine. Basically a techy's dream. Artie was excited. (I may have been a little bit excited too).

Later that night we met David Cook and his crew in Buffalo at the restaurant that claimed to have the first Buffalo wings in the world. Well they might have been the first to invent them but they certainly were not the best.

Today was a Walmart and Guitar Center chores day. We are now en route to Elkins, West Virginia. Talk to you all soon.
