It's here!
My latest novella is available today! It's the second in my Cat's Meow, Moon Fever series over at Red Rose Publishing. I am quite proud of this story and hope you grab a copy for yourself.
I won't leave you hanging so here's a brief excerpt and information about the novella.
Available from Red Rose Publishing
Title: Black Box Bistro
Author: RaeLyn Blue
Genre: I/R Science Fiction Erotic Romance
Price: $2.99
Blurb:
Halo has had enough of her tech helper Kai's flirtious nature. Though she secretly harbors a hot flame for him herself, she is more than stunned when she catches him fanning his flame for a stripper from the Cat's Meow, a strip club she had long since clawed her way out of. Now the owner of Black Box Bistro, Halo serves up virtual reality fare to the troops stumbling in from the moon colony wars. If only her lust for Kai wasn't so vivid and real, Halo believes she could be happy. With him around contstantly, she's forced to face her hunger for his love and affection.
Kai is carrying a lot more than a torch for his boss, Halo. He's packing a stone hard tool that would work out the kinks in her life, if only she'd let him. He's watched her nightly at the Cat's Meow and followed her to help her set up her own business when she finally broke free of the grind. Still, Kai knows Halo's heart is locked and sealed up, battered by stripping for a living and hardened by failed attempts at love. He has to find a way to carve through her pain and light her heart's love, because his love for her is very real. He just has to prove it.
Excerpt:
Kai busied himself and tried to remain remote. He logged into the bistro's administrative window and began running virus scans and repairing damaged files from the master he had inserted into the computer. The text zipped across the screen and he keyed in the appropriate responses when prompted. He had to force himself to pay attention as if it mattered, because if he didn't, he throw Halo onto the floor and show her real, live sex instead of the sim-sex she usually engaged in after hours.
Beneath the counter's shadow, Kai was as hard as a hammer. And he knew exactly who he wanted to pound. His routine multiplex pants and jacket starved off the moon's frosty temperatures, but failed to hide anything. If Halo were to come around to the backside of the counter, he'd have to explain the tall tool jutting out like an industrial sized cannon blaster.
Though she'd probably figure it out fairly quickly.
He frowned as he remembered how his fury at the soldier had forced the surrounding space to shrink into a singular tunnel. He'd forgotten Halo was even there. The soldier set off all the wrong vibes and he wanted to chuck the needle prick to the street, but then, Halo said his name.
Kai.
And it wasn't just her saying it that became the Trojan horse in his system. It was how she said it, as if her lips were making love to his name, his being. So sensual and sexy her throaty voice sounded wrapped around it, it damn near caused him to come on himself. Wrenched out of his anger, he fumbled back half a step. Hell, maybe even a whole step, but mentally, he'd crashed back down to the room. With his tunnel-vision shattered and a bit discombobulated, Kai struggled to regain control over the huge shift in emotions, but it was too late.
Halo did it. It was then, as the whirlwind of lust and fury fought it out, she put her back to him and shimmed by him, pressing her ass, that wonderful, round ass against the front of his pants, sucking him down from being furious one second and being instantly horny the next.
It was her fault. Wiggling that glorious ass of hers to get by him, rubbing it across the front of his pants and awakening his sleeping member. If only she'd asked him to step further back and not touch him, not allowed those ample cheeks to come in contact with him, he'd be fine right now.
Fine.
Fine enough to slip into your own pod and play the virtual reality version of one Halo Luckson across your stiff cock. Sure, she's good for unleashing your pent up problems. That ain't fine, Kai, that's a long way from fine. That's—
Shut up!
His inner Kai didn't allow him to forget why he'd come here to this dreadful place. A citizen of Earth, he ranked in the minority on the moon. Sure, but he came here to work, to be anonymous, to disappear. Successful in leaving behind his master architect father and political ambitious mother, Kai didn't think vanishing on the moon would've been so easy. His parents had no clue of his whereabouts and probably had him declared legally dead. A cruel grin emerged onto his face at the thought. Even his inner Kai wouldn't acknowledge how this single belief tore his insides into tiny shreds. His parents would've done it solely to collect on the money his grandfather had willed to him.
Greedy buggers.
