ISSUE #8

Interview by Titus Dillard
Wussup fam, welcome as we introduce you to Rapsoulution for the first time, what's
good on your end?
Everything is everything just grinding working hard and networking pushing my music world
wide.
Bad News to the world, both music and individually, officially introduce yourself, where
you came from and where you plan on taking everything you've developed as of the
present.
I was born and raised on The Lower East Side (The 6 boro) in lower Manhattan behind the bright
lights. As a CEO/artist I plan on taking our independent record label (PWB Entertainment)
international eventually signing new talented artists of all kind, but for starters I will be pushing
my new album: The Golden Era to set the pace and establish the label.
Now when one thinks about 'bad news' it generally, represents nothing good, where did
your name originate from and how is the new you are bringing different from what is
already out there?
Well my name came from my street life days when I was younger and it pretty much stood with
me throughout the years although most people call me B.A.D short for Bad News. MY name
B.A.D.N.E.W.S means (Build And Destroy Now Empower Without Satan) I'm bringing my music
back to the essence of hip hop/reality rap, where we use our voice to say something relevant to
the life we live. To uplift, educate, and have a good time although there might be negative times
in my rhymes from my past experiences in life, but at the end of the day it will balance out for the
good, so Bad News is good news too.
Now being up top (New York) and not only a native but currently still holding down
your region, how has the game changed in your eyes over these past few years?
Well there isn't much originality or creativity these days verses the older days of the golden era
where every artists had they own story to tell and not try to be like the next artist. I could name a
few names and none of these artists sound the same from the golden era, artists such as (Mc
Shan, Rakim, KRS One, De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, The Ghetto Boys, NWA, Master P, Big
Daddy Kane, Mc Lyte, LL-Cool-J, Salt n Pepa, EPMD, OutKast, Redman, Wu Tang, Kam, Snoop
Dog, 2pac, Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie, Kool G Rap, Public Enemy, X-Clan, Gang Starr, etc) Just to name a
few back then. We had a great select of complete hot albums from top to bottom and they did
music from the soul for the love not only for the money. Nowadays we got ring tone rappers just
looking for a nice beat and hook to only get a check.
Now you mentioned your involvement with various elements of hip hop from graffiti to
emcee, breaking to boogie, what's your absolute favorite if you could master one level
of the charts and nothing else?
Wow that's hard, but I'll go with emceeing. It's a lot of confusion as misdirected 'wanna be
artists' these days, too many as we've all encountered. How do you feel about these new comers
entering into a culture that came so far and sort of skipping the steps of development and
becoming a student of hip hop before officially wanting to just jump in because it's the 'cool' thing
to do or chasing the almighty dollar as our media resources advertise as the life. Again these
non-educated artists just sell their souls to get a check and let the labels tell them who they
should sound like or be like and it's ridiculous. It's hurting the culture of hip hop, but at the same
time I blame a lot of the golden era artists for retiring from the culture instead of staying
consistent in the music industry and not letting these wanna be ring tone rappers dictate our craft
of what we have created. I ask all my golden era artists to please pick your mics back up and put
out more great albums on the same release date and tour together all year and do the same thing
every year.
THERE IS NO AGE TO HIP HOP MUSIC JUST ANY OTHER GENRE OF MUSIC!!!!!
For those who may not know what CRUSH CITY is and the ALMIGHTY ZULU NATION,
break down your status and the importance of this in your life.
Well Crush City was a movement on The Lower East Side which consist of dancers, graffiti artists,
music producers, hip hop artists, and disc jockeys. We was one big family traveling around
battling different crews all over and eventually we became a part of the ALMIGHTY ZULU NATION
Back when Planet Rock was in every radio killing the sound waves. The ALMIGHTY ZULU NATION
brought a lot structure and unity amongst those who were a part of the family and gave the
streets a lot of love.
As a matter of fact the ALMIGHTY ZULU NATION is celebrating their 35th anniversary of The
Universal ZULU NATION and The 34th anniversary of The Hip Hop Culture at The Ballers Club
1465 Jerome Ave btwn 170th & 171st street in the boogie down Bronx from November 6th
through the 9th. Peace Love & Unity to the ALMIGHTY ZULU NATION!!!!
Now you have experience in the mixtape markets, since everyone is dropping a
mixtape, what do you think is the new wave to ride on or be a part of apart from
promoting yourself on just another mixtape to the public?
Collaborating with other good artists and giving the fans good music and grinding your mix tape
through the online digital route going worldwide building your fan base and targeting your
audience. Instead of limiting yourself only to the local street outlets verses hitting all aspects of
the music game and connecting with the world all over.
Tell the people where they can find your music and website information.
www. pwbent. com

or myspace. com/pwbentertainment

Currently you can go online to any of the websites and purchase my street album CD/DVD Start
The Bidding. Wars Vol 1/ AVAILABLE NOW/23 hot tracks plus a dvd of video's and extra footage.
Be on the lookout for my EXCLUSIVE NEW HIP HOP ALBUM CALLED: THE GOLDEN ERA
Now listening to some of your material, it shows your passion for your music, your
culture, history and other interested aspects, what do you want supporters and
listeners to get from you as an artist and your music as a whole?
Truth , wisdom, knowledge , unity, love, and overstanding.
