Death By Rodeo is a group I had only caught the last three minutes of before so I had no idea what to expect. Three piece band where the bass player Matt alternates between stand up and electric bass with the drummer Mark setting the tone with and charged with containing not only the bassist but the fret work of axe slinger Luke. And man this guy can shred. I have enormous amount of respect for rock a billy guitar players. The sound is generally not overdriven and distorted meaning when you fuck up its all out there for everyone to hear, no tricks, no fuzz, no wah. This band and specifically this guitar player have legit breakout potential in them. Again like earlier in the day the vocals did not come out a bright and clear as I would have liked but Death By Rodeo delivers such a powerful one two punch of pure roots rock n roll that the minor sound glitch didn't matter too much. They worked the crowd up too.All in all probably played a good 20 more minutes than they were supposed to.Yeah they are a rock a billy band but they rock hard enough to be on anyone bill or anyone with them. Gotta get my hands on their CD next time round. My favorite song of the night I'd say was Bird Flu. Sounds like a like a hit to me.
