here's some video of an old "band" from 96, more of a tribe than a band, really.  stella luna - completely improvised shows (we never saw each other together except at shows).  and what shows they were, incorporating not only musical adventures (guitar, drums, didjeridu, tape loops, electronics, violin, etc.) but giant puppets, torch-bearers, dancers galore, and an ever-growing tribe.  alas, it all quietly disintegrated as people moved far away.  but here's the footage:

what is there to do but that which brings us joy? the joy that comes from knowing our gifts are valued by others. the joy that comes from feeling well used, that what we are offering is needed and wanted in the world. what we have to give to the world is too important for us to hide behind our fears. we could spend our whole lives caught up in our fears and excuses of why we can't do what our soul yearns to do. or we can get over our small, fearful self and jump into our big, joyous self - the one whose heart is filled up by giving.
i am slowly stepping into this big, joyous self - a gradual process. i have wanted to hide, to not be responsible, to not be accountable, to not be heard. but all along i have known that i have to keep pushing through the fears, the uncertainties, the doubts, and risk, some small risks, some big risks, and keep opening my heart. i know that i will get as much as i give. there is no other option any more.
