We're excited to finally announce our Sunday night July Residency at the Cameo Gallery. We're playing with some of our favorite bands around New York, The Music Slut and the Deli Magazine are presenting, and every evening is sure to be great.

We're also going to be trying out a whole bunch of new songs that we're working on recording now for the next record.

Spring time! Much is news! In list form:

 

1. For those of you who are lucky enough to be in the greatest city in the world, you are cordially invited to a rock and roll show this coming Saturday, May 23rd, 2009 in New York, New York. 

 

where: Union Hall, Park Slope, Brooklyn

when: doors 8 pm, we are on at 10 pm

with: The Jaguar Club (who are amazing!) and Echo Echo

how much: $8 (psssh)

 

The show is being presented by Spicy Times and sponsored by Filter Magazine. It's most likely going to be the greatest night of our entire lives and we'd love to share it with you. The flyer is below.

 

 

2. We hope all of you have already downloaded our free EP, Los Angeles Guitar Dream, that was released a few weeks ago. If not, you can download it here. People have been saying some nice things about it, and it won't be free forever, so tell your neighbors, friends, and anyone you meet on the subway to download it immediately.

3. To further celebrate the EP, we're currently working on a remix and a music video, both with artists we very much admire. More details on those soon, but we're really excited to share them with you when they are ready.

 

4. Finally we'd like to fill you in on our first ever  cover song! We recorded the classic Smiths song "Still Ill" for The Music Slut's Morrissey Covers Album. It should be out in the next few weeks, so check their site in the near future.

5. Brooklyn Vegan posted some very nice words about the EP/ band today, and Will from the Jaguar Club and I interviewed each other for Earfarm. Check both out.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to our wonderful CD release show this past weekend at Union Hall in Brooklyn! Was a glorious event for us Prisoners.

A special thank you to Dan from NYC Taper. He recorded the whole show using a few mics and it sounds great. A review and more info, including a link to download loss-less FLAC files is here.

wow, almost seems like we disappeared there for a bit. don’t fear, we were in hibernation, preparing for the CD release show coming up. It’ll be April 5th at Union Hall, with:

Drink Up Buttercup
Creaky Boards
(us dudes)
the Lisps

The show will also serve as the Lisps’ homecoming show from their lengthy US tour, so should be quite a night. We are (tentatively) going to have a three-piece horn section and hopefully some back up vocalists as well.

"Songs to Forget" will now hit stores April 29th, 2008, being distributed by Carrot Top. It’s at radio now, so call and request for it to your local college radio station. You can however order it immediately from either our site or from our rad label’s site. Hop on it. Vinyl should be ready soon, with a scorching gold/black cover. And new t-shirts.

We’re hitting the road in April as well, doing a few shows with John Vanderslice, and recording a Daytrotter session:

thanks to all who came out to the Daniel Johnston show. It was an amazing experience and one of the highlights of my life. There are pictures on our page from our friend Bryan of Subinev.com and some here from Prefixmag.com. Brooklyn Vegan also has some photos as well as a short interview with me here. We'll soon have some videos of the show as well.

We just got asked to play a show on March 3rd at the Knitting Factory with Saturday Looks Good to Me. It'll be our last show in New York before our CD release show on April 5th!
