Okay, so this is kind of a two in one.

The first is to announce the launch of Inside NXNE: tips on bands, shows, giveaways, NXNE programming and a whole lot more. It's your fastest way to find out what's up and hot for 2010.

Just flip us an email at inside@nxne.com saying you want in on the Inside.

NOW, here comes part II. To make the deal even sweeter, you could win a pair of tix to the CASBYs. Confirmed performers include: Matt Good, ill Scarlett, The Stills, Metric , Mother Mother and The Arkells.

All you need to do is have 5 of your friends send an email with CASBYs + [your name] in the subject line.

All emails submitted before midnight Tuesday, October 20, 2009, count.

Don't forget to follow us on Twitter (@nxnefest) and fan us at Facebook (facebook.com/nxnefestival) for more updates too.

NXNE ANNOUNCES 2009 LINEUP

NXNE (NORTH BY NORTHEAST) has announced its lineup for the 15th edition of the festival, taking over Toronto from June 17 – 21, 2009. Full details are now available at www.nxne.com. Check the site often; there’s new information being added regularly.

MYNXNE is a unique online feature activated to coincide with the lineup announcement. Fans can log on, listen to MP3s from NXNE bands, choose the shows they want to see, and create a schedule for themselves. There’s no need to miss anything because of a misread schedule! Find it at www.nxne.com.

NXNE will be taking over Toronto with live performances, films, and conference sessions in neighbourhoods all over the city. The hub of this invasion is Yonge-Dundas Square, where a huge shot of adrenaline will slam straight into the heart of downtown with four days of free concerts on the NXNE Mainstage, featuring performances by Black Lips, Burning Brides, Wintersleep, The Sonics, Youth Brigade, The Cool Kids, GZA and more.

The NXNE Music Festival has over 500 performers on 50 stages, with 28 clubs offering extended hours by serving until 4am. Some special international guests include Film Noir (France); Fake Blood (UK); Pirate Love (Norway); DAT Politics (France); Kill Krinkle Club (Ireland); Dirtblonde (UK); Awkward I (Netherlands); and Benny Crespo’s Gang (Iceland).

Americans on the just-announced festival roster include These Are Powers (Brooklyn, NY); No Age (Los Angeles, CA); Japanther (Brooklyn, NY); Crystal Antlers (Long Beach, CA); Experimental Dental School (Portland, OR); Matt & Kim (Brooklyn, NY); Golden Triangle (Brooklyn, NY); The Daredevil Christopher Wright (Eau Claire, WI); Mika Miko (Los Angeles, CA); Midwest Dilemma (Omaha, NB); and Built By Snow (Austin, TX).

Domestically, NXNE is featuring King Khan & The BBQ Show (Montreal, PQ); The Most Serene Republic (Milton, ON); Manafest (Toronto, ON); Dinosaur Bones (Toronto, ON); Hexes and Ohs (Montreal, PQ); and Ghost Bees (Halifax, NS).

The NXNE Film Festival has the best in music-related film, with 30 features, documentaries and shorts. There are several North American and Canadian premieres, including: Julian Temple’s Eternity Man; Ruth Somalo’s Till You’re Told To Stop: James Blunt; and Brendan Toller’s I Need That Record: The Death (Or Possible Survival) of The Independent Record Store. NXNE also offers a broad spectrum of documentary, live concert and subculture titles such as Rush: Backstage Secrets; Hori Smoku Sailor Jerry; Dylusions of Grandeur; and Let Them Know: The Story of Youth Brigade and BYO Records.

The NXNE Conference gets rolling with The Town Hall: State of the Industry 2009, and continues with informative and provocative panel discussions and hands-on workshops. NXNE is thrilled to have American hip hop pioneer and former graffiti artist Fab 5 Freddy settle in for a Celebrity Interview with none other than GZA, founding member of the seminal hip hop group the Wu-Tang Clan.

Fans can attend the festival with 5-day or 1-day wristbands, Priority Passes or VIP Super Passes; prices range from $25 - $250. Visit www.nxne.com to buy passes & wristbands and for more festival info.
