Platinum selling Universal Motown artist Blue October enlisted Fancorps.com to manage their street team of over two thousand members. The team has since grown stronger than ever and helped push the band to mainstream success.Dallas, TX ( Billboard Publicity Wire) June 22, 2007 -- An online street team management social network, Fancorps has made communication with and organization of the band's growing street team easier than ever. With a one of a kind Web 2.0 interface, the Fancorps application enabled Blue October's management to step in and really take control of the team. "The street team was basically a huge email list of fans dying to help. The problem was we had no efficient way to inform themas a whole without being overwhelmed by their responses or to break them down geographically to direct them to do what was needed." says manager Paul Nugent. "Teaming up with Fancorps solved all these problems and helped us get the team on track." Countless Orders have been completed by the team including big pushes for airplay of the band's video for the single "Into The Ocean." In February, the video reached the number one spot on the VH1 Weekly Countdown and remained on top for several weeks thanks in part to an aggressive street team campaign. Another thing in particular the team accomplished was having a hand in helping the band secure a performance on the Late Night with Conan O'Brien show. For several weeks the team members wrote personalized letters and sent them to the show requesting Blue October be a guest. Coincidence or not, within six weeks the band was asked to appear for the first time, performing their latest single, "She's My Ride Home," from their hit album "Foiled." Other tasks such as posting online promotional banners throughout MySpace and distributing hand bills also helped the band promote their North American tours throughout the last year. The Blue October street team on Fancorps.com is currently promoting the band's scheduled Summer and Fall North American tours with support acts Yellowcard and Shiny Toy Guns, as well as high profile performances at the Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Festivals. Also on deck for the band is a premium edition of their latest album. "Foiled For The Last Time" is a two-disc set consisting of the full version of the "Foiled" album; 14 newly recorded songs performed live earlier this year during the band's Teach Your Baby Well tour; exclusive remixes by legendary DJ/Composer Paul Oakenfold (U2, Moby, New Order) and Grammy nominated producer/remixer/musician Carmen Rizzo (Coldplay, Pete Townshend); a remix of fan favorite, "Calling You"; and, a live version of "Angel," are among the bonus offerings, as well as links to exclusive video content and never-before-seen footage of the band. For more information on Blue October, their upcoming album and tours visit their official website at www.blueoctober.com. Their official Fancorps team site can be found at http://www.fancorps.com/blueoctober.

Founded in the quiet farm town of Sulphur Springs, Texas, "Where people still say 'please' and 'thank you,'" as its chamber of commerce notes, Universal Republic artists Fair to Midland have become one of the most idiosyncratic musical forces in the Lone Star State. The band captures the ear with unparalleled force, coupled with rich orchestration reminiscent of Queen and hard rock dynamism in the vein of Tool, King Crimson and Mars Volta. Fancorps.com sat down with their manager, Frank Hill, to see how things are going with their newly formed street team, a new album on the horizon, and a summer full of high profile tours. Give us a little of history on FTM, when and where did the band form? The name Fair to Midland has been around since 1998 but the current lineup has only been around for 2 to 3 years. Darroh (vocals) and Cliff (guitar) are the only two original members. Matt (keys) and Brett (drums and originally congas) were added to the lineup during the writing process for our independent release inter.funda.stifle. About two years ago our bass player got married and left the band. That is when we lucked out and found Jon (bass). We all hail from the small country town of Sulphur Springs, TX or nearby. Darroh, Cliff and Jon went to high school together. They had asked Matt to lay down keys for a couple tracks on their very first independent album and the band loved him. Later they asked him to become a permanent member. Brett originally played congas and we had another drummer. That drummer had to leave the band and Brett began filling in. We didn't even know he could play the drums. That is how we came to be. Did you guys have a Street Team in place before using Fancorps, and if so how was it? We had tried to put a street team together before but had always failed. It was difficult to keep everything organized. It was also hard to keep in contact with our teamers. The furthest it went was having a local Dallas, TX area team that helped pass out flyers promoting our "home" shows. Your Fancorps team has quickly grown very strong, now with over 300 active members. How has the fan response been? Do they seem to enjoy working with you guys within the site? It has been amazing. We had never had more than 30-40 teamers at a time. When we launched our Fancorps site we ended up getting over 250 fans signed up the first week. We were so surprised! We have the best fans and they have always been so involved. This time it was no different. We have always tried different ways to get our fans involved. At our CD release show for inter.funda.stifle, we gave a free CD to anyone who brought a pair of shoes to donate to the homeless. We ended collecting over 100 pairs of shoes. A lot of bands think that Myspace is enough to keep your fans involved but it just doesn't cut it anymore. Fancorps is the next level!!! Looking at your Member Map it appears you guys have a pretty evenly spread team throughout the states...what regions does the band do best in touring wise? We have dedicated fans from all over but we do especially well in our hometown Dallas as well as Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Albany, Tulsa, Madison, Phoenix, Sacramento and several other cities. We have been lucky enough to tour with great bands such as Dir en Grey and Flyleaf. Those tours along with radio support of our new single "Dance of the Manatee" has a lot of new faces joining the street team. Looks like the band has a long summer of shows ahead, including some big oversees festival gigs. Are they looking forward to being on the road promoting the new album?Absolutely. At the first of June we are in Europe. It is our first time to ever play outside of the US or Canada. We are super excited about it. We have 2 German festivals called Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park which we are playing the main stage with The Smashing Pumpkins! Then we play the Download Festival in the UK. In August we are going back to Europe with our buddies in Dir en Grey and will be playing the Metal Hammer Festival with Tool. We are truly lucky to be playing these festivals with these amazing bands. Speaking of festivals, we saw FTM recently performed at Coachella last month! That must have been a great experience...especially considering Serj from System Of A Down made a guest appearance onstage with the band. Wow. What a great time. We had a great show and a lot of fans came from all over the country to see us. It was also great playing with someone like Serj which we have always been a big fan of. We also got to see a lot of great bands like Bjork, Blond Redhead and Ghostface Killah. Jon also bumped into Lindsey Lohan backstage. haha. Lastly, just wanted to wish you and the band good luck with the release of the new album, we hope the FTM Fancorps team continues to grow along with the band and their audience. Thanks! We owe a lot to you guys!