"Kai," inquired Halo rather impatiently.
His breathing hitched as his eyes met her maple brown ones. Each time she spoke his name, the same thing happened. His cock twitched as if an invisible leash had been tethered between it and her voice.
She yanked, he rose.
"Yeah?" he asked, irritable about the low ache in his balls. "Working here, Halo."
Working on not taking you to the rear office, unzipping that body glove and tasting you for real.
"I know," she shot back. "I wanted to ask about the new software package from Averon."
"Yeah, what about it?"
He stopped pretending to type.
"Did it come in?" she asked, hip cocked, both hands resting on those delicious curves her one-piece pantsuit couldn't stop working. "Three sols from the Augarian Army requested it last week. Said they'd be back in here tomorrow. Get the picture, techy?"
"Got it, boss."
"Good," she snapped, turned on her booted heel and stalked off in the opposite direction.
End Excerpt.

Those of you in the know, already know about how I, RaeLynn Blue, is a closet Trekkie. In fact, I'm a big fan of Trek, anime, manga and all things cyberpunk. I like mysteries too, but my real love is sf and fantasy. Some very close friends know that in my other writing life, I am a published sf author of five novels--from print publishers.
You may be asking yourselves why Raelynn writes romance when she absolutely adores sf. There's one reason for that. I enjoy watching people fall in love. I find the incredible odds to falling in love to be both intriguing and worth reading about. I like hot sex and enjoy it more when its between two people who can't help but be together, defying overwhelming odds and pushing through the day to day gauntlet to be in love.
So, it should come as no surprise that my favorite stories are those where the genres, sf and romance, are blurred and blended. Shara will laugh because each time we discuss writing a story, my two favorite genres of choice are sf and fantasy.
I'd like to introduce you to my science fiction series that you may not know exists. Many of you are already quite familiar with my fantasy series, Humania which the third novel, PRIN IN PORTA , was released from Torrid this month. However, my science fiction, IR erotic romance series has some how been carted under the radar.
Ladies, I give you the MOON FEVER, Cat's Meow series!

STAR SEDUCTION
The first novella in the series is Star Seduction, available from Red Rose Publishing.
is set in the Moon Fever-Cat's Meow universe.
Black Box Bistro
Another novella in the Moon Fever-Cat's Meow universe is coming August 14th from Red Rose Publishing

Cayla was not the typical gun shot victim. A quiet waitress, she was brutally gunned down coming out of the neighborhood corner store. There was nothing taken, there was no motive, just a fragile, broken woman lying on the cold, broken sidewalk.
Kale was not the easiest cop to get along with. Biting and sarcastic, he worked alone caring for little but the job. There was something about this case that Kale just couldn't let go. There was something about this victim that called him unlike any other.
Can they heal each other or will it just be a banage on their wounds and they still fester?
Excerpt:
"Why are you doing this?" She could not stop the words from spilling from her lips. She truly hadn't meant to say anything at all. His hand stilled, yet he did not remove it.
"I don't know." It was a soft declaration more to himself than to her.
Cayla looked up into the stormy gray eyes that seemed to hold her captive. He looked pensive, yet there was something more. Something she could not begin to define. He peered down at her and smiled. A sad self-mocking gesture really. He looked so tired; grim frown lines framed his luscious lips. Were men supposed to have such tempting mouths, all full and kissable? It was a mouth that inspired wicked thoughts despite her tremendous physical discomfort. His unkempt dark locks fell forward into his eyes. His jaw line gave testimony that it had been a while since his face had seen a razor.
He worked too hard and saw too much. Who took care of Kale Casterlow? Her hands reached up and pushed his hair off his forehead before she thought about what she was doing. His eyes closed as if she was stroking him in some sensual, intimate way. When his eyes opened and locked onto hers once more, she gasped at what she found blaring out from them. Passion. Pure, unadulterated, raw desire. Why would such a ruggedly beautiful man desire her?
"I will find who did this to you, Cayla. I swear, no one will ever hurt you again."

