almost finished this EP that I have been working on for the last year or so. 4 songs and a couple remixes, hopefully. it's rhythmic noise stuff with lots of dark ambient influence. some IDM/gridlock influence in there too. the songs are long with a lot of shit in them so it's taking me forever to mix. will be done pretty soon though. already have most of the art ready. new logo and promo pics are done too. label is confirmed. just have to finishing mixing these songs, get the remixes in and get it mastered. hopefully jan or feb release. more info soon...

oh and Celestial Malaise sold out in early october. I guess I haven't updated since then. more dark ambient to come in 2010.

so i'm not really feeling a lot of the dubstep I wrote anymore. It's good but not earth-shattering, and as such there is really no point in releasing it.  I will write some new stuff... I believe I have a clearer vision of what I want to accomplish with that style now. No dubstep albums...most likely just 2 song or 4 song EPs. Also, I'm sort of getting back into power noise and noticing several avenues that I could take it down that would make it fresh / exciting to both hear and write. I have a new track that I'm digging and I will write new stuff as soon as I get time. Once I finally get some songs finished that I am completey happy with I will try to do more shows and things. I've had Worms in limbo for what seems like forever and I really want to get it back on its feet writing exciting things that get people excited about dark industrial again...

I've also been super into writing IDM and have a few things I'm working on for Ghosts in the Clocktower. I will more than likely finish that up first and drop it to a couple labels and see if anything happens.

There will be more dark ambient too, but I'm not sure where that fits into things at the moment.

This experimental collaboration between two exceptional artists, Roto Visage and Worms of the Earth, is a journey in sound - it blends and experiments with the genres of glitch, drone, ambient and noise to produce an epic experience for the willing ear and devoted fan.
The three-track collection features a single song from each artist and a collaboration to close the album, with tracks ranging from 30 to 12 minutes in length. The first track, "Samvartakalpa", by Roto Visage, is a 30-minute adventure in ambience and scraping distortions. You'll find yourself lost in the rise and fall of sonic waves with scattered vocal samples, shrieking electronics and percussive glitches. This is a treacherous swim in an ocean of sound. The next piece, "Vivartakkalpa", by Worms of the Earth, begins with a lulling harmony circling your ears, and proves more progressive than Roto Visage's first offering. Carrying you along with the currents, the thick wall of sound lies below ominous vocal samples. At fifteen minutes, Worms of the Earth slowly introduces scattered electronic glitches and sliding metal clangs that etch the ambience with a loose percussion. The piece then finds a quiet place before soaring to new heights with strings and climatic female vocalizations echoing off into space. The final composition, "Celestial Malaise" is a combined effort from Roto Visage and Worms of the Earth. The mixture of ambience and subtle rhythmic noise sets a tone of objects in motion, massive and menacing. It rattles with thick pads and bouncing synths that fade in and out of the void.
This release is beautifully produced and a treat for the patient ear or fan of the genre. For the uninitiated, tracks may run a little too long and sadly may be passed over.

So, here it is, the otherworldly dark ambient/drone split album between me and visionary dark ambient producer Roto Visage. 3 tracks of epic mind-bending drone. This is housed in a 1-fold digipak and only 50 copies exist. If you're interested in purchase please (only 6$!!) check out the order page here: Disease Foundry. I personally only have a few copies which I will be selling exclusively at shows.

On my track there is a fairly extensive use of Binaural Beats. OK so what the hell is that? Basically when you play a separate tone in each stereo channel (i.e. right and left, in ya headphones) and the tones differ slightly (5-10hz), the brain percieves this as a single "beating" tone. So that's all well and good, but the point is that this tone can subtley influence brain activity. What is influenced is based on the frequency of the tone. This technique can be used to trigger effects like euphoria, aniexty, fear, etc. So I won't go into more detail about the specifics that I used, but in any case throw your headphones on, go outside, turn this up as loud as you feel like and see what happens...

i'll give you a hint, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binaural_beats and go to "other uses". hemi-sync anyone?

Ok, so wtf is samvarhtalekap or whatever the fuck ? Here is what this CD is about:

In buddhist temporal cosmology, i.e. how the universe comes into creation and dissolution, there are 4 cycles. They are

1. Vivartakalpa - "Eon of evolution" – during this kalpa the universe comes into existence.
2. Vivartasthāyikalpa - "Eon of evolution-duration" – during this kalpa the universe remains in existence in a steady state.
3. Samvartakalpa - "Eon of dissolution" – during this kalpa the universe dissolves.
4. Saṃvartasthāyikalpa - "Eon of dissolution-duration" – during this kalpa the universe remains in a state of emptiness.

here is a brief description of what happens during Vivartakalpa:

The Vivartakalpa begins with the arising of the primordial wind, which begins the process of building up the structures of the universe that had been destroyed at the end of the last mahākalpa. As the extent of the destruction can vary, the nature of this evolution can vary as well, but it always takes the form of beings from a higher world being born into a lower world. This continues throughout the Vivartakalpa until all the worlds are filled from the Brahmaloka down to Naraka. During the Vivartakalpa the first humans appear; they are not like present-day humans, but are beings shining in their own light, capable of moving through the air without mechanical aid, living for a very long time, and not requiring sustenance; they are more like a type of lower deity than present-day humans are.

I have uploaded a very small excerpt of the track 'Vivartakalpa' from the forthcoming split with visionary dark ambient producer Roto Visage. The full track is 22 minutes long, so the preview is really but a miniscule glimpse into the macrocosm. The split is entirely dark ambient / drone, so no beats, no distortion, etc.

Vivartakalpa is a term from buddhism cosmology. The universe moves in four cycles, Vivartakalpa is the first one, the cycle of creation and coming into being. I will go over it more when the Split is released. You probably won't feel the connection based on the small clip, but perhaps you might from the track in it's entirety. it is coming fairly soon in an extremely limited quantity from Disease Foundry Records. more info as i get it

Anyway if you feel like it, check out the track and give me feedback.

Instead of making a new and legit webpage, I decided just to do this:

http://wormsoftheearth.blogspot.com

but now I can ramble about all kinds of stuff on there so that should be fun

yeah, me too. I'm working on a new EP which will be out in a few months. It's very dark and not very "industrial". If you liked 'Under the Bodhi Tree' than you might like it.

fuck!

alright, so I forgot to renew the Wounds of the Earth domain name (woundsoftheearth.com) and hosting plan as of 10/31/08 and apparantly within the timespan of then until now, some fucking domain name proxy service (wtf) has bought up the domain name!!! So now woundsoftheearth.com and all the glorious subsidiary sites I had on it have been snatched out of my hands...so no worms of the earth official website for a bit :(

the best part is that 1. they gave me no indication my shit was expiring (last year i got like 75 emails about it) and 2. they didn't inform me to let me know that i no longer own the domain, so in order to find out why my shit was not working, i had to inquire through several emails which was a pain in the ass. arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

the only "good" thing is i moved wounds of the earth to: http://woundsoftheearth.blogspot.com

at i least i will be saving 45$ per year...see you in hell godaddy