Order Stats - Also new in the Orders section, are the "Email Results", "Print Order", "Order Proofs", and "Order Stats" options . These new features will give you the ability to better view and share the outcomes of your Orders. Print them out, email them, study them...this way you're better informed about how your team is doing. Team Stats - All Teams can now easily see the breakdown of members geographically, by activity, by number of completed Orders, or activity within the Forums. Fancorps Turns Street Team Into Online Army2007-05-18 12:51:35.313, Story by: Rachael Darmanin With the release of Fancorps, an online managing system that makes band promotion seem almost too easy, the conventional grassroots street team has changed face. The Web-based application combines database management and MySpace-like social communication to give street team members personal log-ins to receive tasks assigned by team leaders that can include anything from posting comments on message boards to calling radio stations to request a single. Members even receive ranking based on a point system to entice competition and reward those members who put in the extra time for their favorite band. With an impressive database of contacts for retail stores, radio stations and what's being called "lifestyle locations" (coffee shops, clubs, etc.), the daunting task of promoting bands has gotten that much easier.
More than 300 bands have signed up for Fancorps already, with Blue October and Bowling For Soup being the company's first clients. There is a free trial offered to learn the system, and prices are then set at $15 to $300, depending on the size of the army. According to G.I. Sanders, one of the site's founders, the site is not just dedicated to bands, it can be used to manage any type of product.
"The biggest thing that separates us from the other street team platforms out there is that we put the emphasis on building a world class team from the foundation of your own fans and keeping them for yourself," he said via press release. "These other sites try to build one big street team and then convince kids to work for the band they like plus 20 bands they may not like."

Utilizing the best in Web 2.0 features, Fancorps provides countless communication tools for an artist or label to organize and manage a street team. Dallas, TX (Billboard Publicity Wire) May 18, 2007 -- Essentially, a street team is a grassroots based organization of fans who work to promote their favorite bands. Now anyone can create and manage their street teams with military like precision with the new interactive web based Fancorps system. "We initially developed Fancorps out of my need to manage the massive street teams of Blue October and Bowling For Soup " says Mike Swinford of Fancorps. "Once we started building it we realized what a powerful tool we had; whether you're a band, band manager, or a record label, we have everything it takes to build and maintain a focused team of supporters." Although the site was designed for musicians in mind, it can be used to manage any type of street team such as independent movie releases or any product to be promoted at a grassroots, hands on level.
The system relies upon an incredibly detailed and fun Web 2.0 based application that combines the best of database management and Myspace inspired interactive social networking. It uses a point and ranking system to give members of a team an incentive to do anything from posting comments and flyers around the Internet, to going to stores and putting up posters, to calling radio stations and requesting airplay of a single. Tasks are created and assigned by team leaders and members of the band's team login and have the option to take on and complete those selected tasks and then be rewarded for them. The site also encompasses an impressive database or "intel" section that includes traditional retail stores and college/commercial radio stations, along with more "lifestyle locations" such as tattoo shops, coffee shops, clubs, and anywhere else you could think of to promote a band or musician.
"I think the biggest thing that separates us from all of the other street team platforms out there, is that we put the emphasis on building a world class team from the foundation of your own fans and keeping them for yourself," says G.I. Sanders, one of Fancorps founders. "These other sites try to build one big street team and then convince kids to work for the band they like plus 20 bands they may not like." For the band itself, the difference is not only the powerful interactive experience you get with Fancorps but also it's price. Bands can sign up for a FREE trial to learn the system and when they are ready to build an army, plans are available anywhere from $15 a month for the local active band to $300 a month for a large touring act who needs a national reach with an unlimited number of street teamers.
Over 300 bands have already signed up during the early beta stages of the site and so far the feedback has been very positive.

Record labels' street teams now online By John Borland
Music executives say Net marketing has become a fundamental tool in album promotions. For a clear sign of how deeply the music industry is adapting to the Internet, look no further than Warner Bros. Records' street teams. Street teams have long been a key part of record labels' grassroots marketing efforts, a kind of Baker Street Irregulars corps of fans, students and paid marketing companies who post fliers, distribute sample discs, and talk up new albums among friends and scene members. In Warner's case, those groups have now been moved under the corporate umbrella of "new media," in recognition of the critical role the Internet is now playing in the label's attempts to identify trends and market its music. "We moved street marketing under new media to make it more accountable and to push more focus onto the Internet," Jeremy Welt, Warner vice president of new media, said Wednesday at the Music 2.0 music summit in Los Angeles. "But we're not just out pushing. We're trying to learn. We're trying to get them to tell us what's going on in their scene." CLICK HERE to read the full article on CNET

Universal Republic artists' Fair To Midland and Straylight Run have enlisted the help of Fancorps to get their new street teams off and running. Both bands have new albums coming out in the next few months and plan to use the Fancorps system to motivate and organize a grass roots marketing strategy to boost awareness. Within just a few days both teams already have several hundred team members signed up and promoting the bands online and in the streets. Another Universal artist, Blue October, also uses Fancorps for their street team and have had amazing results over the past year. Most recently the band instructed their team members to write personalized letters to the Conan O'Brien show requesting an appearance from Blue October. Just a few weeks after the campaign started the band graciously accepted an invitation from the show and appeared live on April 25th.