Yes, there's another Humania Tale on the horizon, coming down the pike from Torrid. It's called Prin in Porta and if you've read Desire Into Gold, then you'll remember Prin. This tale is all about our young princess, Prin, whose brother, Joshua (of Desire Into Gold fame) has ascended the throne. What does this do to a sister who needs a husband in order to have a chance at being queen? Makes her even more spoiled. Dubbed a duburoyale, Prin isn't interested in anything that isn't about her. She makes it a point that everything in Humania is about her.
Here's the official blurb: Princess Courtney Rose, Prin, is not having a great day. Her brother, King Josuha has packed her up and shipped her off to Porta, a providence known for its number of retired wizards, sorceresses and brothels. Bored out of her mind and given a new name to protect her identity, Prin is coiled to strike out at the peaceful providence. Missing the party life in Humania, this "deburoyale" longs to be back in the lap of luxury--if only she can survive the two weeks she's sentenced to Porta.
All is a serious drag until she meets the servant, Patrick Butler. Patrick Butler is fed up with being a low level attendant. Being reared as a servant since birth, he longs for adventure and if possible, a little fun. Both Patrick and Prin get more than they bargain for when Lady Seaman sets her sights on snaring the young Butler for her bed and eliminating the young princess as well. With her brother out of contact, Prin is on her own, and she must escape Lady Seaman's clutches for not only her life will be shattered, but those of the royal family.
Will this partying princess grow up in time to save her brother's throne, and manage to keep Patrick? This title is due to release from Torrid in August 2008.
Once again the talented Nancy has spun her magic on the Prin and Porta cover. Check it out above.
If you've missed the other two novels in the Humania series, check them out at Torrid. DESIRE INTO GOLD is book 1 in the series, followed by THE ONYX SCION, book 2.

The Onyx Scion: A Humania Tale
Available from Torrid
blurb: Misaki Kenji has just experienced the worst day of her life. Her beloved husband, Otieno Kenji, has been slain. Shattered by grief, the other members of her hunting party discover her, draped over him. Accused, shunned, and labeled a murderer, Misaki stands accused of his demis.
Kanton Kingsley cannot believe he's been given the crappy assignment of covering the Kenji murder. An open and shut case, Kanton believes that he'll be back to bustling city of Humania before the weekend. Not that he has plans, for his life is void of friends, lovers, and purpose—except for work. Yet when he lays eyes on the beautiful Misaki, he is enchanted at once and frustrated. Kanton and Misaki are soon caught up in a tale of greed, power, and conspiracy centered around an ancient poem, one rumored to be legend from the land of G'hara. It speaks of a lost scion, and the sole heir to the Dark Elves' throne.
EXCERPT PG
"Did you or did you not murder your husband?" Kanton asked for perhaps the one hundredth time. The armor bearing the king's insignia held hints of the azure in his blue cape. He had removed his helmet hours ago, and his dreadlocks had been tied back and out of his way.
"No," Misaki said, her voice a breath above a whisper. Swollen eyes, heavy from lack of sleep, stared at the wooden table. Fat, flowing tears fell down her face, leaving salty tracks in their wake and irritating her eyes all the more. The harsh tone and interrogating tactics meant nothing.
For Misaki Kenji was numb.
Now that Otieno was gone—living didn't mean much any more.
Lock her in the kingdom's dungeons, feed her to dragons, and drop her from the highest point on Mount Gran'dor, high above the distant hub of Humania.
None of it mattered much at all.
The knight, Kanton Kingsley, didn't understand that, but yet, Misaki let him continue to bellow at her. His cheeks puffy, his throat no doubt weary. Perhaps he enjoyed the sound of his own voice.
She didn't kill her soul's best friend, companion, and lover—Otieno.
"Need I remind you, Misaki, that four others saw you with the arrow in your hand! Otieno's blood was found all over your dress!"
He paused, watching her face.
She felt his eyes swarm over her skin, and it prickled from the intensity.
Misaki said nothing, letting his words float to the ceiling like smoke and vanish. Being hollow with grief rendered her nothing more than a vacant, empty shell.
"You are going to be executed for this, Misaki," Kanton said quietly, his brown eyes meeting hers at last, his voice sweetened as with honey. "You must save yourself. Confess and the noble's advisor will go easy on you. Your family has served Osir for generations—your loyalty to the young mistress, Laurel Lords, will also be noted. Their family is powerful here in Osir, as you well know."
