Current mood: confused
Just wanted to give you an update on 2009 so far .... A bit of an extreme start really....we have had some real highs and some real lows. The lows being the sad news about our old friend and roadie/ Master tattoo artist ' Nutty Dave' Ayres passing away , and also Andy Martinez from the Nekros and The Rocketz . Graham ( bass player ) ex of DAG and many other outfits besides , lost his baby girl during childbirth....totally out of order all round !!! WTF !!! This World sure sucks huh ???? Our thoughts really are with those guys right now ...and all of their families . On top of all that , the twat that is Gordon Brown is still the lunatic in charge of the Asylum . We really hoped him and his cronies would have been ousted out by now . Dear Oh Dear ...what a mess !!
On the highs side....FRENZY have finished the new album '' In The Blood '' !! 2 years in the making ....sounds awesome...by far the best thing we have ever done !! It really is ....can't wait for you guys to hear it all !! The final song is called ' Dark Winter ' and nicely tops off the 10 track album . It is mastered and ready to go . We have some big plans for it , so keep checking back for more info !!!!!
On Feb 19th , we are off for another USA Tour ....taking in California , Nevada and Arizona....we are doing 9 shows . The flyer is up on our site . We are also going back to do the Ink & Iron tattoo and custom car / culture / music festival at The Queen Mary , Long Beach / California in June ....and plan to slot in a couple of club shows too !! We have just put together a great West Coast Street Team too ....we put out a request for teams and we are peoud to say that we were totally overwhelmed by the response !! All the posters and flyers are winging their way to you all now !!
We have already done a great show for Drunkabilly at the MONSTER MASH in Geel , Belgium ( Jan 10th ) ...it was kicking !! Frenzy are also playing at The Psychomania Rumble in Potsdam , Germany on May 31st. This is a 3 day event with tons of other 'billy bands gracing the stage over the whole event ! We are headling on the bank holiday Sunday night ! The flyer is up on our site !
We have a cool show booked in at TJ's in Newport , South Wales on 29th March , so we hope to see some of you UK crowd there !! More info / flyer coming soon .
Frenzy have been asked to return to Spain again this year to play at the new Psychobilly Meeting festival just up the road from Calella . This is by popular demand !!! As you may know , we took that festival by storm in 2007 !! What a great nite that was !! The date for 2009 is 26th June !...be there......
Whilst we were on tour in Japan ...Nov/Dec2008 , we signed a deal with Vivid Sound Corp to release a special licenced version of Frenzy's crackin' album NITRO BOY . This version will be extra special . It will be a double disc'd album with the Nitro Boy tracks on one disc and the second disc being lots of video footage that we have recorded in the last 2 years ....live , studio , interviews etc ...etc.... On top of all that , there will be a free give away CD E.P. of 3 trax that we recorded in their studio during the tour . The tracks recorded are all new versions of , I See Red , Clockwork Toy and This is the Fire . Vivid Sound requested that we re - record these tracks for them because they are so popular in Japan . We were happy to oblige !! All this comes out in March and will be available thru us to purchase .....A Must Have Item we would say !! So ....we are booking a lot more shows in as we speak ...and as soon as they are confirmed 100% , they will go up on our gig listing !! Japan and Aussi are being discussed right now !!
STOP PRESS !!!....we have just had confirmation that FRENZY will be playing at the Dave Ayres benefit gig , along with Nigel Lewis and 4 other bands , at The Gaff in Holloway , London on May 2nd . All proceeds going to Dave's family . We are really proud to be taking part in this show ....so make an effort to get there please . More info as we get it !!!!
That's all for now ....more soon...
See you all somewhere out there soon !

