Wednesday, July 22, 2009
We are pleased to announce two new additions to the G.Dogs lineup.  Our good friends Dave Dalrymple (bass) and James Roberston (guitar) have recently accompanied Dave, Taylor and myself on a eastern USA tour.  These first shows with the new unit were fun and furious.  Many laughs, one liners, questionable noises, and sing-alongs were shared on the journey. We had the good fortune of visiting some beautiful places and were treated graciously by our friends James and Heloise from 'Heloise and the Savoire Faire' in Vermont.  We played our first show in Burlington, VT alongside Sweet Ass Pussy and PooLoop.  That's right, PooLoop.  Think about it for awhile and it will blow your mind! Then we were drawn into the crazy machine of New York City.   The show itself was great (and seeing old friends), but after relaxing on acres of lush farmland in the green mountain state, the crazy volumes of New York can be a bit intimidating. But never fear!   The beach town of Rowayton, CT is only an hour away.  The show was right on the beach and we played to the setting sun and salty air.  Quite a treat after hours in a stale, air condition-less van.  Thanks to Brendan for giving us such classy treatment. He's as good as it gets. Also thanks to Christian, Joe, and the people of the town for their enthusiam and support.
Brendan's 101 is the place to go in Rowayton, but don't tell anyone....it's a secret.

In other news, Our next show is Wednesday July 29 at the Dakota with our good friends Zeus.  I'm sure you've all heard about them by now....the doors are at 9pm and i would get there early. If you don't live in Toronto, I don't know if I'd recommend coming unless you are there by 9pm.   The Dakota tends to fill up fast and then you'll have to wait in a line up.  And that would suck big time and then we'd feel very very bad.

Thanks for all the messages and emails everyone.  We appreciate your continued support.  I know it's been a long time since we've released any new material, but we're making sure it's the best we can possibly do...it will be out before you know it!

See you soon. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

This Monday, we'll be featured on a program called 'The Alt. Sessions' on AUX TV.   The show was taped at the studio where we are currently recording our next album.  Our friends Zeus were there to take part and also to film their own segment.  (I believe the segments will be run back-to-back).  We performed two songs in "stripped down" versions which will be aired and you'll see some talky talky stuff too....
It was a fun day all around.  If you'd like to see it, here's the deets:

Monday April 13
9-11pm
Rogers CH 322 / Bell CH 530 / COGECO CH 123 / ACCESS CH 157

or watch it online at AUX.TV the next day.

Enjoy!

Hey everyone
First off, we wanted to thank everyone who came out to support The Golden Dogs and Zeus in February at the Dakota.  It was the first residency for both bands and probably not the last.  The place was jammed every week and energy was flowing like $6 dollar draft.   We had a great time trying out the new songs for you.  Thanks also to Major Grange, Bahamas and Peter Elkas who opened the shows.  You were all wonderful and awesome.

In a couple of weeks, we'll be heading back to SXSW for our fourth year in a row.  Not quite sure how we managed that, but we're not complaining.   We have quite the load of shows this year and we can't wait to check out some great bands this year.  If you find yourself in Austin, come check us out.  try the BBQ - it's delicious.

We're still plugging away at our album with our good friends Zeus at their studio in Toronto.   Thanks to everyone for their patience - I know it's been awhile since we've released some new material, but I promise you it will be worth the wait.  We're taking our time and making sure that it's our best album yet.   There will be lots to digest and lots of little bitties to keep you entertained listen after listen....

Take care for now and we'll see you all soon!

A quick little update here.  This past couple of weeks we've been helping our friends Zeus mix their upcoming album. It sounds like the gods of thunder.  Release date for 'Something Awesome' by Zeus soon to be announced.

The fellows of Zeus are also helping us record our new album at their headquarters on Mount Olympus.  The tracks are sounding big and wonderful. We're all excited about the music making it's way to recorded history.   Updates, pics and videos to come soon....computer problems are making the task next to impossible, so it will come as soon as possible.

Most importantly, for all of you who want a taste of the new G.Dogs music, the Dakota tavern in February is the place to be.  The occassion is 'Gods, Dogs & Firelogs' and will feature The Golden Dogs and Zeus every Wednesday in February playing tracks from the new albums of the future.  No advance tickets available, but it's a mere $5 at the door.   Come and be merry.

Take care for now. Brave the storm and we'll see you soon.