Misaki only stared at him, her heart beating against her chest with such unrestrained fury, she thought it would tear through her gown and spill out to the floor. Then he could witness her grief.
Did he truly think she cared about Laurel Lords? Her family's duty to the Lords, for whom she hadn't worked in nearly nine months? Surely the knight jested.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Her only thoughts, her sole suffering stemmed from Otieno's death. It hovered on the brink of consuming her, an unquenchable flame, until she was nothing but burnt ash sailing in the wind.
"I cannot help you if you refuse to help yourself," Kanton snapped, turned on his black booted heel and stalked from the room.
"I didn't kill Otieno," she said to the closed door. "Goddess help me! I didn't kill him!" As she closed her eyes, the events of the morning's malice rose up as if conjured by the great sorceress herself. * * * *
The whiteness was just like a big, blanched sheet, spread onto a huge earthy bed. Coldness made Misaki's ears feel like she didn't have any at all. Even her nose burned from the frigid frost, but she could not admit it to anyone—least of all Otieno.
She'd be the first to capture the rabbit and finally settle all claims that women couldn't hunt with success without magic.
"Look there, Misaki!" cried Otieno at that moment, his maple-brown eyes wide with excitement stood out like droplets of delight against his brown skin. "There! There!"
Amongst a clump of amazingly green trees, a dark spot surrounded by them, a flash of white blinked past them.
"Rabbit!" Misaki whispered.
"Dinner," Otieno said, licking his lips greedily.
He raised his spear and shoved his thick, black hair back. Without even glancing at her, he wrapped his hair into a tight braid, his nimble fingers twisting without pause, almost a blur.
Misaki gestured to the four behind her, all carrying shields and spears, their sharp tips glistening from the full moon's light. Darkness abounded in the province of Osir, but the blanket of crisp, fresh snow provided a sort of illumination in the dreariness.
"No!" Misaki hissed and crawled, her dress dragging remnants of snow across her flesh.
Otieno, a faster runner, raced ahead, carefully, silently like a snake slithering its way across the ground. Misaki frowned in determination. No way was her lover going to beat her again—especially not in front of the pack of professional hunters in the party, some humans, others pixies, and even a few fairies, though their thick sweaters and leggings made them appear as fat as snowmen.
Scouring around a clump of naked trees, Misaki kneeled, placed her bow in her hand and let out a silent, slow, steadying sigh. With her own chocolate eyes, she peered at the rabbit—its black eyes the only indication it wasn't part of the mounds of snow now that it had come to a stop.
She smiled. The victory celebration tonight at mealtime would be in her favor—for once.
With that sole thought on her mind, she pulled back her arrow, the string vibrating from their tautness. Calmness, patience, and a desire to succeed, her gamaliel that her teacher taught her, held the keys to happiness in this life and the one beyond in Bok'horo.
Just as she as about to release her arrow, a zinging zipped through the air. Then a muffled thump as something crashed to the ground.
In its wake, other sounds pierced the otherwise quiet night. All around her the din of others running, shouts, and then silence signaled that something was amiss.
"No!" Misaki shouted and bolted to her feet, for she could feel dread drift through the evening's woods. She hurried in the direction she'd come, bypassing her own footprints in the snow.
Only three steps behind her, in front of an evergreen tree lay her beloved Otieno, his eyes wide, his lips muttering words and a long arrow jutting out from his chest—a pool of crimson seeped out in rapid rushes from his body and onto the surrounding snow.
"Otieno!" Misaki fell to her knees beside him in shock.
The arrow's cold shaft stood straight up into the air. Misaki placed her hand around it, feeling how frigid, how very solid it was. She debated with herself whether to remove it or leave it.
"I'll get it out, love!" she cried, frustration, anguish flooding her system, forcing her to tear up in sorrow for already Otieno's eyes were drooping, dropping down as his body quit. "No, no! Stay with me, Otieno!"
It was then that the other members of the hunting party found her, draped over her beloved's body like an ornate funeral blanket.
End Excerpt, but you can grab this exciting installment in the Humania series at Torrid.