Current mood: sad
Frenzy received sad news yesterday . An old friend and former popular roadie for Frenzy , Nutty Dave ( Ayres ) sadly and tragically was killed in a road traffic accident at approx 5.30 pm on Sunday 25th January 2009 . It appears that a car pulled out in front of Dave whilst he was riding his Harley and as he swerved to avoid the car , he then collided with a parked vehicle. To say that we found this news to be shocking would be an understatement ! Dave was our roadie , alongside his partner in nuttiness , Psycho Kev ( Wyatt ), from 1983 thru to 1987 and as our crew during the Klubfoot years , they became as popular as the band ! They even appeared on the centre labels of both the I See Red 7'' and 12'' e.p's ! Their pictures made it onto countless other Frenzy record / CD sleeves . Dave and Kev came on many European Tours with us and were part of the family. Dave in particular struck a chord with Steve Whitehouse's own family and even went along on one or two family holidays in the early 80's. Steve first met Dave when Whitehouse was only 13 years old , which is practically 30 years ago . Dave was stood outside Virgin Records in Broadmead , Bristol with his pet rat on his shoulder!! The 2 guys hit it off straight away ( mainly due to the fact that they both had quiffs and loved Rockabilly ! ) and this friendship lasted for 30 years . Dave actually lent Frenzy the money to buy their first tour bus in 1985 and it has to be said that when Dave Ayres was doing Frenzy stage security , the guys always felt safe on stage !! As time moved on , Dave decided his days as a roadie were over and he branched out into the wild and wonderful world of Tattooing . It not only suited him , he excelled at it and in recent years has become a World renown , award winning tattooist , gaining recognition from tattoo artists across the globe !! His shop , Skin Deep in Bristol ( where he worked with his old long term friend / twin , the well known Ozzy ) was a popular place for all the ole 'billy's and many others besides!! Nutty Dave Ayres has so much history ...we could go on forever...he was a zany and colourful character and we will miss him immensely ! Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family , friends and associates...may you be strong !! Dave ...you will be in our thoughts forever mate . Lets hope they have tattoo parlours in Heaven ! FRENZY

Hi all of you in Frenzyland. A quick update from a hotel lobby in Shinjuku...we have been doing a very successful tour of Japan since Nov 26th and it has been great !! The crowds have been amazing and the shows electric !! 6 shows completed ....Sapporo , Nagoya , Kanazawa , Shimuzu City, Osaka and Tokyo. We have a second show in Tokyo tonight and then we will be back in the recording studio on Sunday to mix the 3 tracks that we recorded on the 3rd December. Then we fly out on Tuesday...back to old blighty and the fuckin' recession ....what a clash seeing as we have been doing some great business out here !!! You got a lot to answer for Gordon Twat Brown !!
We have licensed our latest album into Japan on the very prestigious record label...Vivid Sound Corp and the 3 tracks we just recorded will be a give away ep to go with the album....the album itself will have a second disc with it ...a dvd...it will inc lots of footage from our usa and euro tours during 2007/ 2008 plus some interview and studio footage ....WHAT A PACKAGE THAT WILL BE !!!! We will let you know when it is out !! Should be in March 2009 !!
Soooo....the tour has been great ...although a little marred by the fact that Steve Eaton ( Seat ) couldn't make it ...so Carl Parry ( Frenzy guitar and some drums ....1989-1999) very kindly agreed to step in for this tour and he has done well ...Cheers dude .....Steve will be back for our Cheese and Grain Charity show on Dec 12th in Frome ....and all will be right in our world ....
Cheers to the awesome Japanese fans ...you really have been great , great , great !!! Cheers Mutsumi and Big Rumble Promotions !!
More soon !!
Cheers
FRENZY