Hello friends
This update is long overdue, and believe me, we tried to get it to you a long time ago.  Our myspace page was rendered helpless for the last few weeks, and now the glitch has been fixed....soooo:

Unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control, our part in the Electric Six tour currently underway in the USA has been cancelled. The tour is still going, we just won't be there. We encourage you to go out to see the shows regardless of our absence.  We love those guys and wish we could have taken part in the adventure.

We want to thank everyone who came out to see us at our recent Canadian shows and USA shows with Sloan. This thanks is long overdue.  Your support is much appreciated.   We thank Sloan whole-heartedly for letting us tag along and treating us so graciously.  Them is good people.

Our show in Toronto on Oct.15 marked the last show that we will play this year.  It's been two years of touring, and it's been a satisfying run. Now, you ask, what is next for the Golden Dogs? Well, we hibernate and make an album.  Plain and simple.  We've been looking forward to this for a long time.  You may not hear from us for a little while, but, you know, [insert 'calm before the storm' metaphor here].

We'll be back in action next spring.  Keep yer ears to the ground.

Sincerely,
The Golden Dogs

We've been back for a few days and, after a some rest and relaxation, i figured I'd let you all know how it went.

Well, it was awesome. I have to say first off that Feist deserves every bit of success that has come her way. She and her crew treated us so graciously and made us feel like a part of the team at all times. It was a great experience all around.

First of all, it was our first time playing on the west coast. we've finally seen it all North America. And we dig it man. Our first show was in Denver, Colorado (the mile high city). After an adjustment to the altitude (which included a couple nose bleeds and chugging gallons of water), we played a kick ass show at the Filmore. Just looking at the wall of fame alone and seeing all the bands that played there made us feel a little swell of pride. It was my first time seeing Feist whole set, and it really blew me away. Moment after moment was bang on. Her and the band sounded incredible. the lighting and the "shadow puppetry" was beautifully done. A real classy act.

Park City @ Deer Park Valley was an insane visual feast. It's a ski resort ( a very chic one) - the stage was at the bottom of a ski run. We took a chairlift ride up to the top and the view was breathtaking. Vista upon vista upon vista. We had a fun show. Although, when the sun set and Feist's set was in full swing, it turned into a magical evening. Feist brough us onstage for Sealion Woman, which became a tradition every night. It was one of my favourite moments of the show. As the night wound down, everyone was outside waiting for the moon to rise out from behind the mountains. Singalongs & moonshine. An unforgetable evening.

Berkeley @ The Greek Theatre was off the wall for us. It was definitely the biggest audience we've played to. 8500 people. Very intimidating, but exhilarating all the same. It's weird how the wall of people farthest away from you start to look like a backdrop after awhile. They're so far away that you can't even see them move. I had a real fun time that day. Our video director, Arno Salters and his wife Wendy came to the show. It was his first time seeing the Golden Dogs live. We're so happy that was the show because he used to live in San Fran.

Los Angeles - Hollywood Bowl....okay, we didn't play that show with Feist, but we were there and she called us on stage for Sealion again and introduced us to everyone there. That was a completely insane. Couldn't even digest it. The Beatles played there dude! Jeez.

San Diego - This was the last night of Feist's 18-month tour. San Diego was hot and beautiful. We had a strange, but fun show. It's sort of weird playing in a resort-type venue, in the daylight with to a seated audiencewho has no idea who you are. I think we held our own and won them over by the end. Feist slayed 'em. I had a particularly awesome time watching her set that night. You could listen to her sing for hours, and the sound & shadow pupperty seemed to be extra sweet that night.

And then the tour ended and we had to drive four days to get home from California. I actually didn't really mind. I could drive for days if the weather's nice and the scenery is good. Arizona was particularly beautiful. Nevada was a bit creepy and extremely thick and steamy, but I dug the surroundings. We drove down the Las Vegas strip which was ultimately surreal. Are we in the desert? Utah was neverending, but stunning. Colorado was the same as Utah for the most part...all sort of started blending together at that point... Nebraska, to be honest, I could do without...too many uptight people, cops, drug check points and bad bumper stickers for my liking. Illinois started whetting my home appetite. Michigan basically felt like home, then four days later, we were home. A very nice ride. A lot thinking and good conversation. We only listened to two albums in the whole four days. That was a bit strange for us, but obviously, a much needed requirement.

I don't know what more I can tell you folks. There are some pictures of the tour if you want to take a look. Unfortunately, we've been into taking 'mind pictures' these days. Which usually means our camera was left somewhere and we were too lazy to get it. Sorry.! Next time....

Thanks for reading everyone!
