Furniture Girls, whose name came from the 70’s sci-fi classic Soylent Green, were deeply saddened by the news of Charlton Heston’s death.  Though his alliance with the NRA in his later years caused some fans to change their opinion of him, Furniture Girls were always loyal supporters of this cinema legend.

His craft and bigger-than-life screen persona will fondly be remembered.  He played so many memorable characters, but there was only one Charlton Heston.

A great man, a screen legend, a hole in our hearts.

Much love to the memory of Chuck.

This was contributed by my friend Lisa... BRILLIANT!!!

You see the Furniture Girls started from humble beginnings. . . . .so humble in fact. . . . .they didn't really have instruments. . . .just a living room set that one of the bandmates won after the showcase showdown on the Price is Right . . . . and a dream. . .

The girls had all the right stuff. . . . . the vocals, the bitchin' outfits (al la Jem and the Holograms circa 1986), a pink tour bus and the ambition. . . . . but alas. . . . . no greenbacks!  So one day as the girls were sitting around sewing sequins on their Spandex halter tops and Bead-Dazzling their Jordache Jeans for their would-be finale number "Don't Break Ma Heart Cuz You'll Get Jacked Behind the 7-11", One of the girls had an amazing discovery. . . . .  if she tapped the china hutch just right. . . . it sounded vaguely like a snare drum.  The other girls became curious and were inspired to try the other furniture found strewn throughout the apartment.  One girl started playing the Venetian blinds, another began blowing a tune through the decorative ceramic dog planters, yet another girl began pounding a beat on the ottoman. . . . .and it just kept rolling from there.

Before they knew it, the girls were writing new music and taking their act, and their living room, on the road.  After a few months and a couple of major gigs at the Grand Opening of a Furniture Warehouse in Hayden Lake, ID and a Big Bob's Mattress Emporium in Paintlick, TX  . . . . . . the girls were finally able to afford REAL Instruments!!  Soon the girls were wowing crowds with their musical stylings on the jug, the washboard, the mouthharp AND the Kazoo!!  They became an overnight success!!  But the girls vowed never to sell out. . . . .and just like "Jenny From the Block" they chose to always remember their humble beginnings and be known as the Furniture Girls forever more so they would always keep it real!!