OLD SCHOOL ROCKABILLY PSYCHOSIS PART 2 FESTIVAL REVIEW - By Mark Sprex
Mrs Sprex and myself decided to head up to Antwerp on Saturday for 2 reasons, one was to visit our friends Angelo ad Peggy at their store Sinner Supply as they are closing down at christmas, and the other to check out the 'Old School Rockabilly Psychosis Festival' at The Hof Ter Lo in Antwerp.
We arrived early around 5.30 pm so caught the first band, Belgium's 'Mudmen' who I must say have improved a lot over the last year or so and have quite a unique and powerful sound all of their own. They did a good job of the very hard job of opening a festival such as this, so all credit to them.
It was a suprise and pleasure to see Mr Frantic Franky compering the evening, and he did a great job throughout the night .. This guy should have his own TV show .. An un-discovered living legend!!
Next up was 'The Boppin' Kids' from Italy who actually had only one 'kid' on bass, who was actually the guitarist/singer's 'kid' son !! ... good band but too many obvious covers for my liking, maybe because of the languge barrier I don't know? ... But anyhow they put on a very good show full of energy and showmanship and got the hall warmed up a little.
The next band I remember in their original line-up in the early 80's with the album 'Scare Me To Death', still a personal favourite of mine actually ... So when the so-called 'Rattlers' took to the stage it was not entirely a big suprise to see only one original member and a bunch of other musicians backing him up, as is so often the case with these come-back band re-unions. The said origional member is Nick Peck who was bassist for the band in the early days and later re-formed the band taking over on lead-vocals. From the first song, it was obvious that the band had not rehearsed with the singer as while they did a great job backing him up, he didn't seem to know what was going on and had no set list or planned structure for the show which along with his weak vocals didn't get the set off to a great start !! It did however pick up a little as he constantly asked the audience for requests (boring!!) but pleased some it seemed anyway, and Mr Peck seemed to be really enjoying himself too !! All in all a pretty average gig, but well-played by the musicians he used who had obviously done their 'Rattler's' homework !!
Next the P.O.X. who I remember from their unusual recordings featured on the old 'Psycho Attack Over Europe' albums. The first band of the evening to put on a real show, with special lighting effects etc and a great sound and live show featuring all their well-known old recordings. I really enjoyed their set, good entertaining real old school psychobilly fun how it should be.
The main reason I came tonight was to check out the next band 'Frenzy', one of the pioneers and longest running psycho/neo rockabilly bands who are into their 25th year now. I must say I have a whole lot of respect for their leader Steve Whitehouse, because he has continuously worked hard throughout the years to bring top-quality and varied work through his great songwriting and composing, and although I've seen the band many times over the years I can honestly say I have not once witnessed a bad show, always 100 percent enthusiasm, energy and sheer talent. From the word go, they hit the Hof Ter Lo hall with dynamite mixing all the old favourites with the new stuff and delivering with a shattering force and power .... Absolutely brilliant and I can't say any more really ... Just go and see them if you get the chance as I highly recommend this fantastic legendary trio, you will not be disappointed!!
Final band of the evening was the 'to quote' "Only Pure Psychobilly" band in the world which is of course the mighty legend that is P.Paul Fenech and The Meteors. Well I will be completely open and honest and say that I have never been a real hard-core Meteors fan, I loved the very early stuff from the 'Home Grown Rockabilly' album and the first 3 albums will always be faves of mine, especially the classic and fantastic 'In Heaven' which is a gold nugget in musical history in my opinion. Mr Fenech has to be respected without a doubt for his exhaustive level of output both in the studio and on the road throughout the last 30 odd years, a man true to his craft and doesn't give a damn what anyone else has to think or say, that's alright by me!! .... This man is a rock 'n' roll warrior and will always have his legion of fans and followers known world-wide of course as 'The Kattle' or 'Wreckin' Crew' ... and deservedly so. So about the show, nice mix of old and new and everything in between delivered as always with the "Fuck You" attitude that he's famous for, great rock 'n' roll but not for the faint-hearted !! ... Long may he reign .. O.T.M.A.P.P.
Thanks Christoph Drunkabilly for another great night of Rockabilly Psychosis

Excellent review, Frenzy have been on top form this year, I bet PPF had to pull out all the stops to follow them. Thanks for taking the time to write the review. I wish I had been there, not for most of the bands but the atmosphere and the beer, only because it rhymes.

