Hey, word on the street has it that the Outlaw Angels will be doing a special Texas tour in a couple of weeks. Brigitte London and Brook Faulk will join me for a very intimate songwriters evening at Hill's Cafe in Austin on June 19, and then share a rockin' double bill with the Mudcats at Cheatham St. Warehouse on June 21. We'll all be out in Luckenbach on Sunday afternoon, the 22nd, to celebrate Waylon's birthday with some special songs.

These are gonna be some great shows. Plan ahead. Don't miss 'em.

If you're a friend of Texas dance halls or a band that plays at Texas dance halls, you should check out a pretty new web site: http://texasdancehall.org

Texas Dance Hall Preservation, Inc., is a non-profit organization devoted to the preservation of some of Texas's most precious cultural institutions. You can also find their site on myspace.com/texasdancehalls

We just became members. Hope some of you will, too. Help spread the word.

See you in one of the dance halls soon.

Have a listen to the new recording of Night Train from Pecos with members of Waylon Jennings's former band, the Waylors. Recording with these guys was really something. Let me know what you think. It's posted here on myspace.

The song will appear on a Spirit of the Outlaws compilation CD to be released in Nashville in April. Be sure to get a copy when it comes out.

The song was recorded at Night Town Music Studio. Special kudos to Brigitte London and Jerry Bridges, who produced it.

More about the April CD release later.

Looking forward to loading the car up and heading to Nashville, where I'll perform on Brigitte London's Spirit of the Outlaws show again on January 3. On the trip, I'll be recording with members of Waylon Jennings's former band for a Spirit of the Outlaws compilation CD. A new version of "Night Train from Pecos" will be my contribution to the CD (liner notes, photos, etc.), which is also going to be released on vinyl. Can you believe that?

I am really jacked about this. Waylon's band members were guys I really idolized back in the early 70s and 80s. Now, to get to record with them and have the CD put out on vinyl! What a way to start the new year.

If you haven't already done it, check out Brigitte London and the Spirit of the Outlaws on myspace. They're doing their best to shake up things there in Nashville.

Hey, check out a special Spirit of the Outlaws internet radio show tonight and every Sunday night from 6 to 10p.m. on www.musicontherowradio.com The show, hosted by Carmen Dreher, features music by artists who have appeared as guests on Brigitte London's Spirit of the Outlaws monthly show with members of Waylon Jennings's former band at Douglas Corner Cafe in Nashville. This show is really getting a lot of attention there in Nashville.

Tonight's show (Nov. 11) will feature London, who will be giving away some promotional CDs and merchandise donated by some of the artists. She will also conduct some live on-air interviews with a few of the artists.

If you're an indie artist or a fan of roots-based music, you should tune in to this show. I plan to be home tonight listening to the show and wouldn't be opposed to taking a phone call from Nashville tonight in case the phone rings!!!!

Texas is well-represented in the latest edition of the Spirit of the Outlaws online magazine in Nashville: http://www.spiritoftheoutlaws.com

This issue has my article on Terri Hendrix, an editorial by Brigitte London on Dale Watson, and Dave Pilot's article on Chris Wall. Billy Don Burns has a moving story on Johnny Paycheck that you just gotta read.

There are some great interviews, too. Check it out.

If you're an indie artist and looking for airplay, here's a podcast based in Essexville, Michigan, that plays all genres. One of my songs, "It's the Music," is slated for airplay as part of program no. 79 D, late on July 24, 2007.

Have a listen and check it out: http://www.soupygato.com
