Prologue

Boys are trouble, maybe more than girls.

Aimsle was ecstatic with her new brown "Lulu Venton" swimsuit sitting before her. She had waited six months for this moment and it was finally here! Wouldn't she look super fab in her new suit. It was fine imported fabric and was studded in a tiny zirconia diamonds, making it shimmer like the real stuff. Although it had cost her probably the equivalent of one real minute diamond on her clothing and her whole summer slaving away at " Dawn's Drugstore' it didn't matter, so long as Rave noticed.

Ever since I moved to Loliber Valley and was given a grand tour of the relatively small town, I knew I was in love with Ray. He has had the most luschious green eyes, almost as green and fresh as the island leaves I grew up with in the Carribean. His skin was soft like satin and hairs that were twisted all over the place like a typhoon had hit it, but it was magical.

When I first met him, he had shocking hair of black and very punk styled clothing, he was the town's best wakeboarder on the western hemisphere. So everyone thought, so did I. I'm his number one fan, he just doesn't know it yet. When he introduced himself he said his name was "Rave". When we stopped by the "Ship Wreck", which was an offside island bar Lucas who is Ray's, I mean, Rave's dad gave away his real name. I giggled that day, and Ray said he liked my giggle. I knew I was going to like it here.

Running her hand over the fine material one more time, she shook in her giddiness, knocking the white box that it had come in. A yellow ticket in the folds and creases of the thin sparkly tissue paper. She picked up and read the fancy cursive letters written in a silver ink. "Touch the Skies." Aimsle cocked her eyebrow in amazement, it was her favourite phrase, at least now it was. She pocketed it when she heard her mother calling for her. She packed away her suit quickly and shoved it in her closet, running to glance quickly at the vanity and check if her mass of chestnut curls at least look presentable. Applying a cover of foundation she found herself satisfied and tore down the oak stairs of her backsplit home.

In the neat little cozy kitchen sat her mother, with her pink princess bathrobe and fuzzy slippers sipping away on a good cup of French Vanilla java. My mom is one of those typical single mothers. Move all over cause your avoiding those abusive boyfriends. So far she hadn't run into anyone of that sort in Loliber Valley. To my surprise, Lucas I mean, Mr. Reynolds (Ray's dad) came from the first floor room. My mom's room. I waved him a hello and plopped myself down on a chair.

Swinging my arm slip my hands around my "favourite" whole-wheat cereal diet thing I poured myself a bowl and healthy amount of milk. Taking in a crunch, I clicked on the t.v with the converter. I was checking the 5 day forecast on the weather. "Ohh clear skies and steady winds!" I said chipperly, looking at Mr. Reynolds. " Hey, do you think Rave would be out on Phoenix?" Phoenix was what Ray called his wakeboard, because his mother before she died 5 years ago in a car accident said that Ray should colour it that way. All the flame colours to go with his bold, daring personality. Ray's mom's maiden name before she married Lucas was Raven, it was how Ray picked up his nick name as Rave.

Lucas shrugged and gave me his best fake "californian dude" smiled today and nodded. "If he's not already hanging out with Chris today." He replied before he started to canoodle with my mom. I thought it was cute. Just not when I was watching them, kinda made me want to hurl, but then again, Ray and I really looked like our parents. With the pale skin, dark hair mode going for father and son, and the whole long curls and copper-toned skin for mother and daughter it kind of reminded of what Ray and I would be like. Snapping back to reality, I smiled politely, feeling myself grit my teeth, I left the kitchen with my bowl of cereal and ran upstairs back to my room. I set my bowl down and stepped on the scale all covered in shiny stickers. The weighing scale read 118.

It had been 3 weeks since I've started this all-wheat diet, and I still haven't lost more than 2 pounds. At 15 this was an okay weight, so my doctor told me, but I didn't believe it. I needed to be lighter. Ray weighd in around 110 and he ate all he wanted, age 16 and still managing to look pretty good for a guy who only ever did wake boarding!

Stepping off the scale, I bit my lower lip and looked at myself in the full length mirror. I wasn't fat, and I wasn't skinny either. Though I could have looked a little more toned and lean, like Rihanna or Beyoncé. Aimsle looked to the left of her mirror and stared at her idols. Rihanna was just like her, an island girl with natural tanned skin and to match Aimsle had a pretty good voice. Then there came the second best idol in the world. Beyoncé Knowles. How I adored her! She was strong, independent, beautiful and had a popular boyfriend, with money!

I couldn't help but not want to squirm in just the thoughts of these amazing women, but having just lain down with a bowl full of milk sitting atop on my belly, I decided against it. So instead I sat up, slurped my milk, and went downstairs again, this time grabbing my new birthday present off the counter of my vanity. My camera. It was time to save memories, the first one of Paulette and Lucas sitting at the table. I snapped a photo like a hungry shutterbug, and left out the back door, grabbing my messanger bag as I tossed the cereal bowl in the sink, wishing that there had been sugar in it. Because today I needed all the carbs I could manage, I would be trying to keep up with Ray today on the waves, and if anything it would be like the sugars floating around, swirling on their backs.

Hey Folks!

This is what's up in Cole's Space:

The first edition of many to come.

It's the story of young love at the finest point with just seedling romance of Aimsle Tennor, with her mother the traveling artist (metal/abstract artist; seeing as Aurora hates it that artists are automatically thought of as painters. Come to think of it, Aurora's a bit of a painter ...anyways)Aimsle never skipped a beat in her life for interesting, just her childhood. Here she comes to Loliber Valley, a pretty upbeat down South kind of place where she thinks she can actually have a childhood, or NOT!

She could actually grow up, and date the most amazing guy on this side of the island, Raymos "Rave" Reynolds. The up and coming wake boarder, that is to die for. Dashing good looks and amazing talent, Aimsle has competition! A certainly little Miss Thing from France named Allée, yes folks, as in the French verb, to go, in past tense. So she went! Is after Ray too. As summer wraps up and school begins... the days at the beach are ever more valuable!