Current mood: blessed
Hi Everyone.....for those of you out there that take the time to read these blogs....we wanted to give you a bit of an update as to what we have been up to these past couple of months.
To start with...this year has been a blast gig wise and we have been loving it loads !! We have played to some great audiences across the World...you guys have really been fun to play to !! ....But inbetween all of this , we have been recording our 25th anniversary album ! The album is called ...' In the Blood '...and some of you may have heard the exclusive MySpace sneak preview tracks up on our player a little while ago . We were amazed at the amount of listens those tracks had !! It averaged out to nearly 1000 plays per day !!! We just couldn't believe it . Since they went up , we have been working hard between shows to finish the album and we are pleased to say , it is almost finished . Just one song left to record . The 2 Steves have been writing some fab new material together....possibly the best Frenzy stuff ever....so watch out for the album coming out on our own label by the end of Autumn.
More news...The Frenzy tour of the USA ( West Coast ) went well . It was the most shows that Frenzy had done over there in one go ...15 altogether....all practically back to back !! It was pretty tiring , mainly due to the huge distances covered between each show but the crowds made up for it !! You were all great !! One or two of the shows up North in Oregon and Washington left a bit to be desired on the local promotion side of things , but to be honest , it didn't spoil things much . The tour was the first that we had done with our new agents at Libertalia in LA and we were really chuffed as to the way that the guys work...so thanks guys !! The highlights of the tour for us all were the fabulous Ink & Iron Festival at The Queen Mary in Long Beach , CA . and the Knitting Factory in Hollywood . What a couple of buzzing evenings they were !! Some pics from those shows are up on our photo albums...please take the time to look !! Cheers to all the peeps involved in putting those events on ...GREAT !
The support band for that tour were the fabulous HENCHMEN from LA. Those guys really are the Dogs Doo Daa's and they made the tour swing along soooo well! We couldn't have done it without them ....backline , driving , admin , flyer artwork ....etc...etc...THANKS to Eric Razo and the boys for everything above and beyond the call of duty ...You must check them out .
More cool things that happened on the tour....FRENZY finally signed on the dotted line with SOS Records from California...a pretty big punk / alternative record label working out of Corona. They have been supporting Frenzy for about a year with tour back up and promo...and after some negotiations ...the deal was finalised to release Frenzy material thru the label so the U.S. fans can finally get hold of our stuff without having to try and get hold of imports . We are so pleased to be part of the SOS group of bands....thanks to Ezzat , Paula and Joe for looking after us !
Steve Whitehouse also was proud to become officially sponsored by the fantastic crew at King Double Bass in Cali. Even though he has been part of the endorsed list for about 18 months now , he never had his custom bass but we can now report that the bass was finalised just before the West Coast tour and it was used for all the shows . It really is a lovely bit of kit and performed admirably throughout. There are some pix of the bass on the photo pages ...Steve Eaton is also now sponsored by King...but for their great guitars instead ! Brad and the boys at King prepared a lovely Gretsch/Telecaster hybrid in their own fab style for Steve and it sounded amazing . You have to check ' em out !!! So thanks to all of the King machine for believing in us and working so hard to get those 2 brilliant instruments built for the Tour ...You ROCK !!
Steve W has also just taken delivery of his latest Bassix sponsor bass that is designed to be a proper looking double bass but totally air portable !! Alan @ Bassix really is a visionary genius and with input from Steve has developed a truely collapsible upright bass with a full body. It will be having it's first outing for the 2 German shows for Mental Hell in late September. Pix of the bass will be going up soon !!
We are still busy booking shows to make 2008 a true Anniversary World Tour!! We have Belgium booked in for Drunkabilly and we are putting the finishing touches to a new short USA West Coast tour in mid/late October. We have the German shows for Lonesome and are currently negotiating for a Japanese tour too...this will be for late Nov / early Dec....
So...as you can see....lots going on and more to come !! We have been really over the moon with our 25th Anniversary and are planning a big party to top off the year at a cool venue in London in December , so keep an eye out for the date !!
Thanks to you all for making our shows this year special...and we hope to see more of you out on the road soon !!!
Cheers

SATANIC STOMP...WOW !! A GREAT RESPONSE FOR FRENZY...MOST SAY...THE BEST BAND OF THE WEEKEND! ! ! NOT OUR WORDS BUT THE WORDS OF ALL OF THE PEOPLE WE HAVE HAD CONTACT FROM SAY THE SAME THING !!
Frenzy are chuffed !! We set out on a mission for the Stomp . To show everybody involved that Frenzy ARE at the top of their game and the hottest band in the World in this scene right now !! This might sound like a bold statement but , Hey !!...just ask anybody who has seen us in the last 18 months ! Frenzy took the Stomp by storm and proved a point that the band should be getting the recognition it deserves !! A few lucky breaks with some of the people that seem to give the same breaks to some of the bands that don't deserve it...wouldn't go a miss ! Do you hear? Hellcat , Side One Dummy , Radio One etc...etc...
Thanks to all of you crazy fuckers out there who have sent us cool words about the Stomp....here are a few of 'em...

hey, i was there.....lucky me! It was fucking great! It was the first Frenzy show I've ever seen so there's nothing to compare with but i was amazing. The sound was good, although the drums were sounding like on a metal concert (i suppose this was the mixer's fault...). The set was great, especially 'Clockwork Toy' and the coversong from The Living End. The Stomp overall was a great show too, only the beer was too expensive....So, I hope to see a Frenzy show in Germany again soon!

FRENZY, I love your music for a long long time. And I was really happy to see you in Lichtenfels playing a very well gig. I was wondering about the position in the lineup. No Headliner? Your were the best band on saturday!! Playing all the everytime hits. Like I see red etc. You are the band with the most sympathy factor, the most positive charisma........I like that. Seeing the fun, when you are playing!
THANK YOU FOR THAT.
Hope to see you very soon.
