Hi All,

Here we go with installment #11 of Jewel's Free Fan Concert at The Roxy. In this sequence Jewel wraps up the set with her first hit single, "Who Will Save Your Soul," the song that initially launched her into the public consciousness. Before she gets there, she spends the first half of this sequence humorously ruminating on her early travels from Michigan to Mexico, behind-the-scenes adventures with her dad when she played Dorothy in the Wizard Of Oz at Lincoln Center, hearing herself on the radio for the first time and most importantly - thanking you guys for all your encouragement and support over the years. Hi All,

Here we go with Installment #10 of Jewel's free fan concert at The Roxy. The hits continue with the biggest of them all, "You Were Meant For Me," the longevity record-breaker that remains one of Jewel's most requested songs. As most of you know, this song was written in collaboration with Steve Poltz. Jewel and Steve go way back, often sharing the same stage during Jewel's early coffeehouse days in San Diego. They've collaborated on numerous songs over the years and have had many adventures, none more infamous that the Mexico day trip that resulted in the writing of "You Were Meant For Me." This sequence also contains a lengthy monologue leading up to the song where Jewel describes this adventure in hilarious detail, which also resulted in the photos of Jewel and Steve with the Federales.

Hi All,
Here we go with installment #9 of Jewel's free fan concert at The Roxy, featuring three more songs from this memorable night. If you've been following along so far, you recall that the previous two sequences featured songs directly motivated by your requests. At this point in the performance, Jewel begins heading for the home stretch and plays several of her hits, starting with "Standing Still."

Afterwards, she comments on the fact that she has played a few country-flavored songs and that "Standing Still" was a hit on the Hot AC charts, so now she's in the mood for something Pop. This serves as an introduction to "Intuition." This version is a bit more relaxed than other recent performances, but the solo acoustic approach emphasizes her humorous lyrics - which flew right over the heads of many at the time of release. Often perceived as a radical change in direction, hearing "Intuition" in solo acoustic form sheds a different light on it and allows one to experience it the way it was in demo form, right before she spiced it up with Lester Mendez for the 0304 album.

This sequence concludes with Jewel playing one of her biggest hits, "Foolish Games," which many of you had been requesting throughout the evening. If you listen closely, two more requests are heard just as she begins playing the opening notes on her guitar. This installment is clearly geared toward the hits, but it also serves to celebrate the open-minded nature of her fans, as it is your appreciation for the diversity in her songwriting that made these songs hits in the first place.

Hi Again All,
Today we continue with the 8th installment of Jewel's Free Fan Concert at The Roxy. This sequence features three more songs, two from the Perfectly Clear album, with a song from the Goodbye Alice In Wonderland album sandwiched in between - all spontaneously played by request.

This installment begins with the ballad, "Rosey And Mick," followed by another one of your requests, "Good Day," which Jewel hasn't played much since the 2006 tour -- and even then it was always with her band. Despite some trepidation, she gives it a go, but loses it on the first try which quickly falls apart. We left this false start in as it is all part of the charm of this intimate show. After refreshing her memory by consulting the lyric reference book she often keeps onstage, she gives it another go. Despite struggling a bit, she delivers a rare solo acoustic version that she ends up having fun with. Then somebody asks her to play "I Do," which she also obliges, concluding this sequence.

Well, what a fun few weeks I have had on the road!

The shows have been so fun! Every audience in every city has been so amazing! I love to share the songs and the time we have together. I hope you have all been enjoying the new songs like "Stay Here Forever" and "My Father's Daughter."

I was able to do a lot of good press for Lullaby while I was in LA. I want to thank Chelsea Handler for having me on her show. I am a big fan of her show and I was so glad to finally be on it! And man, did it introduce me to a lot of new twitter followers! So fun!

Hi All,
Our 7th installment of Jewel's Free Fan Concert at The Roxy picks up where the last sequence left off. This captures two more songs in the stream of "Lullaby" album requests, followed by the moment many of you have been anxiously awaiting.

This sequence begins with Jewel obliging two more of your requests from the new album, "Cowboy's Lament" followed by "Raven," in it's first public concert performance since May of 1996- thirteen years ago!  She then continues with the compelling new song we've received countless requests about- "The Shape Of You," which reduced many in the Roxy audience to tears. Hi Again,
This next sequence of the free fan concert at The Roxy continues with an audience-interactive performance of "Life Uncommon." While deciding what to do next, an astute audience member points out that out of the 11 songs played so far, NONE of them were from the new "Lullaby" album! You know...the reason for this celebration, ha ha! This triggers a stream of those songs, beginning here with "Circle Song," which incidently was its concert debut since the new bridge was written.      So, as I sit here and watch Morning Joe and hear how unemployment numbers are up and how the economy isn't "stimulating" as hoped, and how not much of the stimulus money is even injected into our communities yet, and as I watch our government fight as if this were a football game and they were enemies whose only goal was to beat the other side instead of acting like adults doing what's right, and who are all Americans- I have just one question- how are you all? How is the economy affecting you? What do you think of universal health care? Who has been laid off? Who's doing ok, and what industry isn't feeling the crunch yet?  Do we have enough to provide our basic needs of food and shelter and health?

My industry is affected - tour sales and album sales are down. But I'm not complaining- I am certainly ok! I remember when I almost died in the parking lot of a hospital of blood poisoning due to an untreated kidney infection. No doctor would see me because I had no insurance. Man, those were low, hard times for me. I was begging for food, but I always had a quiet pride in myself, even though I was on low times and needed help. And I think that good kind of pride helped me make it through those tough times.

All you have is yourself and your dignity, and you can't let it go. There are two types of pride. One is healthy; it's having morals and respect for yourself and your actions and your life. Don't get me wrong- I'm not talking about foolish pride, where you think you're too good for something. I had no 'foolish pride' when it came to getting by. I would clean toilets or dig ditches or bus tables. I wasn't too good for any job that I could work at, but I could never stand being disrespected as a human. Just because I was down on my luck or didn't have a college education didn't make me a second class citizen or a bad person. And I never was able to tolerate when someone was mean or taking advantage of someone else either. To read more, be sure to click here

Hi All,
This installment of the Free Fan Concert at The Roxy contains only one song, "Hands," with a good portion of this next sequence devoted to a lengthy monologue before the song. Prior to "Hands," she engages the audience with recollections of her early days in San Diego and her adventures at survival. Following a few good laughs, she takes a more serious turn, recalling how she and Ty experienced the realization of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Be sure to go click here to see the video!

Hi all!

Well, I hope you had a great one! Ty and I decided to just have a DATE DAY! Just the two of us, and it was soooo nice! We got up early and headed to Granbury Lake, then rented 2 jet skis and just goofed around and laughed and had a blast for 3 hours on the giant lake. Then we got sushi and caught a flick- The Proposal. It was a cute movie, and so nice to see Alaska on the big screen- isn't it beautiful!? It was so nice just to relax after the busy week in NYC without Ty and my doggie George.

NYC was so much fun, and we got so much done! First of all, singing at the fundraiser for The Trevor Project was just inspiring. For those of you who don't know, The Trevor Project is a hotline and support group for at-risk gay, lesbian, transgendered or questioning youth. My pal Caroline Rhea was the host. She is sooo funny and it was great to see her. I also got to see some inspiring young kids make some great speeches- brave kids and so proud of them all. To read more about my week in NYC, see more pictures and the performance video from the NBC 4th of July special, click here!
